I don't think there is anything weird about the royals buying each other cheap practical gifts. They already have everything in the world so they don't want to be wasteful. To them it makes more sense to get jokey practical gifts and laugh and joke about it. I think that's pretty cool. Family traditions are absolutely beautiful. I agree completely. I would like to hear more about the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. I believe they work very hard and were a great support to the late queen. The Duke as Prince Richard of Gloucester qualified as an architect and intended to spend his life practising his profession, unfortunately his older brother died so he was required together with his Danish born wife to become a working member of the royal family. That’s all I know about this couple, I would love to know more.
I wish Charles would have had enough courage to tell his parents Diana was not for him...too young, naive, immature and insecure for him. None of this would have happened.
I enjoyed watching this format even though there was nothing that hadn’t been said before. Back then one didn’t really know a great deal about the reality of life at the age of 19 plus Diana had the misfortune of coming from a broken family, the odds were stacked up against the poor young girl from day one.
They never should have gotten married in the first place. Charles should have been able to marry Camilla. I feel so sorry for her that she was never really loved by Charles. She deserved so much better.

Royal Christmas traditions really started with King George III and continued with Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Even Henry VIII's court celebrated Christmas!

I think the giving of presents on Christmas Eve dates back at least to the reign of Queen Victoria, rather than only to Queen Alexandra. This is a European tradition and was brought to the English Court from Germany.

Prince Philip and Lord Snowdon always resented the notion that they had to walk two steps behind and adopt that less important role but they knew their place and their duty not to usurp the attention being given to their spouses. It doesn’t seem fair when you’re young but Charles was right, she was a Princess because he married her and made her a Princess. Also, it didn’t help Charles had never had to share the spotlight with anyone. If they’d communicated they probably would’ve worked things out but if you don’t talk, it’s difficult to guess your way through problems. I also don’t think Fergie and Diana helped each other as much as they pushed each other and gave one another false courage which didn’t serve either of them in the long term.
