I've built something similar based on Z590i and node 304. with PCI-E bifurcation I was able to add a total of 9 disks: 3 nvme ssd, 2 sata ssd, 4 hard drives
The R610 is a great machine. I just got tired of the heat and noise it generated. If I had another room to store it in I would keep using it, but I don't so this was the next best thing.
So, the M.2. I might have missed it. I watched the trueNAS install video first and then skimmed thru the build. You installed Windows to the M.2? when the TrueNAS is running your accessing the NAS server from another computer right via a web browser? What happens to the Windows install? you Can't run Windows and the TrueNAS system simultaneously, or? is it one or the other?
This server is for home use not business; so no I'm not worried about it it for this machine. Don't get me wrong though if I find a deal on some I will buy it and install it. It's just not a major concern of mine.
@@LoResDIY Curious if you ever found any reasonable ECC ram. I bought some of that NEMIX ram from Amazon and got tons of errors with both kits I tried. I'm doing the same as you and going with non-ECC ram for now.
This is exactelly the content that I was looking for. Simple and stright to the point! Liked und sub.
Awesome, thank you!
I used the fractal design node 804 for my build. Like the fact you have hard drive trays with this one.
That was my second choice. The hard drive trays is what swayed me

It's fun how you're looking at replacing your r610. I've been thinking about that lately also.

Another quality video, keep it up 🙂
Thanks, will do!

Great video. Thank you
Glad you liked it!
What are you doing with your R610 and the additional stuff you've done to it?? Looking to sell it as a package??
Gonna keep it all and use it for playing around with new stuff. Sorry
