I resonate with what you said about place: My parents met in Sequoia National Park and took me there every summer as a young child and teenager....That area has stayed inside me in my heart on a very deep level, I am shaped by it, The Giant Sequoias are my guardians and I am protecting them as well donating etc.
Earlier today I watched you on the Collective Trauma Online Summit video and was inspired. Definitely, "Woman Stands Shining" is a very apt name for you...your spirit. Watching/hearing/feeling you in this video, I woke up and grew up a bit more. I was quite moved by you, and surprised by how much. As someone who's been all about developing and evolving as a self, consciousness, and spiritually for decades, I had come to not value what I saw as the "backward" ways of shamanism, talking to/with the earth, the practices of "indigenous" peoples, especially "tribe" mentality in general. Being "pre-rational" it all just seemed, well, irrational, basically magical/mythical, not compatible with rationalistic modern and postmodern sensibilities. Fortunately, post-postmodern awareness makes room in awareness once again to have a chance to hear pre-modern, pre-scientific, "calls" to us; to hear "voices" that can benefit us in our current world. I was particularly touched by your moving plea for us all to allow all beings, five-fingered and otherwise, on the "hoop of life" to be listened to, to attemp to hear their/that understanding of reality and life--as obscure or irrelevant as it might seem to be in the moment of listening--but to continue listening deeply, attentively, at least opening our minds to a state of wondering, allowing ourselves a chance to actually "hear" what's trying to come through in the words, the energies, the feelings, beyond just the mysteriousness or seeming "weirdness" of it. And, yes, hearing the true feminine (and true masculine, for that matter). The power-over paradigm is one that seems to have adulterated and debased healthy enactments/expressions of gender. That said, I'm wondering if we had/have to go through that, evolutionally speaking--like Edison going through so many failed-but-necessary attempts at the light bulb--to find and realize what works in gender expression and relating. Surely, the journey continues. Let me say this, and pardon any awkwardness in saying so but, thank you for going through "the white mans" educational system to bridge any communication gap so that I would have a higher likelihood of "getting" you (with sincere apologies for my ignorance). In deep gratitude for you and your work...
Thank you Woman Stands Shining. Kia kaha. You give me a place to stand when I have been lost . Knowing but without a place to be. Thank you for speaking so we can hear. Love you so much.
