I was about to do this method to try and find my first shiny in these new games, found a "?" Outbreak, went to go look at what it was, saw shuppets, saw a shiny one but since there's no more shiny noise I thought "is it shiny...or...is it weird lighting?" Battled it and it was actually shiny!
Congrats!! The ? means it is a Pokemon you haven't got yet.
I found a full odds shiny Shuppet and thought the same thing about the lighting lmao
Ah cool!! Ive been looking for a shiny shuppet for ages😭
I just found a shiny magikarp in an outbreak without knocking any others out. I looked this video up cause I assumed the odds in an outbreak were immediately higher, but apparently not, so that's kinda cool. I've never been much of a shiny hunter because I have next to no patience, but this method seems fairly easy so maybe I'll give it a try with a pokemon I actually want lol.
That's awesome, congrats!
You know it's crazy mate I just got a shiny magic carp about 3 months ago when I beat Violet, first shiny I've ever personally caught in any Pokémon game So what up, We are team shiny Magikarp and we are too deep hoo-ha.
Started knocking out a chansey outbreak as I was watching this video and got a shiny! Thanks!
Congrats!!
I hope you found this guide helpful! What was your first shiny in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?
UPDATE: You do NOT need to reset the game when changing the date to choose mons, just change and go back in. Also, use the Picnic method to catch even faster shinies! Full guide to Picnic resets here: ua-cam.com/video/TSmpOqxACCA/v-deo.html
None, it’s been a day since release
@@Sentient-potato Hopefully soon :)
Found a shiny Skiddo about an hour and a half into launch while exploring
Found a shiny fletchling while moving towards the lighthouse or watch tower thingy
Found a shiny lechonk in the grass just before the first big town. Very lucky
You don't have to change the time to just before midnight. I usually just flip the clock back 1 minute, and everything resets.
Ok i'm either the most unluckiest person in the world or i am doing something wrong i have 3 outbreaks with max shiny chance (60+ kills) and i have the shiny charm after 2+ hours i still haven't seen one single shiny let alone caught one 😅 and yes i'm using picnic reset!
Shiny hunting requires a lot of patience, sometimes you just go way over odds 😭 trust me, I know all about it!
I had a forretress outbreak pop up on my switch today, and I go two shiny forretress without even making a steel type sandwich! 😁👍🏻
This was so useful! Thank you so much, got a shiny Driflim right after watching this video :D
I am glad it was helpful! Congrats on the shiny!
You don't have to leave the game to reroll your mass outbreaks. You can just hit the home butting while your in game, reroll by changing the day, then go back into game to check what you got
Couple questions:
Does killing or running away from a pokemon that's not the one you're after break your chain, and can a chain technically be done even without an outbreak by just attacking the same pokemon over and over in the world? By that extension, does leaving an entering a new loading zone to refresh things screw over shiny rates?
Yeah I also wanna know about that (commenting for the replies)
Killing other Pokemon in the area does not break your chain. The chain of knocking out Pokemon is only within an outbreak and not on random mons. I hope this is helpful :)
@@Metalfear4 alr thanks
@@Metalfear4 Very! Thank you
@Metalfear4 does this include swarms that are very close together? Like if both gastly and drowzee are spawning/swarming in the same area, you can just let your pokemon loose willy nilly and both pokemon will be chaining? (Very new to this!)
Just got a shiny drifblim using this method! Thanks
Congrats!! I am glad the video helped!
I think there's a static Lechonk at the beginning of the game, the one I got was male and he's on my team right now, but I back tracked to the starter area to catch a Shroodle and found ANOTHER Lechonk, this one was female
I was using your method to shiny hunt in a houndstone outbreak didn't got a shiny houndstone unfortunately but surprisingly after the outbreak ended I got a shiny midnight form lycanrock
Congrats!!
I genuinely find more shinies walking around the map than doing these. I haven't got a mass shiny yet. :(
Hopefully soon mate!
does the chain reset once you've caught the shiny? Took like 10 picnic to get shiny swablu, but can't get a second shiny to spawn
No it does not reset, keep in mind that sometimes shinies can take awhile to appear!
I found a random shiny Rookidee while trying to find an outbreak. It's my second random shiny after I found a Spoink yesterday. 😅
Congrats!!
found an amazing spot to farm noibats. With shiny charm and lvl 3 shiny boost I got a shiny in 8 minutes. Insane. Havent gotten a single shiny from masuda after prolly 30 hours. I did, however, get a random base odds shiny croagunk early in my playthrough which was cool.
