"I'm gonna upload all of the footage..."
So that's why google crashed 2 days ago
"What's going on??"
"Oh, it's just that British guy uploading 800 terabytes of footage to our servers again"
As someone who’s been watching these guys for 7+ years, hearing “Hello the internet, I’m Gav” but then not hearing “I’m Dan” just shattered me 🥺🥺😭😭
"hello the internet, im gav..."
[silence]
*me crying*
@@pristiq. Dan lives in England and Gav in Texas so they can't meet due to covid
Google One: "Here's our best plan, 2 TB of cloud storage!"
Gav: "Here's five Phantom raw files."
@ Dinner-fork tongue
i first read your " Google One " reply to Slice of Sparta
as a pun on " good one " then i realized what the emote was - i did not have my reading glasses on.
You would need 10 Gavs, in order to have 20 TB of storage, in order to put a single, 5-second of raw filming, file jajajaja.
Dan's been gone for so long that Gavin's Labcoat now looks as dirty as his.
I think Dan's been gone so long you've forgotten how dirty his labcoat is cos Gav's isn't even close
If this goes on much longer they'll have to change to _"The Slow Mo Guy"_
The upbeat music, the bright colors and fun dorky idea, and Gav just chatting with the camera, all just made me grin through this video. It was very nice and uplifting
6:17 Is it just me, or is this shot really aesthetically pleasing? The mousetraps aren't even being set off yet, it just looks so mesmerizing to see the colored rows like this.
6:01 "there'll be a lot of people wanting just to skip to the slow-mo on this one"
no way, buddy, watching you set these up is one of the best parts
I would’ve watched the whole thing but I have school in a couple minutes, couldn’t fit it in
I’m surprised that he hasn’t replaced Dan with a volleyball named Wilson yet
Poor Gav, having to do all this on his own. If you got even one person to help it would have taken 5 hours instead of 10. But I admire the dedication.
I actually would love to watch you clean all that up. the mousetraps going off as you try to sweep is very funny
"I'm Gav. Thank you for joining me, in this big empty void."
This sentence holds deeper meaning for all of us.
"Most mousetraps purchased with absolutely no intention of trapping a mouse..." Sounds solid, I`ll call the guiness guys!
Yeah, Guinness don't bother to verify anything any more for their puff piece books, so they're the perfect choice.
How Gav got that shot at 7:26 - 7:44 without any of the other cameras filming a drone or camera in the frame is beyond me, such a cool shot!
I believe it's done by setting up a camera on rails behind the mouse trap, and then zoom in. lock the focus and pull the camera backwards.
@@0042090 Yeah it took me a while to figure it out but I think you're right! Telephoto dolly pull from a distance
@@tylre No, he did two takes. One with the wide cameras, and one with a camera on a dolly being moved over the mousetraps. If you look at the close up shot at 6:43, you'll see that the mouse traps are falling in a completely different configuration than the first shot. So he did at least two takes.
"now would be a very inconvenient time for an earthquake"
*implies that there is ever a convenient time for an earthquake*
In 1992 an Egyptian student's PhD Thesis was that there was going to be an earthquake of a specific magnitude centered specifically in the city of Fayoum, his PhD Thesis was rejected, then a major earthquake occured in Egypt, centered in the city of Fayoum, immediately getting him his PhD, and I think that's the only time ever a person thought an earthquake would really be convenient at the moment.
@@Chad_Eldridge no I was there at the time of the earthquake, and that was a very popular story in Egypt.
It was oddly satisfying seeing Gavin run in the background at the start of the slowmo shots. I think it helped to put things into perspective, how fast anything in the shot was happening.
Exactly! I was thinking the same thing. So many things seem to happen in the blink of an eye, but some things happen so much faster than others
Yes a familiar reference motion in frame would help all these slomo shots on YT
Gavin: *Snaps his fingers nine times*
Dan: *watching and smiling* Good..... Good.....
That is what a 99% success rate looks like. For 99% of the mousetraps, he managed not to get snapped. The remaining 1%, M*****F*****!!1!
WAIT! How did you get this shot?! 7:34 That's clearly a close-up tracking shot, but I didn't see you move in to get it on any of the other angles?!
Amazing video as always! I admire your dedication!
@@Bobthehuntedbobcat Yeah, the perspective is definitely changing. It's a moving camera. He did another take for the close up and moving shots. At 6:43 you can see that the initial dropped mouse traps are landing in a different configuration from the wide shots. So at least two takes confirmed.
Thank you Gav for putting countless painstaking hours into making this masterpiece for us all by yourself ❤️
"it's not even close to 1000"
actually, you set up 30 rows with 29 mousetraps each so you set up 870 traps! that's pretty close to 1000. I admire your perseverance Gav!
Not to sound like a smart-Alik, but it was 15 rows of 31 and 14 rows of 29 which is 871, but I like your number better. And I'm quite surprised someone else actually bothered so props to you!
OK, at the start of slow mo it was approximately 32 rows of 30, which is 960 and that is my final answer. Though the rows aren't perfectly lined up so there is room for error...
The worst bit about Covid is knowing that if it didn't exist, Dan would be there to jump into the mouse traps
