Incredible Tim! As always, we all value your honesty and always look forward to watching your videos! Even the long ones. Much appreciated 😊
and by far the coolest new feature and addition to the product suite in a very long time.
Thanks for the first view, I've just received notifications that upgrades to the Tableau cloud are coming soon. Also speaking with Tableau last week to try and get into the beta, they said it should be coming out in the coming weeks!
Excellent walk through of the Pulse experience, Tim. Looking forward to exploring this myself.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Tim - I really enjoyed the style of this walkthrough seeing you use it for the first time. As you said in your conclusion, this is really well done and there feel like a ton of options to extend the Pulse functionality, whether it's through different chart types or aesthetics. Just allowing end users the ability to slice and dice the data themselves so so much more quickly feels a big leap forward.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I agree on the overall sentiment. Puts real emphasis on building good data sources.
Thank you very much for the timely sharing~
Data engineering and quality will be even more crucial now. The better the data, the better this Pulse AI will be by far. Pretty awesome stuff.
Thank you Tim for sharing this experience 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it!
Would absolutely love to watch the audit of Tableau pulse insights too, need to know how accurate it is, worth the investigation
Hi Tim, sorry if it slightly off-topic but I reacted to your comments about the transition from Server to Cloud. Have you gone through many of those yourself? If so, that sounds like a great topic for a video. We are still trying to understand all the implications of going from our rather complex Server to Cloud.
Do I see this right that Tableau Pulse charts/metrics/bars/lines are not created in Tableau? Bars are rounded and the overall design and feel of Pulse Metrics is different then Tableau.
corect Pulse charts are not built in tableau.
Really nice to see what you thought of it - I would be interested to see where you are now a few weeks in . Have you noticed that when you edit a data source pulse does not seem to pick that up ? I did not realise my metrics had gone !😢😮
Yes I have but I’m waiting for it to launch properly before making something about the things it does and doesn’t do.
Regarding the Viewer licence and Pulse. According to the licence page it's included in Viewer!
yes to access metrics but not to build metrics
my screen does not have the button to create metrics
Has anyone seen any capabilities of changing the 'to date'? I want to be able to set the latest date as of latest date of data, not current date.
Not currently supported. It will always base on today.
Can we get Tableau Pulse disabled on our site, that is opt out of beta?
The beta is opt in at present and when its public site admins will need to enable it I believe because of the way it works.
Am I right that we cannot add pre-aggregated fields in Databricks or somewhere else to Pulse? It throws an error while trying to create a metric
It's had some issues with some metrics in the advanced builder also related to aggregation but this sounds specific. Have you tried a non aggregated field to verify this is the specific thing causing the issue?
@@TableauTim Yes I tried to create an aggregate metric in advanced builder and it worked only when I modified the time range since it was choosing the last month as default.
This got enabled in March release of Cloud. documeted here: public.tableau.com/app/profile/tableau.core.product.marketing/viz/ReleaseNavigator-V21/FeaturesInVersionDash
