Appreciated his honesty on the lithium price as opposed to other pundits out there who process they are right and everyone else is wrong and have no idea what they are talking about aka Mr Lithium
Howard, I have now watched this assessment three times and you are spot on. Brines are a pain in the proverbial, they cannot be scaled, too many variables and the environmental impacts horrific. This is why Albemarle and SQM want hard rock. Hard rock is scalable, manageable and you have a defined pathway to refine the product. Now I know where you got your view on making money at 1%. Still worried about Albemarle the expertise in refining now resides in China. What do you think? Cheers

Expect demand for EV's in the U.S.A. to surge in January of 2024 when the $7,500 tax credit can be applied at time of purchase instead of waiting until buyers file their federal tax return. Refreshed model 3 and model y when available will increase demand for the best selling EV models. The Cyber Truck and Megapack stationary storage both have long wait times and use HUGE amounts of lithium. Other OEM's have been given Elon's notes on how to efficiently manufacture EVs. Domestic OEMs in particular should be investing in new plants and RnD instead of $10B stock repurchases in order to remain competitive. Sadly, they are destined to fail since as usual, they are focused on short term quarterly results instead of the CUSTOMER i.e. the ones providing the funds. Just remember, no bucks, no Buck Rogers.
Thanks for the comment and for taking the time to view our content! Excellent comments on EV demand! This pullback in lithium prices is just another opportunity to get long. 2024 will be a good year for the sector!
LMFP, NCoM, LMnO are just a few types of batteries. Na batteries use 30% Mn. Solid state LMFP appears to be where EV batteries are headed. Lithium will continue to be used across battery types. Mn oxide is preferred for chemical conversion to MnSO4. Questions that need answers: Is Mn oxide production sufficient to supply growing demand? If not, is Manganese mania next?
@@BloorStreetCapital We don’t know yet. Researchers will likely try everything with the help of AI and find many chemistries that will work. I imagine there will be at least 3 new battery types per year for the next decade.
Doubt Li will be "ousted" inside 20-30 years.....takes too long to capitalise, set up supply train, explore for and develop any required new minerals, persuade manufacturers to finance testing prototype automobiles etc etc. Ie: too hard to change again.
I think Howard should take a closer look at the Azure project and it's neighbourhood. Their magnificent spod field seems to be surrounded by similarities, ie it's sitting in the middle of a "river" of spodumene outcrops & dips. The Azure property has been renamed "Andover" (previously Roebourne) and some of it's neighbours are Andover North, Andover South, Andover North-East, Andover East etc. I also think Azure may be a lot further advanced in its development than he thinks. PS I was born in Hackney of the diamonds fame.

Better hurry. It's only a matter of time before most rechargeable batteries don't require Lithium. I'm thinking Lithium has about 7 years left.
