I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. You are both looking fitter and healthier than ever and that gladdens my heart. ❤️ It was packed with concise and useful information and I really like the insertion of animation of the routes you take on water and on land. Two things that bother (frighten) me when travelling on my boat are large motor cruisers which don’t understand (or don’t care about) right of way and which put out an enormous wake, and second - power boats and jet skis racing at top speed through crowded moorings when I’m in my little dinghy rowing from ship to shore 😱
I’m in the tidewater marina till the end of November. There is a post office that accepts general delivery but it a ways from the dock. Ten minutes by uber
Wow, that's a lot of good info on Portsmouth. I prefer to anchor by Fort Monroe, on the other side of the hampton roads inlet from Willoughby spiit. Water is deeper and there is a good local restaurant, plus a neat national park at the Fort. I think you've got too many electrical things.
Northfolk Virginia. I have been working at new port news shipyard for 6 months. It was really cool. The nicest people. I have a sailboat. maybe I should take a trip to newport. Thanks for a good YT channel. and thanks for sharing. It is a nice spacious boat you have. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next video. Greetings Finn Denmark Europe
Another great video with lots of great advice for anyone planning on heading to the area. Places to resupply to how well the holding is. Like I’ve said before, a truly real to life channel that shows the amazing part of what you do along with the real struggles of everyday life aboard.
There are solid state n shaped domes combined wind instruments available . Simple solid no moving parts. I can find the name possibly but have no idea of cost.
@@Spoondrifters They are called Calypso wind instruments.. they do wired and solar Bluetooth instruments and They seem to be Nema 2000 compatible...and other systems..
Look at it this way. If you can navigate that area safely, you can do it most anywhere else there is that level or less of traffic. Good move to Willoughby. I have a lot of personal experience with Hospital Point and none of it was good. Shallow water for anything that approaches 6 ft. draft or better, crab pots, wakes from commercials and always seems to be crowded with little boats as a Marina alternative. and very poor holding. Like your channel and be safe out there.
Had an osprey attempt a nest build on our mast. I tied pool noodles both vertically and horizontally to the main halyard, hoisted it up so the noodles interfered in his landing zone. He left to find a better building site. Looked for you at the Power boat show, no luck.
Pronounced Norfek not Nor Folk. Lived here most of my life and love life on the Chesapeake Bay. Watch out with the birds many of them are protected and people will tell on you not that you guys would harm them. Hope you guys enjoyed your time at my home. I actually live closer to the beach Ocean View on the other side of Norfolk. The wife and I full time live on our boat. Oysters and barnacles only way is take out of water and clean.
Travel stresses. On the boat, pot markers, especially those with no flag. It's like transiting a mine field. By car, then it's Mr. A. Hole at the wheel.
This is the problem with over reliance on electronics. Tie a piece of yarn on your main mast outside shroud, learn to read the wind, sea state, too many people rely on electronics.
The stupid things people will do on the radio thinking they can't be tracked. Years ago in the mountains we had a CB radio network. After dark for about a week, we had a guy harassing the woman on it. What he didn't know was he was trackable. We played a game on the weekends back then called CB tag. Essentially hide an seek in cars using radios. We were very good at tracking a broadcasting radio. By day 2 of this guy being an ___ we had made a plan an pinpointed what town he was in. That Friday night, about 15 of us guys were sitting in a parking lot in that town. The ladies were home talking on the radio as if it was any other day. We sat there for 4 hours an were about go home when he got on the radio an started his harassment. Something like 15 minutes later I pulled in to his driveway with a line of cars behind me. I saw a face in the window before all the lights in the house went out. We discussed putting a pin through his coax cable, but we didn't. We just left assuming we made our point that talking on the radio was not as anonymous as he thought. Never heard from him again.
I don't really mind driving at night or in the rain and don't mind too much driving in a city. But driving at night and in the rain in a city when the reflections make it impossible to see the lane markings? Not a fan.
Hey. Side note. I was born in the Portsmouth Naval Hospital in 1980. Lol. Great video guys!!

Thanks Tricia! Yes those boats who don’t care can cause all kinds of trouble! 🤦🏻♀️
Coming into the marina and docking in the wind! Great show. Thanks 4 sharing 🙂
yes! totally agree, that's super stressful!
LOL funny to see the live feed to an qsprey nest in the chandlers - like you need that!!
Awesome video. Great to see y’all again.
Thanks!

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Stress = Crowds ! Crowded anchorages, crowed water ways, crowed stores, crowded places. 😵💫
Truth!! ❤️
You can put some of the plastic pointy bird guards on the top of your mast
Hmmm that’s an interesting idea
Maybe get some noise maker for the top of the mast? Compressor, air hose and a loud air horn maybe. hehe
Maybe!
Awesome video!
Running aground!
Thanks for watching!
running aground is VERY stressful!

Interesting! That would be nice for sure. 👍

Yeah, it can get bumpy for sure at Hospital Point.

interesting idea! Sorry we missed you. Todd was wandering as an employee.

We enjoyed ourselves in your home town! Nice people, lots to do! Crazy how those creatures embed themselves in the ropes!

Hate the pots too!!
Have you tried one of those water guns, in the UK we call them super soakers to scare of that damn bird
OOh that's a great idea!
Seams like your having lots of problems with the raymarine. Is it a communication problem?
We are trying to figure hire it out
I live here and dock my boat in Norfolk. If you are still here and need anything let me know.
Thanks David, maybe we'll get in touch when we head south again. Send us a message on facebook or instagram.
Denali is always with you and Todd. Is liberty off the boat?
Yes, Liberty was still in Alaska at this point

Yes, we’ve sailed boats without working anemometers or wind indicators but the tools do make life easier. 😜 Thanks a the nature of tools right?
if they are on your rope and chain they are on your hull and rudder?
Don’t think so, Total Boat spartan paint does a great job stopping that kind of growth.

Pre barnacles
Being tail gated right on the rear bumper.
LOL right?

Never heard of those
No WOKE allowed on the radio. lol
