Ah the 80s. I used a heavy and dense Bombat in the mid 80s; probably about 33 Ozs. Later I transitioned to Ray's DiMarini Single and Double Wall bats in the mid 90s - 26-28 Ozs. Ray was a pioneer in bat technology and in using lighter weighted bats to increase bat speed and power.
Professional Softball since 99-00. I went 21 for 22 with 17 HRs in the USSSA Slow Pitch Softball "A"Bracket Tournament in Ocean City Maryland. Sponsored by WORTH. Only batter to Dent an PST WORTH BAT! I was denting every EST Bat left&right like a beer can. I would just turn the bat & Dent it again
I don't think so. He got the job making the video and a partnership with ESPN because of how hard he hit the ball and his relentless drive to be the best! He started his Bat company in a barn wit 🥜 & a aircraft engineer. He did all the r&d himself
I used to hit 💣💣💣 with them black Demarini Double Distance bats back in the day. I used them all Z-Core Titanium, ESTs/PST, FREAK1&2, I had a Mizuno🍊 Crush 😍 but only could use in NSA. I Hit 1 That's Still Going
I was thinking that too. If you remember, I was a kid, but I always been around the game, Easton had a Titanium Softball Bat that was illegal for Game use but it killed the ball! I think the broad in this video was using it
But in 88 people were using 35 oz bats, so to use a 33 oz bat instead was good advice. Since the advent of the 26-27 oz high performance bats it would be good advice to use a 29 oz bat for some.
@@BluesMachine999 I finished watching this video today and in the credits it said Facilities: Wallace Marine Park in Salem, Oregon. No biggie. Softball sure has changed with eliminating the HR trot (maybe that is only in the A and Major Division though). I also think hitting back up the middle at the pitcher has been frowned upon - but I could be wrong. I haven't played in years, I just have watched some highlights of the Major division on video.
@@jeffmattson5766 I was probably thinking about his weekly tv show filming at Delta. I was a pitcher for over 30 years and I remember all the hits up the middle when they were playing Spin The Clown!!!
Ray best softball instructor ever. RIP my friend

Crazy that the lightest bat he’d used at the time of this video was 33oz. I’ve never even seen a 33oz bat. Now everyone is swinging 25 & 26 oz bats.
This video has been round since my birth and I'm jst finding all of them now
dam good vid R.I.P. Ray

Okay great, why do you think you were hitting so good?
Thanks for posting this!
This was before he became a monster hitter!! Legendary!

How weird is it to see Ray DeMarini swinging an Easton bat?! 🤯

Dem shorts tho
33 oz bat is light? I am swinging 26 oz. I don’t think I have even seen a 33 oz bat.
Back then, 33oz was what 25-26 is now.
"laugh at ya, and hide their kids from you" LOL
If you’re a great hitter I recommend you use a bat 3 ounces heavier than you think you need. Not 2-3 ounces lighter like everyone says

Was this filmed at Delta Park in Portland?
@@jeffmattson5766 Yes it was!
