inhaling stucco over the years is similar to smoking cigarettes at first it doesn't beat you up but after 25 years say goodnight to health and a big helloooooooo to ills.

This is by far the most informative channel regarding stucco and plaster. I was thinking if only you guys were in my area, I'd hire you to fix my potential future screw up. Then I went on your website and saw the 510 area code, you guys are in my area! You may be getting a call from me if I take on more than I can chew with my patio project.

Morning mac plastering, hey brother, It was awful the first time, did in fact hurt my ear blowing out excess water, but I felt like a new man the next day after close to 14 days of hell, but my ear did hurt a bit, never made that mistake again. I'd take a hurt ear as opposed to not having the energy or dire to get out of bed any day.

Morning Peter “Jdcap26” Agostini, thank you,
This nasty method is what I do, the first time I hurt my eardrum as I didn't realize blowing to get the water out was like diving deep underwater,
The hurt eardrum lasted about 4 hours, however, my suffering from sinus issues was gone.
I'd take this trade any day.
Don't try this horrible shit as it works for me but is awful and dangerous.

Morning Wayne Frazier, a few folks have mentioned this method, must be popular.
I find the forced water from the shower or dunking my head in a tub while bathing a drag as is, a netti pot sounds like it would prolong this nasty method of cleaning one's sinuses.
When old man Norman explained his ancient technique to me, it seemed to take me forever the first time and was like self torture, but in a shower I can if I must get it done in a couple minutes, Don't try it as it sucks, literally.
I try and remember to wear real dust mask to prevent if I can,
Or if I'm working with Jason, he''ll say dad, stop, I'll go get the mask for you,
      thanks for the tip.

Hi John Rainbird interesting question, when my wife talks a bath she puts in Magnesium, himalayan sea salts, red mill baking soda and quite a few other minerals, she's a biochemist and very health conscious, when I'm in the tub with her, (yes it's a very large customs jet tub) i will do the sinus flush with the same water as it has all the minerals needed for this nasty way of clearing out the crap inhaled from my jobs, usually I wait till she's out :-)

I did a job on my home it was tearing down old plaster and removing the old insulation the home is about 100 years old and the insulation was shredded up newspaper with cotton like fiber in it I had a cheap paper mask but no ventilation in the room and ended up breathing in a lot of the dirt and particles and have been having some pain in my right lung any information would be muchly appreciated I'm a little worried on how safe it was to expose myself to it it was about 3 to 4 day job and then I was smart enough to go buy a respirator mask but question is how dangerous do you think or did I oppose any risk to myself and should I get checked up thank you very much really love your videos very helpful

Good evening Vinnie dude, sorry to hear this as that sucks, brush your tongue super well for a few days as that stuff gets stuck in the back of your tongue, sounds weird as it is, activated charcoal helps too, or you can do the nose thing in this video, it's no fun, in fact, I chocked the first time I tried it.
But when I get this feeling I do it and it works, this goofy but effective idea was told to me by an old-timer.
plus, blow your nose often as those nanoparticles clog up the entire sinus big time, not hard enough to blow out an eardrum, but enough to get that stuff out!
Hopefully, you didn't find any rat poop or nest in that stuff, as like a fool I did and was beat up for a while for it, as I wasn't wearing a proper mask, that won't happen to me again, doubtful to you either.

Howdy Mr Mac Daddy, had to google neti pot, I prefer the shower or a bathtub myself when I am forced to waterboard myself, kidding as I can do this difficult and nasty stuff quite easily these days.
as far as baking soda I do have this daily, the red mill brand.
Of course we also have a filter on the bath to remove chlorine and fluoride, and me wife who is a bio chemist adds her magnesium, baking soda, and five other type of salts, if I have to resort to this procedure to flush the toxins from my sinuses.

Hi all I need some help/advice. I was working on fixing some bricks and inhaled dry, unmixed mortar dust. It's been a week and I am waking up in the middle of the night with shortness of breath and mucus in my lungs. If anyone has an experience similar to mine please let me know if you did and how it was resolved. I am hoping I won't have to deal with this forever. Thanks

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  6 років тому

Howdy David, I'm sorry to hear this brother, in this video, I do indeed explain how, "I" deal with any toxin I breathe in, which happens throughout an average day for us. However, the method is this video is not for the faint of heart. The method I explain in this video was told to me by an old man who I thought was crazy until I tried it.
They do sell what are termed, Neti pots to rinse the toxins out, thus help remove sinus infections.
Never tried one as I use the stronger methods mentioned myself.
Another way is to clean your tongue as far back to your throat as possible, my wife has this cool u shaped copper tongue scraper that remove not only the top stuff but deep down toxins off the tongue as it may be parasites, dust and or mold as this crap actually embeds itself.
I've also used a toothbrush if nothing else is available, the idea is to give a helping hand to our immune system to do its job and to shove this stuff into our colon where it can be eliminated.

