- At the 2019 Rooftop Tent Rally, we caught up with our friend Lavan for a walk-around tour of his 2020 Winnebago Revel.
"I needed something that I could mountain bike and hike, have a dog in. Then shower and roll into work and still look respectable," Lavan said. For Laven, the 2020 Revel just "checked all those boxes."
The Revel features several fold-down tables and surfaces for cooking, work, and rec time. It'll do gravel roads and four-wheel drive for Lavan's beach camping. It's other amenities include great AC, a bathroom, a dorm-sized fridge, an induction cooktop, standard-sized kitchen sink, and a cassette toilet with removable black tank. It has a standup shower, a generous cargo space, an additional outdoor shower, and enough room for Lavan's four-legged buddy, Lucy, to stretch out and nap! For his own sleep space, the bed is on a lift. With the press of a button, the bed comes down and instant nap possibilities open up! For miscellaneous storage, he's got plenty of BROG gear; including rollup dump pouches, a headrest pouch kit, and a slew of Velcro pouches. The cabinets in the Winnebago all have a carpeted interior; making them the perfect place for organizing and sticking multiple BROG Velcro Pouches.
"It's the perfect [vehicle for] when you want to be outside and do cool stuff, but you still have to work. [For when] you still want to live in some comfort." Laven said.

Love those Revels! How do you feel leaving expensive bikes hanging outside re theft? Main reason I would want a van with a garage is to keep my bike(s) inside!

Hi, we are in Richmond and looking for a RV van. Can people visit the Roof Top Tent Rally? It’s hard to look having never been in one or seen one up close.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions put in place by the Commonwealth of Virginia the event is limited to 250 total people and is currently sold out. So while under normal circumstances people could visit the event for just a day this year we cannot allow that.

My wife and I are wondering how off-road capable is it? Can you get to some good hiking trails on rocky roads?
This vehicle would be almost perfect if you could run the roof ac off engine idle.
I really don’t understand why this can’t be done. It’s a premium vehicle (expensive). What am I missing? Would not lithium batteries + 2nd generator not work? I’m surprised no 3rd party company has come out with an upgrade. As someone who lives in Texas, lived in Phoenix for 5 years, no AC (except by generator or shore) is an absolute deal breaker. Less expensive camper vans manage. I’m genuinely curious as to “why” this limitation.
They FIXED this and many other concerns i sent to WINNEBAGO for July 2020, the AC will run off of lithium batteries:) MANY MANY upgrades this year friends!

You shouldn't be dumping gray water just anywhere and in National Parks it's illegal, even on gravel roads.
I guess if you are using natural earth friendly products that biodegrade and digging deep enough holes in out-of-the-way areas it is like pooping and peeing in nature.
How is the heating system - no propane, correct? No noise??
Uses a Espar diesel heater which is supplied by the fuel tank....very efficient

Are there any regrets to buying the Revel? Did you ever consider buying a 4x4 Sprinter and doing your own mods?
Right? If you can find a Revel for around $100K that’s reasonable, but $175 or more, yeouch! I’m thinking sprinter 4x4 and building it myself. That way, I also know how everything works (water/solar) and can upgrade/change it up as I want..

Seems more like a Winnebago advertisement. No separate wardrobe as well as a low cost shower room are real bummers! Tell the truth and don't put the dust under the carpet!!!!
Neither of us have any Winnebago affiliation. so there is no up side for us . He has been happy with the van.

This wasn't a review video. This is a walk-around of an enthusiast's vehicle. No lack of bias is implied. We're not in the business of reviewing vehicles. There are plenty of other channels for that.
Bardamu I like the fact that shower space can convert to additional storage when not in use. If I’m not very active I’ll shower once a week, because most days just requires hand-towel baths. Camp life or bricks and sticks, we shower too much anyway.
