This is so well done! It could serve as a model for similar crafts presentations. Clear, calm, to-the-point, and excellent all-round production. Thanks.
These are gorgeous journals and your instructions are clear and visually beautiful! I am also enamored with the memo pad technique at the end! I always have so many offcuts of paper saved in my drawer, and now I know what to do with them. They would make fun gifts and stocking stuffers, too!
I love your simple beautiful books with soft colours, my Japanese friends love them, I'm from Ireland and I sew, and can't wait to make those notebooks x
so excited to try these out! i recently made my own recycled paper (we used to do it all the time at school when i was younger) and i want to make a small notebook with the pages. thanks for these easy to follow tutorials! i will definitely try out the memo pad as well :)
Oh Chanel I always flub up my stitching no matter which one i try. I have never seen the chain stitch before today. Now I know I can stitch a book together. I'm so excited. I always use the elastic band type of binding. Using clear stretchy jewelry elastic is how I did it. Well sometimes I used my sewing machine and put a few stitches on top middle and bottom of the signatures. So thank you for this tutorial. It has helped me immensely.
Awesome tutorial, this was a beautiful gift, I have no other words for it. I've enjoyed every tutorial you've done . Thank you💕💕 Presently taking wonderful Skillshare classes and enjoying. Looking forward to your shop opening when you're ready. Take care of yourself first most.🦋🦋
Thank you Chanel 🌷 I have been waiting for this! We are going to go for it! My son already made his first book! I am excited to make mine 😃 Thank you to @skillshare for sponsoring our favorite UA-camr 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
Thank you for sharing your skill! Your notebooks are lovely and creative and your video is easy to follow.i will use these stitching techniques when I make my travel notebooks.🙂
I have taught myself the 3- and 5-hole pamphlet stitches which I use all the time. However, the stitches that look like like a chain intrigue me and I’m going to try that style tomorrow! I’m glad I found your series; I’ve only watched four videos and have already learned so much, thank you!
Thank you! This is one of the best tutorials I’ve seen in a long time. It had everything I need to get started, well presented and very easy to follow. I’ve saved it for future reference and I know I’ll be back to it again and again.
I love your work, your channel, and I eagerly look forward to your book! Thank you for being so transparent through your process. It's wonderful that you have tutorial videos now. I've been amateur bookbinding for ten years, and I really need some stitching instruction. My skill needs a definite upgrade. I think I've gotten into bad habits that affect my finished product, and it's very frustrating. I make a lot of mistakes, and my books are always wonky in some respect. I kinda just decided to quit because I get so upset at the end of a project. BUT I watched your video and revisited this stitch. Thanks again for sharing your process with us.
Thank you so much for this video. I absolutely loved seeing how you make these beautiful items. Your voice, the music, the papers, designs and textures, the way you explain and instruct, and the tone of your video are so refreshing, beautiful, peaceful and inspiring. It was so calming and helpful for me to watch this. I hope to give some of your techniques a try and really look forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you!
What a wonderful tutorial session. I found it very easy to follow and quite relaxing. I have so much scrap paper and now I can put it to use. Thanks so very much! Very grateful❤
Okay, I have now watched this video 3 times. Talk about divine intervention, as in this video came at the exact right time. Self worth and those you attract are completely intertwined. I'm working on it but YES to everything you both said. ❤
A very helpful video Chanel. ❤ I am new to bookbinding and starting as soon as I have the tools. It is my mum's birthday next month and love to give something like you made in this video, so I am starting my bookbinding adventure. 💋💋
Thank you so very much! I was looking for a good video that demonstrated bookbinding technics that I could learn and use. You video is exactly what I’d hoped to find. I am so pleased that I found your channel! I am now a new subscriber!!
Hello Chanel! Wow these are all great idea and I would love to try the chain stitch. Thank you for sharing all of these, hope you are had a good day. Take care!💜
Amazing work! Your other posts mesmerizes me. Do you print your own dotted/lined paper how do you get them even on both sides? And with the sides do you all sides cutting by hand? If you would do more signatures do you do them as a block or cut the signatures individually? Big hug love your mediatie bind with me in the background! Learn so much! Iv started binding again and your videos are so mindful and helpful with my daily self care. Thank you.
I love that cover that looks like tree bark. 😁😁 I have so many pads of 12x12 scrapbooking paper, and I know I got some basic supplies for making simple "junk journals" using an awl, etc, but due to life happening (my father passing, and inspections for low-income housing, for example), things have gotten separated in a not-so-mindful way. 😖🙄 Let's just say I've put it out there to the Universe that I need a house -- not apartment -- for my creative needs and desires to be met.😂 😅
I have a punch for rounding off corners, but do not use it now. Instead I use the box cutter to just cut off a few mm slanted corners, just to stop square corners from becoming dog-eared. They become rounded with use anyway, and I find this faster and as pleasing.
About 23:30 you said it took you a while to master the notebook trimming technique: that would be a good place to explain why you’re trimming the book and add a little info that would help us master trimming. And why you round corners.
Those are good questions. Trimming the book creates a more aesthetically pleasing fore edge (the edge opposite the spine) and the pages are easier to flip. Rounding the corners prevents the pages from getting dog-eared and it's an available design choice.
Thank you so much for this! But maybe you or someone can tell me what the difference is between a saddle stitch and the 5 hole pamphlet stitch you demonstrated? 😅 probably me missing something, but also very curious!

I was already using the 3 hole stitch on my journals, but now I am excited to try other types of stitching. Thank you so much for sharing.
Good demo on the various ways to bind, and I love the piano music in the background.
I’m not good at sewing but been wanting to make my own & your videos actually shows how to do it! Tyvm

If anyone doesn't have a bone cutter, use the handles on the scissors