So much effort and a fair amount of pain put in for this video, I'm glad it all worked out, it looked great. Thanks Gav.
I like the change in music, I know Gavin mentioned doing it recently. It changed the energy of the slow mo in a good way
I like how he still says “we” even when Dan isn’t there
I know, where's he been!? Someone else said it's something to do with flights and Covid... Woo. So hopefully he'll be back one day :D
Hey Gav, Gav... don't freak out... The cameras were off Gav.. THE CAMERAS WERE OFF
That would be horrid but the camera is always on they just press a button that makes it save what happened
Thank you for putting as much joy out into the world as you and Dan do. I'm always left with a huge smile after watching your videos, and it's a much-needed respite from the world today. Cheers!
This made me smile. Just so gorgeous seeing all those colors mix mid-air
"Here's my bucket of mouse traps"
"oh and there's my box of mannequin arms"
@@bradohms I'm going to go out on a limb and assume my puns are actually welcome here
Not hearing "and Dan" after Gav says "I'm Gav" just feels wrong.
@@jeimairuzu7056 Gavin lives in texas while Dan lives in the UK and because of covid they cannot meet up to film
We are all thankful and really appreciate all the effort you put into making your videos. The preparation takes so much time, but the end result is over so quickly.
This video changed my life. The beauty of it was incredible. and then the shock factor at the end when you realize how fast all of them went off wow just wow.
That pay off was incredible. And hearing Gav say "I appreciate you"
I'm genuinely impressed that seemingly no human error was made during the setup of all of this, not counting the fingers being snapped. I would probably have set it off before recording.
The only exasperating thing was his sprinkling half a row with color, the walking around with the same color and sprinkling the other half.
Geez, whenever I sprinkle color on rows of mousetraps, I keep all the bags on one side and do one color after another on all the entire halves, then take them all around and do the other side. Only one trip. Time is money, boys, time is money.
I scrolled down to glance at comments while Gavin was talking, and as i read this i hear "*snap* 'ARGHHH'" 10/10
Agreed, I paused during that part to look at the powder. The saturation and texture of the powder is just really pleasing to the eye
Hilarious monologue seeing this up, with the occasional SNAP treat!
Watching on Christmas day! This was intensely satisfying to watch all the way through. I got so nervous as you pushed everything closer and added those final two columns. Edge of my seat! Brilliant video!
Why is he so funny, man's by himself just making idle chatter and i'm chuckling repeatedly
@@Americafirst2737 dan lives in GB and Gav in USA. During Covid they can't meet and since the equipment is at Gavin's, he's doing it solo atm
If Dan was there, you'd have him roll on top of them.
Poor taste to do a gag like that twice.
These two guys are much more clever than that.
Here,s an idea for a slow motion video: when you throw (fast enough) a snowball at an angle on a target , the impact is always a perfect circle. The ball does not explode because it hits the wall , but because of the water getting hot and steaming. Recording that would be awesome, I haven't found a video that shows this reaction in action, anyways your style you fit the glove! Thanks for all the eye candy you roll , Antoine
Thank you for putting in all of the time on this video. I think that extra appreciation made my smile through all of the action that much bigger.
Your video production & editing skills are amazing, and I’m going to start watching your other channel just to have a peek behind the curtain.
It feels wrong to hear "I'm Gav" not immediately followed by "and I'm Dan."
So I paused it on one of the shots and counted 904 before he moved the rows closer. I later paused again to count the two rows he added for a total of 963.
@@ChinaAlphaBravo yeah, some wear completely tattered and torn lab coats
One of the most pleasing vids you've done in a while. Well worth the long set-up.
Wear that stupid grin with pride Sir! You earned it!
the music was a great addition to the slow mo sequence
And the award for “Most stress-inducing breaks in a time-lapse” goes to...
Seriously, I was so expecting something to go catastrophically wrong every time the time lapse paused.
Every time he started talking I was like "oh thank goodness, he just has something to say"
This was so chaotically BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for this Gav! Thank you!
Way more colorful than the old Nuclear Chain Reaction demo with mouse traps and ping pong balls. Which I first saw back in the 50s. Thank you for this colorful interlude, well worth your time. And yes, I did watch you setting and placing them, no skipping ahead for me. Cheers!
Gavin just yelling “YES!” with his hands in the air fills me with serotonin.
I like to imagine Gav just isolating inside a warehouse making content alone.
Wearing clown shoes and dressing like Jesus.
@@Lilith-Rose For this particular video, probably best to keep the cats away haha.
This is one the most beautiful things I've ever seen 🥲 Thanks Gav. Love you guys!
One of the few slow-mos where the realtime looks equally as pretty.
Also, great music choice for this one. If it was the classic slow-mo theme, I don't think it would've emphasized the colours as well as it did.

