Here is the reason that Ming’s panda is so big: Ming got her panda later than usual, the normal age is 15-16 but Ming got hers at 18. Your panda’s size is determined on how emotional you were feeling at the time you get it. The first time Ming got the panda is when she was fighting with her mom over Jin. Ming was so angry when she got the panda, so that’s why her panda was so immensely huge.
Actually Ming's panda is based off of Sun yei's panda where it was super huge to protect her home from bandits and Ming thought that 4 town were bandits and were trying to take her daughter

The panda gets really big when defending or fighting off intruders or soldiers in the past. Ming thought 4 * town was a gang of bad people trying to do bad with Mei, and that’s why Ming was giant, trying to defend Mei
My theory on 4Town’s name is that one of the boys joined later, after the name was chosen. The boy band might have already been called 4town due to its number of members, and then they decided not to change the name when another member was added and it became a group of five.
