Excellent tour Jim, thanks for putting that up. I always like to see the "DEV" (Driver's Eye View) and also the "Behind the Scenes" vids too. Superb entertainment. STEVIE B.
thanx for the complete overview in one video of your layout, Jim ! absolutly great to see your ideas, details and what you to like ! I see you have an NWB Railcar ! gorgeous, runs every days/hours on my home rail !
Great video Jim. Sometimes forget just how detailed your layout is. I think a big bonus for us watching is that we have seen all the extra videos with the cranes working or the containers being loaded etc , the detailed models on your layout are not just scenic most of them have been shown working. Also your specialist or rare and speciality collection of locos is second to none. Great stuff as always ,thanks .
Wow thanks Alan ... I never really think of this layout as anything special as it's my first attempt after a few decades out of the hobby. But it's more of a fun run anything I like layout but based in Germany. Thanks ....jim
What a fantastic use of space. So much to look at so you don't just look at a train going round an oval. Love the terminus station. I can imagine what you could do with a 40 feet by 60 feet outbuilding.
Hi Jim I nice overview. You have done a great job on your layout, lots of detail and lots of work. I think you didn't planned it that way from the beginning, but you really have done a great job. I can't imagine what you could do if you have the space I have.....lol Regards Helder PS: I did like that pink convertible, it's a little over scale but very nice...lol.
Helder Oliveira Hi Helder , many thanks...lol that car look's stupid...but hey who cares...lol.. on my next layout i plan to wrap it around the full loft ...i even have all the track in storage......jim
Great layout. Also running fleischmann profi track. Wondering what ballast you are using for it to blend so well with the profi track. Could you share what you are using?
Very nice tour Jim storage space mate never got enough lol,I've got the station building which was on my old layout sadly stored in a box under the layout with the turntable never know might use them one day. You got some stock Jim must of taken years to collect mate and some very nice locos too. Kev
Thanks Kev...I started collecting when I got my friends trains when he died...so it was around 2007 when I started to collect and 2010 when the layout was built. Too much stuff...lol......I have sold a lot of stuff on ebay which I did not use as space was becoming a problem , I still buy stuff tho.....a parcel turned up this morning with a very special decoder.......?
Hi Jim I always thought your layout was pretty comprehensive but did not realise, until you showed it broken down into different sections, quite how big and complicated it is. Really interesting video. On another point will be really interested in your thoughts on the Ecos wireless system when you get it. as have been waiting for the new one myself. Robin
Many thanks Robin. . Yes I am ordering the esu 50113 direct from Germany, this has the extra items in the box as aposed to the 50112 ..it's not realised until mid July. What makes this throttle special is the large powered rotary dial which is what I want for presise control and feel on a wireless control.
Nice to have a conducted tour of your layout Jim , tend to forget how big it is , you have plenty of detailed work going on and always a joy to watch (think you need a bigger loft now ) ....Dave
Thanks Dave... I do tend to think this is a small layout which could of been much bigger at the start..you have me thinking of expansion now....Oh no.....I must resist the temptation of expansion. ..lol...
Nice Jim, and I have only three comments, first I miss the loc's house around the turntable, the second is to give more attention to the bridge (the road bridge) close to the turntable and the third is I think the mountain need a few color stones. Generally is a nice layout (even with the kids's finishing touch!!).
Hi...Shorsh Many thanks... There are many areas that need more attention e.g bridge mountain and many other areas.. It just having the time etc.. The roundhouse is staying open plan as I like to see the locos in this area... This is not a realistic layout more a fun run any train I like layout. All the best ...jim
Really good video Jim and a sensational setup - I'm after building my layout using yours, dave howarth and lakeside as the nirvana layouts - brilliant! Best JC
Hello Jim; You certainly have a system to be admired I am very jealous. It looks like you have trains, freight cars and passenger cars under the table that we have never seen? Are you going down the same road as Rudd Boer his videos are very interesting. Cannot wait to see your upcoming videos regarding the automation of your system I record all of yours and Ruud's for future use.hopefully on my own system which only exists in my head at present. Thank you
Thanks Hugh for your kind words...There are a lot of unusual wagons I storage....like the marklin trix floating wagons...some of the items have only been used once or some never... Ruud is the one to follow on rr&co etc..as he is the master of explaining the process of automation. .... All the best Jim
A good pulling it all together video Jim - Go for Gold version on RR&Co - as you say, it aint cheap and I'm sticking to release version 7 (which is not the latest) as I refuse to pay additional dosh for upgrade facilities that I don't need...and I started out with version 5 - years ago!! Great explanation of the layout and the operational facilities you've designed into it - well done. Stu
Thanks stu... I suppose if you want a rock solid product you pay for the quality... Re: blocks and sensors is a sensor a feed back e.g which go's back to my detector unit ,so one block can have say three sensors or feedbacks ....?
Very good tour of the layout, its the only continental system i ever look at because i can understand its owner.I was starting to add up the cost of your stock but when i got to 5 grand i stopped in case your missus watched the comment. An impressive set up Jim but thanks to the girls,i,am afraid the MUSHI MONSTERS was the star attraction mate,LOLLL...cheers Tony.
Thanks tony...lol those mini monsters are everywhere. ... I would not like to add it all up......my missis is all fine about it as long as all the bills are paid.....
A very nice overview. I have seen trains on your layout many times, but never could put all the pieces together. Interesting that your PC is connected to the ECOs. Question, I have a new loco and I cannot change the address. I have tried the Z21 and my old Hornby Railmaster system. It gives off an error. Any suggestions?
Thanks Rob... First check all the wheel contacts for any damage or even take of the body and check of any debri around the motor etc. Failing that You may have to reset the decoder to factor settings, I have had that a few times in the past.... In the Instructions of the decoder it should give a reset c.v value number for resetting the decoder on the programming track.
It should not clear the sound memory on a standard reset...but I can not guarantee if the sound will be there after a reset...but you have nothing to loose if the chip has an error.
'It's nothing special', he says.... To me it's an amazing track; especially in such a small place! Nice to see the whole track slowly now with some comments of you. I see that you still got plenty of trains in storage... put them after glass, so you can still enjoy them! (or sent them to me...) Keep us posted! I love this track. Greetz René from Holland.
Lol..many thanks Rene.... I have a few shelfs in the attic for locos but when there not on the layout most are in storage away from ultra violet light etc.
Thanks Robert, yes I will try roco rail.... The main commercial packages are very expensive I think e.g full software rr&co around €500 euro !!!! Stripped down versions are cheaper but if you want extra items from the full software like say all the loco imiges that's extra money. They seem to want to charge for upgrades to any versions you do buy like in itrain , if an upgraded version comes out which it has well that's more money please for something that should be free I think if you has bought the software.
+hovermotion And are all in perfect condition? I never used my TRIX car. I have always kept them in the packages but these days I have found that they are all broken :(
Excellent tour Jim, thanks for putting that up. I always like to see the "DEV" (Driver's Eye View) and also the "Behind the Scenes" vids too. Superb entertainment.
STEVIE B.
Thanks STEVIE.......

That railcar is a stunner....made by fleischmann to a very high standard...I have the Dutch version too in storage...
cool & nice

Hi, do you know how much you’ve spent on this so far?
I've lost count, but I do have most of the receipts but too scared to add them up 😂
How many American style locomotives do you have besides the union Pacific big boy and the Alcos and the P.R.R GG-1
I have two diesels and three steamers and one electric ,I did have more but I sold them on..
Jim