“This would be a very inconvenient moment for an earthquake... but it is 2020”

it was at that moment that dan completed his tunnel and popped up right in the middle of all the mousetraps
3:11 After waiting another 30 seconds to get a better view of the wide, the mousetrap setup is indeed 30 by 30. Exactly 900! Good call!
actually no, from the angle at 4:37 (the time I meant to type in) the front most block is 29x7 the second is 30x7 and the 3rd and forth blocks are 31x11 and 31x5.
Making the total 909
Dan’s thanking his lucky stars that he wasn’t there for this one, being pressured by Gav to trigger the traps with his body.
Beautiful in its simplicity. Thanks for this, it’s really amazing. 10 hrs. Worth it.
What an ambition! To build something for 10 hours, and to last , less than 10 seconds! Well done mate !!!!👏👏👏👏👏
haven't seen Slow mo guys in months and HOLY MOLY Gavin's grown a full beard o.o
I stayed with you during the setup! and that video was so worth the time and the pain, it looked fantastic. and your happy face afterwards!! and the scared rabbit jump when you were sweeping and the odd one hadn't gone off.
awesome video
I want behind the scenes on how you did the panning shot.
Why is this comment so far down? Came here for it! Must have had a second field o' traps.
@@Dhoing Description says "Shot with the Bolt Cinebot
" which seems to be a motion controlled rig, but since its not shown in the wide shots it's either two takes or its using a tele lens from afar.
@@zwete It looks like the camera is super close to the traps. Plus you can't see a shadow or anything there at the end when it plays in real time. My take: second take!
Given the focus pull at the same time... I guess its a telephoto, either automated optics and video edit (scene crop) OR a tracked camera that was way off scene.

Thanks for putting in so much time and effort for this. That sweeping shot was amazing!
Thank you for taking the time ..hours and hours to catch a few seconds of awesome stuff !!! Cool !! We all felt the snap on the finger lol
i really like the scrunchie gav is rocking when he's setting up the traps, it's almost hypnotic the way the little pineapple bounces around as he talks and gestures

Best Idea Ever!!!
are you ready???
slow mo guys and spiders. the way the hunt prey and sling webs etc. i would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to see it!!!!
The world is a better place for having guys who do these crazy things.
Neat trick: To avoid the trap going off and maybe snapping your fingers, use a metal fork to set it. Pull the springed part back, put tines of fork over it and hold firmly while you set the arm. Once arm is set, slowly ease up on fork. If the arm slips off the catch, the fork is still holding the springed part back so it doesn't snap. Easy, simple solution to keep your fingers safe.
Altho it is a bit late, still useful info for if they do another video involving mouse traps.
Gav when he dropped the mouse traps:
"I am speed"
That is a Guinness world record right there.. And that was your chef d'oeuvre. Really really really beautiful and creative. I love it..
Wow, this was one of my favorites ever. Such a long, beautiful slow-mo shot.
Gav's beard is so thick, I didn't even realize his jaw was moving when he was talking.
I thought he had a vest on under the t-shirt but no 😲 I'm sure Gavin was never quite this hairy before.

Thank you Slow Mo Guys! 😀❤ Just spent the last hour watching your awesome videos on my phone with my very frail elderly father who is in a nursing home with severe dementia.