For guys too macho to wear masks, in addition to the lye, lime, and asbestos mentioned in the video, think also of the tiny particulates of lead paint during plaster demo work. Long-term daily exposure to all of that can make for a lot of poisonous grit in the lungs over time.

Morning jacob kindsvatter, I was never provided a dust mask when I worked for the at least 7 different plastering companies either, back in the day either,
As I was telling a fella earlier my research shows that the biggest bone in the human body the femur, when busted it repairs in 6 weeks.
Our bodies have the incredible capacity to heal quickly, sometimes it just needs a little help, like preventing dust from poisoning our sinuses and lungs and gloves from handling toxin, the list goes on, these common sense precautions are not so common.

    wear a mask.
Ok .it looks like I'm in the minority here, so please go easy on me and I hate to be argumentative but it's always been a pet peeve of mine when people get LIME confused with LYE.
I was a tile helper then setter for some years so I have some experience mixing LIME, PLASTIC CEMENT, SAND and WATER in order to "float" walls mostly in shower or tub surround builds. Much in the same way one would scratch and browncoat an exterior wall except we use wood strips (like what wood lattice is made from) in order to get a more precise plumbed and squared wall. LIME is what messes and dries your skin up. . It is corrosive
I just got into a semi heated debate with my buddy and we searched the internet including cement ingredient sites and I couldn't find one instance of proof that ANY construction building material contains LYE. Many people get this confused.
In fact LIME is the main ingredient in manufacturing cement. I didn't know this before today. But since I mixed my share of wall mud (use plastic cement and lime for sticky cement) and deck mud ( portland cement and sand, no lime for easier rodding and stamping down) for various tile installation in showers, tubs, fireplaces, etc. I happen to know at least about plaster cement walls. I realize that premixed stucco contains other ingredients probably polymers, glues and colorants but as far as I can find NO LYE. I could be wrong but like my DAD used to say (RIP):
"i may not always be right, but I'm never wrong!"
so after a couple hours of searching and reading websites including some chemical sites that were over my head in understanding my friend could not show me any evidence that any building material contains LYE.
What I did find a lot of was LYE is in soap and drain cleaners.
LIME is probably what is causing hands to crack and dry out.
Please prove me wrong. if you have a link to a site that can show me otherwise I would like to see it.
PLEASE WEAR A MASK. if you work with these building materials on a daily basis and don't wear a mask, reconsider incorporating this into your routine. My dad was a tile setter. I, his helper until one day he went to Dr for a back ache. Turns out he had a semi-rare disease called scleroderma. He never worked again. Permanant Disability. The disease ate away his muscles, tightened his skin to the point of ripping open. He had a hard time even picking up a light bucket and a bunch other symptoms he wouldn't talk about with me. He lived for another 2 years getting progressively worse. The disease not only took his career from him. He didn't get to enjoy his grandkids growing into young adults or get to experience alone time with the wife like he deserved. He was robbed. Back then there was no known cause. One day I was reading the OC Register and it had a full page article regarding scleroderma. The cause they were thinking and preliminary tests were leaning towards:
SILICA SAND EXPOSURE. So wear a mask. Look uncool and enjoy your grandkids.

My buddy has learned a lot watching your channel as he is doing a stucco job and you've helped him a lot. so I hope you don't take offense to my disagreeing about Lye. It is a petty technicality that doesn't take away from your years experience and all the people you have helped. thank you

Howdy Jayson, you're right; I demand my kids all wear masks. I have inhaled enough to kill at least 5 people; why am I not dead? Perhaps I use these deadly toxins as fuel? Not. Am I 100 percent? Not even close. I understand what Lime, lye, silica, and most molds do when inhaled. I have perhaps more videos on the subject than most; such is life. I believe sugar and alcohol to be similar, but that's another story.🤔