Nice, congrats!!
Thanks for the video man, another great video, making my surgery recovery much easier :)
Thank you dude! I hope you feel better soon!
I got a shiny Lechonk the minute I could start catching pokemon.
Awesome luck! Congrats mate!
you can keep using picnics to reset the encounters, so the outbreak will never end
has this been confirmed? does also running out of render distance work as well? I wanna do this but not sure if been confirmed to work
@@majesticunicorn5399 ive tested this 4 times on 4 different outbreaks and it does work
Can you explain this
@@jamitiong2978 so first I defeat 60 pokemon in an outbreak (manually count each one), then I check all the remaining ones that are spawned. No shiny, then I press X and use picnic, then exit the picnic and a new batch of pokemon spawn. Repeat until shiny
I wonder if doing this resets the knockouts
I got my shiny hoppip by chance which made me really happy but I will be using this advice for catching a shiny happiny! 💞 thanks
Thanks for watching! Congrats on the hoppip!
Same!
Same! It was my first shiny in SV!
if i defeat them all and there wasnt a shiny can i close the game and open it again to reset the outbreak or are the spawns locked after saving so they will always be the same?
Not 100% on this yet, still waiting for further testing.
My first shiny without any methods was a Meditite.
I found a shiny Flittle just yesterday at the very beginning of an outbreak. I didn't know how lucky I was until now lol.
Awesome, congrats! I wish I got my shiny Flittle for this video haha!
how did u find a flittle outbreak 😭😭😭
@@solunadancing I got lucky I guess haha!
SAME lol
Found a shiny at canine with this method named him corn dog and he is the best boi
Could you use the picnic to reset the encounters
Yes, I have a picnic reset guide video too
I was just grinding and I saw a few magikarp not a outbreak but one was golden first playthrow shiny
outbreaks change, but still some never appear for me, for example I've done more than 1000 resets and tinkatink still hasn't appeared.
Thank you for explaining how to do this. Very helpful!
Thank you! I am glad it was helpful :D
Man..I haven't seen your channel since you were pulling like 10 comments now you're getting 50k views and over 200
Making moves over here!
Do chains of an outbreak break as soon as you put the switch off? Because ik hunting stantler and i get nothing for days....
Not when the switch is off but it does reset when the date reaches to midnight
You actually don't have to save a quit out when you flip the date. You can just hit the home button, change it and go back into the game. It saves a little time
Yeah I updated the pinned comment awhile ago with this info 😅
You actually don't have to close the game or wait until 12 you can just set to one day forward while the game is open
Congrats on all the shinies!
but what do u do when the mass outbreaks is done? u reset the game? why nobody explain that for the beginners :(
If you want you can move to a different outbreak but if you really want the shiny in that outbreak, I suggest the Picnic method! I have a guide video on that too.
If I catch a shiny while I have my chain going does it reset once I've caught it or does the chain continue? Thank you
The chain continues! You can get multiple shinies in the same outbreak :)
Nobody is talking about what actual pokemon spawn from Outbreaks. I been trying to make a list for myself. Great video
Thank You for the Vid Metal btw it's Let's Game I did get a shiny HootHoot
Congrats dude!
if i kill an entire out break and go to another without killing anymore will the shiny chance still be raised
No, it is only within that outbreak.
Im pretty sure outbreaks reset every 12 hours and not every 24 hours because when i do 23.59 i get a new result and then a minute after it changes again, so for optimal chances you should switch it to 11.59, and then the reset after 23.59. Unless you want to see the outbreak you Wanted vanish before your eyes ofc
Edit for more: found out you literally don’t even need to close the game just change the date on your switch and go into the game (sometimes this doesn’t work for unknown reasons) but it is definitely way faster than closing the game each time
I can confirm you don't need to change the clock to 23:59. They change every 12 hours, so you can just flip the AM to PM and so on in your system clock and the outbreaks will change all the same :)
What are the ? Outbreaks? Are those just outbreaks for pokemon you haven't seen yet?
Correct, you don't have that Pokemon yet
Its sad that getting herba mystica is super rare
For checking how many you've knocked out, I recommend selling all of the dropped crafting items you have for that Pokemon so that it starts at 0. Then you know, if the pokemon are dropping 1 item per KO, and you have 58 of the item in your bag, you've KO'd 58.
