  • The day is young and a zoo awaits, welcome to the channel’s debut of the Fort Worth Zoo! Elephants. We all know them, we all love them. I mean what more could you possibly want? I thought I'd be nice, and start us off a little out of order, with their literal biggest attraction, THE BRAND NEW ELEPHANT SPRINGS. The springs made its debut in April of 2021 marking phase two in the zoo's 100 million dollar 'A Wilder Vision Project'. This development not only tripled their elephant's space but it provides an enriching and incredibly well-themed environment for animals and people alike. In this extensive episode, we'll cover the exhibit in its entirety, meet the family, and stick around till the end for THE CUTEST BABY ELEPHANT OF ALL TIME.

Question about the sorry excuses of primate exhibits. What do they contain?

Though I didn't record a full species list for these exhibits, in particular, I do know that there were outdoor enclosures for Gorillas, Orangutans, Bonobos, and Mandrills just to name a few. I say the term "sorry excuses" because the entire complex is completely outdated and naturism like foliage is entirely non-existent. To be honest the public indoor dayrooms are even worse and are nothing more than small dark cave-like spaces made of concrete and concrete only.

@@TheVirtualZoo I just visited Fort Worth today, while I see your point but the mandrill and gibbon yards are actually pretty decent for their size its just the issue of great apes

2:06 Sorry excuses? They're fine habitats for what they are, and honestly it's a bit unprofessional to describe them as such if you're going to expand your brand. I think your scripts need an editor tbh.

This is one aspect to doing zoo tours I'll never understand - giving our opinions. Part of the job is to review the places we visit, sometimes in not so subtle ways. Movie, Disney, and etc travel channels give their honest opinion, why can't we? Most of the time it's not because of the opinion, it's the fact that we gave one at all. Public opinion can inspire change. It's one example, and it has nothing to do with animals, but when I criticized the Georgia Aquarium for looking like a mall, the execs got word. I was told personally by one of them that because of that comment, they are reworking the Plaza to look less like a department store.
You'll also find these Primate exhibits are well criticized on Zoochat. I don't quite understand the editor comment, writing wise, this is about as complex as one could get when it comes to tours. I feel half attempted to borrow some of his lines.

@@ZooTours I mean, there's better ways of going about it - instead of saying sorry excuses, you (not *you* you, a hypothetical you) could just describe them briefly and move on, or if you must describe them, maybe "uniquely designed". At the end of the day, these kinds of UA-cam channels showcase zoos and provide free advertising.

I would wait and see what is in them before judging, they'd be fine for colobus, patas, langurs, lemurs, and other fair sized primates, gibbons maybe, but great apes no.

@ZooTours oh this is precious coming from a guy who blocked me over giving my opinions on his video 😂
