@@paintbalzmaster Thanks, I’ll have to keep an eye out for that. I made a liquor run yesterday and found a bottle of Pairidaēza Crème de Banane liqueur. I haven’t tried it yet, but it sure smells… bananas! Ha ha!
@@andrewperry5593 Thanks! Like I told @paintbalzmaster I made a liquor run yesterday and found a bottle of Pairidaēza Crème de Banane liqueur. We’ll see how it does. I’ll keep an eye out for the Tempus Fugit and the Giffards.
Hey Derek. If you like Jungle Bird riffs that involve whiskey, I made this one up the other day! Jungle Puffin • 2 oz blended scotch • 1/2 oz campari • 1.5 oz pineapple juice • 1/2 oz lemon juice • 1/8 oz rich honey syrup • 1/4 oz all spice dram • 2 dashes angostura bitters • Peated scotch float I made this because I found an awesome Boulevardier riff with campari, all spice dram, and scotch. Decided I wanted to turn it into a tiki style drink, and since honey and pineapple are tasting notes I commonly get in scotch, it seemed like a great fit! Don't skip the peated scotch float. I love how the drink gets smokier as you drink. I usually just spray a bit of Laphroaig on top with a Misto. I would love to see how you might tweak this drink. Is your discord for patreons only btw?
Sometimes i wonder where is borderline between booze with juice or juice with booze. Not to say in bad intention but just crossed my mind since bartending 5 years for hobby and lifestyle. Still a good cocktail. 😂😂
looks good, i like when whiskey is thrown into a tiki cocktail. I do hate bananas though, so I if I try this I'm going to substitute with either an apricot, peach, mango, or passion fruit liquor instead. The question is which one will substitute best.
OMG ! Yesterday evening (I'm from Europe) like 3 hours before you released your video, I made a Lorikeet for the first time and it was a super nice drink ! What a coincidence :D
Bulleit is probably the best value bet here in Australia - 45% ABV, very high rye content and doesn't break the bank. You'll find Rittenhouse on some online stores, but usually around the $100 mark, as opposed to $70 for Bulleit
Haven't made it to the Lorikeet in Shannon's book yet, but it sounds damn tasty👍 There are few things I enjoy more than taking a great classic cocktail and subbing out ingredients to make something totally new (and hopefully delicious) to try.
I have the book but missed this one of some reason. I need to try it but think it’ll benefit from a split base of rye/bourbon or rye/rum, at least in my opinion. Rye easily overpowers anything it goes into. :)
I can't wait to try this. Ever since trying the Rye Tai from Bartenders Manifesto I've been wanting to discover more rye tiki drinks. And I'm digging these jungle bird riffs. The Junglefowl is a banger
The lorikeet in theory looks very promising on paper, I love every ingredient, but I was really disappointed about it. The Lorikeet for me does not work
Tell ‘em, Derek. “Go make a f***ing Jungle Bird!” Ha ha ha! That looks good. I guess I’ve gotta find a banana liqueur now. Ha ha.
😂
Try the Tempus Fugit Crème de Banane. Out of this world. Also amazing in the Banana Afterlife.
Giffards banana liquor is a game changer. Must get.

“Go make a f***ing jungle bird” 😂😂😂. I concur sir. The Lorikeet is amazing however. Keep the great videos flowing. They are great.
Literally the best comment on this channel to date. You tell em Derek!! 🎉🎉😂

Omg, just tried the jungle puffin!! I'm in love!! Thanks!
I went 1/4 rich honey! Rounded it all up for me
I love this cocktail, It really highlights the Rittenhouse Ryes flavour notes
Hmm looks interesting

Writing this one down!
Saw the recipe. Immediately made it. Tasted it. Immediately added to my repertoire

If Rittenhouse overpowers the rest, would you recommend a lighter rye?
Yeah it's up to your preference really
I just made this cocktail a couple of weeks ago from Shannon's book and loved it! I prefer it over the Jungle Bird!
It's so good!
Unable to find Rittenhouse here in Australia. Would Bulliet Rye or Wild Turkey Rye be a good substitute?
Bullet Rye, Templetons, Rittenhouse is nice and cheap here along with Old Overholt as old fashioned previously forgotten almost as old as 1865
Bulleit is probably the best value bet here in Australia - 45% ABV, very high rye content and doesn't break the bank. You'll find Rittenhouse on some online stores, but usually around the $100 mark, as opposed to $70 for Bulleit
Any Rye will do IMO, we often use Rittenhouse is the states because its good and under $25
I just wanted to say I absolutely love your channel I enjoy watching your videos...keep up the good work 😊
Thank you so much!

I could see that. Once you go down the rum rabbit hole a full on whiskey drink is an odd experience at time.
Finally got around to this
Great jungle
Bird riff
I bet this would be amazing with Seagrass Rye from Barrell.
I love the quality of the videos man! Very nice!
Appreciate it!

". . . go and make a f*cking Jungle Bird." EXACTLY!
As someone who loves Tiki drinks, and really does not love Campari, this sounds fantastic. Looking forward to trying it!
If Im being greedy I’d request a whole episode on jungle bird riffs!! They are the bomb. Can’t wait to try this one.
Hilarious, I too will have to go and make this wonderful drink. Keep up the great content!
Nice sub of the Campari for 10 total dashes of bitters. Will have to try.
Love, love, love your preface to this one 😂
It’s a great cocktail and you are so right!!
Thank you!
Amaizing i need more Tropical and Tiki Coocktails.!
Perfect intro haha, thanks for the vid!
Just to make sure about amount of bitters. When using smaller Japanese style dasher bottle you need to double the amount of dashes (8+12) right?
That's what people say but it really comes down to your bottle, it's restrictor, and how much volume comes out with each dash.
Me who’s never had a Jungle Bird: “Thats not a Jungle Bird”
😂
Love the sass
I for one am also open to new things! Hooray to us. Love the video as usual.
Thank you!
I am NOT making anything with banana in it! I'd rather drink battery acid than anything with even the barest hint of banana. Just sayin'😂
A restaurant I went to made tableside Bananas Foster. I asked them to make it without bananas and banana liqueur.
I'd probably prefer this over the Junglebird; can't stand Campari
100% agree. One of only two bottles I've ever poured down the drain. Completely unsalvageable swill.
