I saw Carl live in Northern Ireland a number of years ago. I think it was around 2003 when the album 6 came out. He was phenomenal.
Great lesson Dave. Absolutely love the frantic sound of his playing. Like he could have played with the bar band in Star Wars. Keep them coming and keep up the great work 🎸
Hey David, special thanks for posting this! Carl is a huge influence an an great guy!
Great definition of intervallic. Carl really is a fantastic player. I should listen to more of (just found his channel).

Definitely an interesting player!! I hope we can get a lesson on Mark Speer, probably my favorite guitarist of this past decade.

This was yet another great breakdown on a very cool player - thanks as always David !
Great lesson! When you played the second and third clips of his performance I was hearing a Duane Allman vibe in there as well. Weird I know but the rhythm section coupled with his playing sure took me there. Thanks for this!

Fantastic lesson. Carl gave me an intervallic rimjob in 2007 and couldn't have been nicer about it.

Carl is a monster player.
Great lesson, Dave! I know you, like I, have met Carl at Sweetwater during Gearfest. Carl had a great instructional VHS tape called Intervalic Rock Guitar. It was way over my head at that time, 1988 or so. Check it out! It used to be on UA-cam
Cordplay of Deftones I can't remember if you did that or not David 😅
We would love to see that! I need to update my payment info so I can continue to be a patreon

This is a genuinely great lesson. I hardly leave a comment on YT but this time I should. Could I ask what kind of drive pedal do you use? Anyway I'm so glad to find your channel.
Id love to see a 3 for all on Andy Latimer from camel!
Am I the only one who hopes for Jack Pearson lesson ? Also allman brothers playing les brers in 2009 at beacon with jimmy herring - ton of tasty licks.
Can you do a W.A.S.P chordplay please?
Yes, WASP is totally on the list.
(Wait until "Metal Month" in October)
Can you do philip sayce licks.
All the best always
No guitar tabs ?
Carl was responsible for the guitar solo mimed by Brandon Lee.
I had a 3-hour lesson with Carl in 2009 or so. Absolutely mind-blowing. Freaking super cool guy, he answered every question and showed me his lick books. One of the greatest moments of my life, the guy is a legend.
