Aw thank you so much! No way really, wow I bet it was sensational, I need to get back to London to watch a show, I've not been since lockdown! Thank you again for your kind comment x
+claire Louisa cummins The Way of the World is a play written by the English playwright William Congreve. It premiered in early March 1700 in the theatre in Lincoln's Inn Fields in London. It is widely regarded as one of the best Restoration comedies and is still occasionally performed. At the time, however, the play struck many audience members as continuing the immorality of the previous decades, and it was not well received.
Love this adaptation. Can I just ask, did you change a few words/omit some lines? I'm studying it for my exam and the speech is slightly different in parts. Good job!
claire Louisa cummins your awesome on take me out it would be great if you were my date then we be a team you know go coffee an i do backflips me you know so clare you simply the best better all the rest
Hi, im so sorry i just found this! Millamant is generally conceded to be the most charming heroine in Restoration comedy. She is a fitting partner-antagonist to Mirabell. She maintains the same self-control to the very end of the proviso scene. She too loves but shows no sentiment. She is airy, teasing, light, beautiful, tantalizing, and infuriating. Mirabell is aware of her faults - and comes to love them. The reader is aware of her faults and comes to love them too. She is affected, coy, and arch, and we would have her no other way. She can be sweet and charming, but there can be acid and irony in her wit.
Yes, your right it's a duo, they are both in the scene, but I have to perform monologue a while back, so I took pieces from the scene, hope thats helps x
Brilliant!
I had an opportunity to see this performance in London in 1978, it was a 'singular' experience and one I'll never forget!!
