Excellent! All people who loved and were terrified of their caregivers (equally) ~ should listen & learn. Bravo Dr. Siegel!

Beautiful, I follow Dr. Gabor Mate’ as well. Both of you are discussing how personality forms as an adaptation to the environment.

In answer to your question (attachment theory... trendy...?), unfortunately, no. In fact, Siegel and Jerry Kagan got into a lively debate a couple years ago after Kagan proclaimed attachment theory was dead (he asserts temperament is the important factor). Many in the therapeutic community find attachment theory quote helpful in working with patients/clients. There is excellent research still going on both in the U.S. and Europe. But "trendy," no.

As of this writing the concept of Mindsight has moved on. Funny how the information was out there already regarding Consciousness & Mindsight when this was first uploaded. The CIA FOIA requests had them put their CRV 'data' online. There have been people like Schwartz & Radin using science to further this field since the 1970's.
Regardless, this video needs an update.

Is attachment theory quite a trendy thing right now?
It seems extraordinary that i have learned about it recently through Harris Harrington's Depersonalisation treatment program (i suffer from that disorder)- then on a totally different tack- through iq research leading to 'n-back' games/ brain plasticity research (how i found this video) i have encountered it again and Dr. Siegel here even makes mention of the fairly uncommon disocciative states associated with disorganised attachment etc..

Seems like mindsight is simply introspection. I‘m guessing he's engaged in the annoying practice of making up a new word in order to try to escape the negative connotations associated with the old word, and to artificially inflate the sense of importance about the practice (and maybe himself, he's not talking about introspection, this is m i n d s i g h t, an innovation of his!). Not that it isn‘t important of course, and not that he hasn’t come up with new ideas and research related to this. Overall this is great stuff, his are interesting and useful books.