Sometimes they drop 2 of the item though, it's happened to me many times
Just do tally marks on a piece of paper
What happens if I knockout a different Pokémon, do the odds reset?
Nope, doesn't matter!
Can you save after the 60 encounters ? And restart?
Currently trying this as the shiny ran away from me and despawned before i could save. Ill let you know
Is it safe to do this method with changing your date? Can it be bannable
Not bannable at all :) It was super common in Pokemon Sword/Shield.
Thank you I got a shiny flareon from a outbreak
Congrats!
There’s really no cue to when you’ve knocked out 60?? On the top right it screen after you’ve knocked a certain amount it tells you different things like the Pokémon are decreasing. I’m wondering if that has anything to do with these numbers thanks
That does give you an indicator! I just miss these notifications all the time 🤣🤣
@@Metalfear4 right on bro thanks. As of now I’ve been stopping when it says something like “there’s not many more left”. Never have counted but also still waiting on first shiny. Cheers
I wasn’t looking for any type of spoilers or anything when playing the game.
I found a rolycoly and it was my first time seeing it in this game. My first thought was NICE a new region variant. It’s blue must be water or steel… nope it was a Shiny!
Haha congrats!
I was doing an outbreak and I saved the game before encountering the shiny, I killed it by mistake and restarted the game and I caught it the second time around.
My question is... Did the "combo" break when I restart the game? or does it maintain till the outbreak ends?
It stays until the next day when the outbreak moves on.
@@Metalfear4 Thank you so much for the reply
Keep up the great work :)
If I want to restore the day and time while for example I am two days ahead the outbreaks remain the same until the day is normally changed, without any in game issues, right?
Changing the date will not cause any issues, no :)
@@Metalfear4 Thank you very much for reply!!!
will catching the pokemon you are chaining break the chain?
There is no chain so no worries!
What does it mean when it says “outbreak is lowering in number” and you haven’t reached killing 60 mons yet??
It is still going but running out soon
If you save after killing the 60 and reload the game will it have saved the 60 kills?
Yes!
@@Metalfear4 thank God, gonna make my all shiny Minior hunt easier, thank you
once i kill 30, y does my outbreak start to go away?
That notification is an indication of how many you have killed but they keep spawning until its over.
when I reset the outbreaks I just get an outbreak for like 1 out of 10 different pokemon. As in, I always get the same outbreaks, like from a pool, just in different locations
Does the count reset after you capture/encounter a pokemon.
Nope! It continues
While I was using the outbreak, today I found a shiny Rufflet.
That is my current hunt! I want to add the clip of me getting it into my next video, congrats!
@@Metalfear4 Thank you so much. I wish you good luck on your shiny hunt too.
@@davontewagner18 Thank you for the luck! I just got my shiny Rufflet actually!! Posting the new video now haha!
@@Metalfear4 wow! really? I got a shiny Magikarp without a mass outbreak, just a random encounter.
If it knocks out a different mon will it ruin the chance
No it doesn't, it's all good!
does it break the streak if you kill another pokemon thats not from the outbreak in the 60 streak?
No it doesn't 😀
@@Metalfear4 can i also save with a streak and reset the game and still have my increased shiny Chance?
If I close the game but saved after beating 60 and restart my game do I gotta do 60 again?
Not if you come back on the same day and the outbreak hasn't reset, then it is all good
@@Metalfear4 thanks a ton! Appreciate it
Does the 60 KO's carry over for each mon doing so once for each? Or do you need to knockout 60 every outbreak at all times for the increased odds everytime?
Also can you knock out 60 mons in general for every mon and get those odds for non outbreak group mons? Or is the 60 knockouts only for outbreak hunting?
The chaining is just for that mon and just in that outbreak. A new outbreak means start from 0 again, even if it is a mon you have already done. It only counts for outbreaks. I hope that helps!
So if the outbreak runs out and u didn’t get a shiny, u just try again on another outbreak?
Yes! Or you can use the picnic method which will make the outbreak last much longer and you can keep going for the shiny. I have a video on the picnic method :)
@@Metalfear4 ok thank you
does anyone know if i can switch back to my normal date and time after i jumped a couple days for shinies ? just wondering if it will lock my game
Yes you can! I do it all the time.
