- In this video I am comparing my Dayans made by the famous Delhi Tabla makers Ustad Qasim khan saeb & Sons with the famous Calcutta Tabla maker Mukta Das.
1. QK- 6 inch black shesham wood approx 5-6kg. Age approx 6 years. Professional HQ Dayan.
2. MD- 5 3/4 inch Mahagony special design wood approx 5kg. Professional HQ Dayan.

Thanks for this video. It's a real treat for us tabla afficianados. You mentioned that the Qasim Khan tabla is 5 or 6 years old. Could you also please tell me how old the Mukta Das was? And it's also be wonderful if you could make these videos a bit longer and explain how heavily/lightly you have used them.... which ones you use for concerts, which ones for riyaz etc.
Amal Nicholas Thank you Amal. The Mukta Dayan is only 1 week old as you can see from the skin and is still opening up. The QK I have used for mainly concerts over the years but now I use it as my practice Dayan. I do not want to talk to much in my comparison videos instead let the Tabla do the talking lol. ❤️😊

Mukto Das ji ...is best
I have a Mukta Das C# 5.5". It is heavy Dark Sheesham at least 5 kilos. I have never been able to get it to sound good. I am thinking that it got exposed to too many different environmental conditions and may need a new head.
Qasim is amazing.... five years later still the better sound.....
That's pretty good for 6 years. But I'm sorry to say, customer service of BOTH these guys is horrid. If you don't approach them through your guru, you are likely to be ignored or be sent a piece of rubbish as tabla (for the normal price)
Somnath Sarkar- I have personally never had this issue Somnath bhai, as I have only contacted them directly and they have all been very helpful and provided me exactly what I have asked for.

@@jigggro I have purchased a couple tablas from Qasim Khan Niyazi & Sons recently and have had a great experience buying from them here in the USA. I was nervous that I might not receive the quality they show in their videos the first time around, but I was sent AMAZING tablas and was treated very kindly even provided videos before they sent them to me. My guru was amazed with the quality as well. I did correspond with them through email. I hope you will try again sometime!

Hi all. A small update. I decided to go with Prince Musical and Gullu. Have to say that they are almost as good. I think 90% there. For the slight saving you also get money wise, I am more than happy.

Hi Raj bhai. I just bought from Ishtiaq Khan (Prince Musical). I have to say that he was easy to talk to and cooperative for the most part. I think his tabla is 90% as good as Niyazi, 80% as good as Vhatkar, and just as good as Gullu. (This is my humble opinion 🙏)
He is also cheaper than all of the above. NB: he is a bit on the new side when it comes to EFT payments etc, so be sure he gives you correct details.
Btw I am also overseas, but every thing reached me in good order.
