- We found one of the quirkiest skoolie conversions we've ever seen and spent a couple nights off-grid in this crazy home on wheels. 🚌 It's actually parked on a working farm, so we also made tons of adorable animal friends. 🐓🐐🐖 It wasn't the most glamorous stay ever, but it was a fun first skoolie experience! And gave us TONS of inspiration for our own RV renovation.

I have to agree! Would you two stay there again? The only thing that I saw in the video which I liked was the stars! I grew up in a rural part of a northern state and I MISS seeing the stars, especially the Milky Way and I even saw the Northern Lights once. If you haven't seen these things, head north in the winter and get ready to have your mind blown! Where I live now you can barely see any stars.
Gruesome - that latrine, yuk. Besides where am I going to plug in my hairdryer. Eric should go back to Barcelona where he had his best haircut.

I used to live in Berlin Germany for 15 years. You need one month to see everything just in that city. If you go there make sure you do the underground ww2 tour. Amazing.
really enjoy watching your videos. When I was 18 just out of high school two of my friends took a road trip from Wisconsin to Oregon and back in my 1967 two door Chevy Malibu. When we couldn't get a hotel or pitch a tent one night we decided to sleep in the car. It was 90 during the day and I had the front seat Bob had the back seat and Craig the hippie guy said I will grab the sleeping bag and sleep under the engine. Woke up and there was frost on the windows and I thought Craig froze to death. I was so happy when I kicked him to wake up that is was alive. So I knew you two would have a nice night sleep.
Oh jeez! That's a little too "roughing it" for us. Definitely don't want to have to kick Eric to make sure he made it through the night. 😅 Glad Craig made it out okay! And at least now it's a fun memory and not a horror story lol

I’m typically make a best of it sort of person…and I like sleeping in a tent. So am not afraid of “roughing-it,” but the wood stove full of old trash probably would have sent me off to find a new place.

Way late to the party again. Besides mentioning letting you know how much I have loved ALL of your videos that I’ve seen thus far!!! - I just want to mention that Eric’s allergic reaction all this time ago could be because of mold (in the wood) in that schoolie. I have mold allergies and it always comes from visiting living spaces/accommodations that are moldy when no one else seems to have identified it prior/initially. 😅 My first exposure presented as cold symptoms. Maybe strange to say it now after all this time but mold exposure over time can get worse/quite serious. Would be good for you to know that you don’t have a mold allergy, in case you’ve never had an allergy test, since, like was the case for me, I had no allergies prior. Maybe it wasn’t mold and was in general something in Colorado, and not from the bus itself… sorry for the long comment! 😅

You two are so nice. I could not stay someplace with no running water or AC and a bathroom that you have to walk outside. Black widows are no fun when bitten. It affects your body in a way, you feel like you’re in labor, but no baby, about 12 hours after being bitten. Rattlesnakes will be out during the cooler hours or in an outhouse during the heat of the day. That is not my cup of tea. Definitely not one of your best places to stay, although I do like the animals.

Lol, totally okay. It was very different from our aesthetic, but definitely had a lot of character! If it'd had running water and a functioning shower it actually would have been a lot of fun!

This bus reminds me of the converted schoolbus I slept in once (AirBnB, a couple of years ago) in Florida. That one had even more “character” than your schoolie. The bed was horrible and smelly, there was no water, no fridge, no A/C, it had a cracked window, so all the mosquitos came right in. We were supposed to stay a couple of nights, but after the first night we “suddenly had to leave due to family circumstances”. The owners were very nice and proud of their work, but it was clear they converted their bus a few decades ago and never really updated it. We couldn’t bring ourselves to telling them the truth, so we left with an excuse and felt bad for the rest of the trip 😕
No AC or running water and you gotta do your personal business in a dark outhouse. Not to mention the plywood walled cold shower. And you paid to stay there for not one , but TWO nights?

We didn't end up saying it, but we actually didn't even get to the beer during our stay! 🤣 So luckily we didn't have to go in the middle of the night after all 🙌

Love your humor! You two are so fun to watch. Cool place to stay, but I'm with you...I definitely want my own (indoor) bathroom! But I bet when it's hot, you could use that outdoor shower and it feel great.
Truth! If it'd been a teeny bit warmer, the shower would have probably been a lot more fun 🥶 It was definitely an interesting experience that made us appreciate indoor amenities 🚿🚽

Hey I checked out at the point where this bus was complete non-functional for living in.
The reason why the animals are so friendly is that they don't fear people eating therm and they are allowed to roam free. Pigs at a factory farm would never ever act like that because they are abused and kept in pens forever. Yet another reason to go vegan.

Hey y’all (I’m Irish so it really doesn’t work in my accent!). My dad was a bus driver, he loved it! Would love to stay overnight in a converted bus, not sure about that toilet though….
Rustic? more like primitive, certainly done to a budget, a zero one. Last time I used an earth closet was over 60 year ago, It was a brick outhouse though and it had to be dug out every year and the contents placed on the farm's muck heap before spreading on the fields.

We've had some horrible hazy air quality due to wildfires from other states, and that's been causing lots of allergy issues. Also, southern colorado does have other ragweed and weeds that can cause allergies too. I hope you feel better!
If you plan to travel through the Harz here in Germany, pack a jacket. We are currently in the 50s with the occasional low 60s. It may be welcome though after the heat in the US.
Not sure if I'd enjoy cold showers, especially if we were paying for our place to stay. That and an outhouse. Hope you got a good deal. Did however enjoy the night sky and cute animals.
I’m sorry but there is no way I would be willing to stay there. I would have left already. Plus make sure to check your beds because sometimes brown recluses get found there. Not trying to scare you. Also you should shake your shoes out every day before putting them on.
