When I was 9 years old, the community theater did a production of "Bugsy Malone" and I played Fat Sam. I had a blast. My classmate's older brother was Knuckles and I loved saying "Don't crack your knuckles". The stage set of the speakeasy was awesome and I had an elevated office with a staircase. When it came to final show, after the ending song, everyone was spraying silly string and all I could say to the audience was "That's show business" and everyone laughed. My dad recorded the final show and man, do I remember having so much fun as Fat Sam. ^_^

Excellent choreography. The highlight of the movie. Fancy footwork. They form a line, a circle, a v, then a line again, all while tapping. Very talented girls. And the outfits are cute. Love the hats.
Lyndell Jones I think you have to been involved in dancing to appreciate the choreography. Even tho I hated going to dancing as a child,it's the first thing I notice when I watch movies like this as an adult. I absolutely love this movie, but I wouldn't be happy if my daughters wore shorts as tight and as small as these girls.
@Paco Jones Actually Paco I'm not a dancer. And you don't necessarily have to be involved in dance to appreciate how great it is. The outfits are quite sexy but remember the children in this show are playing adults, and that's what the showgirls wore back then. I was referring mostly to the puffy sleeves and the hats anyway.
Lyndell Jones There was probably just as many paedo's around in the 70's, but normal folk are more aware of what they look for these day. I never even thought about their costumes until I read some of the posts on here. I feel like I can't watch it anymore.
@Paco Jones You're overreacting. They don't look bad at all. They look cute. They're pretending to be grownup showgirls. In the whole movie all the kids are pretending to be adults in grown up attire. The movie is fabulous and this scene was one of the highlights of the movie. They dance really good and the music is great.
Watched this film recently for the first time in about 30 years. What a great idea to have only children and teens acting in a movie. Unique and hasn't been done before nor since. Great dancing, songs, sets, costumes and I love how the producers came down to the children's level using pedal cars instead of real cars, splurge guns replacing tommy guns and fizzy drinks replacing hard liquor! Couldn't believe that this was made as far back as 1976. I thought it was early 80's at least. Thanks Alan Parker for making this movie starring kids, for kids .... RIP sir.
@@cattyelse2372 , I was born 1970, this came out around 1976, but i didn't watch it till i was about 13 when we got our first VCR, then hadn't seen it for years till bought DVD about 5 years a go
Watching for the first time in a couple of years as Alan Parker died today. My eldest daughter was in this when it was a school effort like I would think many schools have done it over the years. Great film .
+mikeykm1993 I was cast as Fat Sam today, and I'm kind of nervous, purely because I would be pretty good casting for Dandy Dan, but I'm not really suited for playing Fat Sam at all.
Matt, King of the North They must have cast you for a reason. They obviously believe in you, so just try and believe in yourself :D I'm sure you will do great.
Eleanor Violet I'm guessing you are asking me, not him, but considering I just did my shows last week, I can say that they went very well. Lots of people, even people who I don't know, told me that I great and the show as a whole was phenomenal. I really managed to work out how to do the role and in the end I am very pleased with how my performance went.
I sooooo love the choreography in this dance and those girls picked up the style so well, I'd almost buy that they WERE actually girls from the era, they were that good
Munkastrap4 Right? Some people have called this scene a little creepy because of the way that these young girls are dancing but that’s just not how it is, this is accurate to the dancing style of the roaring 20s and I love it! Great film!
@@BCS1105 only if they are that way inclined. I think it captured a perfect scene from the time and the kids, now oldish adults played the parts amazingly. Still in my top 10 films, top 5 childhood films

Dexter Fletcher also played Sgt. John Martin of Easy Company of the 1/506th PIR of the 101st Airborne Division, US Army, in the mini-series "Band Of Brothers."
Bugsy Malone film [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugsy_Malone] was a 70's musical, set in the time of the US alcohol prohibition. It's unique nature comes from the fact that the cast were all children. I'm amazed this hasn't been cancelled yet. Certainly wouldn't be made today.
If this got ‘cancelled’ then we’d be erasing both Art and the reflection of the Prohibition era of America.
