To add a note on upgrading the wheels without upgrading the links...those heavy wheels add a lot of force when you tumble...I broke a rear lower link when I flopped my rig down a hill. So I suggest ordering a set of the links when you add heavy wheels.

Great vid guys! I'm a new subscriber and I'm impressed with your vids. That was a awesome comp between the red cats. I just put injora brass wheels and dj crawler m/t tires on my ascent18. Hope it does well with that set up.

I don't remember the exact weight but probably about 900 grams that guy is among our heaviest . The cones are in a tiny round cutout from a whole saw haha just maybe 1/4 " down and the cones pop right in!
No that’s one part a have not upgraded yet I have plans to make a brass one but haven’t done it yet. I wish redcat would have made one that came with the brass steering link.
Hey Fella’s, first time seeing channel in my feed. I liked and subbed immediately.! The best video I’ve seen on the “RedCat Ascent 18”. Following each other on the exact same course was the perfect way to show this truck’s capabilities in nearly stock form and in a totally tricked out form. Y’all proved yet again, what I learned long ago. It’s not all about your equipment, yes you need at least a basic capable truck but, the bottom line is “the skills are 80-90%” of the deal. That only takes practice and learning from watching people like Y’all. Very inspiring video for me, noobs or anyone thinking of trying the hobby. You don’t have to break the bank to get started. A $99 RedCat Ascent 18 comes with everything. The Truck, transmitter, battery and a charger, all in one box. Oh, you’ll need to snag a couple AA’s from TV remote. Get off the couch, Go outside, breathe some fresh air, have fun! The cool part is everything You learn in this hobby transfers to real life, not to mention all the cool people and new friends you’ll meet in the RC Crawler community. Great video! I wish I had two more hands, I could give y’all 4 👍!! 🦈

Did you guys do the free mod with the battery? I moved mine to the front little tray in front of the front shock mounts it works great the strap even fit under it lol looks like it is where it's supposed to be like from the factory.. LOL luv the ascent 18 awesome little crawler...

I have heard of that link breaking on a few of these definitely seems to be a weak point in the ascent 18

You're very welcome. I believe you'll be pleased with the dj crawler tires. They seem to grip really well and they look killer on the ascent18.
Why I don’t use a heavy wheel is because half that weight is always above the axle. Brass portal parts are where it’s at
An awesome part of the hobbies is all the combination of parts to pick and choose from. I think this guy has done wonderful with just the two upgrades