@@Metalfear4 thank you so much for the confirmation ! your guide helped me so much with shiny hunting so far
@@feelenes Awesome! I am glad it was helpful :)
If you save before you start knocking out the Pokémon you want in an outbreak can you restart the game and get a different 60 spawns or will they be the same?
Same spawns, if you want new ones then you need to use the time changing method
Do we need to chain the 60 or is it just 60 KOs to activate the shiny chance?
Just 60 KOs, no chain :)
@@Metalfear4 Thanks. I've actually gotten 3 shinies with this method since asking. It's incredibly quick.
I've tried this method a few times and absolutely get NOTHING at all😤 apparently I've already battled a shiny somewhere haha but did manage to get one from trying an encounter sandwich 🙃🤣
Eventually the shinies will come! Don't give up!
Question. if you dont know it's ok but... after you catch 1 shiny from that outbreak. does the 60 combo reset or you can keep going for multiple shinies?
You can keep going for multiple shinies :)
Would it be better to use a shiny sandwich without encounter?
Encounter boosts the type of Pokemon spawning so you see more of your target Pokemon, so it helps to see more and get the shiny faster
@@Metalfear4 yeah but most of those others aren’t from the outbreak which means they aren’t boosted by the 60 so huge power would probs be better
Got my first shiny yesterday, it was a wiglett and I named it Shwiggly lol
Congrats!!
Question, during an outbreak does the message that appears saying the numbers are diminishing an idicator of you reaching the 60 pokemon defeated buff?
Yeah to my understanding the first one indicates you’ve taken out 30 and the second that says the numbers are definitely getting lower means you’ve hit to 60
My first shiny in scarlet was charcadet I almost despawned it but saw the lil blue flame out the corner of my eye had no sandwich nor charm full odds and then it was cufant then roaring moon
Can you only knock out the same pokemon? If you knock out a different pokemon will that break your chain?
I wish someone knew this answer
Wondering the same thing
It is not a chain so you can knockout others in between.
In the game I'm at Uva academy (i started playing few weeks ago) and I've been thinking about shiny hunting a Zorua (which will be probably hard) and this guide will probably help me but i don't know if there will be indicator on the map when there's a outbreak of them or not
There will be a zorua indicator but when you get to the location, they will be disguised so you have to let's go feature all the mons and if your pokemon won't attack a seemingly normal mon, that will be the shiny zorua. It'll be hard but a cool hunt, good luck!
@@Metalfear4 Alright and Thank you
If you turn off your game does it reset your knockouts
Only if the next time you turn it on again, it is the next day. Same day is fine.
@@Metalfear4 bet thanks bro
That voice is Shadiversity 2.0
Never heard that comparison before 🤣
if you get the message “there are not many pokemon left from the original outbreak” your probably close to 60 defeated
Sick video man - do the 60+ kills help the shiny rate in general play? Or only in outbreaks?
Just in outbreaks :))
Thanks Butcher! Just in the outbreaks
You dont need to close the game or change the time when you get to Date and Time just click A until you get to OK them press OK and it will change but it might not work the first time you do it .
If I want to go for a specific target while keeping it full odds do you know how to reset the spawns? I want to make sure I’m not running around looking at the same mons.
If you run out of the area and then back in, there will be new mons. Alternatively, you can set up a picnic to reset the mons. This will be my next video :)
Shiny oinkologne, here I come!
Good luck mate!
ah do i save after i do the 60+?
Yes!
When do u unlock outbreaks?
Pretty early in the game. Look on the mini map for the Pokemon with the little red mark around them. Make sure your map isn't fully zoomed in either
this has probably been answered but does anyone know how to get outbreaks to even spawn?? like i see pokemon icons and then when i go up to them there's nothing and idk what to do
for anyone who had this same issue i figured it out
they spawn by the day and when you get far enough into the game (unsure of what that means) they start spawning. you can reroll for this by changing the time to 11:59 pm and waiting a minute to see if any spawn. if not, then just keep progressing and eventually they will
Does knocking out other Pokémon while in Lets go mode break the chain for the one your hunting?
Nope, it does not, it is not a chain :)
how long does the "60 killed bonus" last. Example : I killed 60 rufflets, then go to the pokecenter an fly to another reason. after x hours i come back to the rufflets, do i still have 60 killed or does the outbreak "reset"
Thanks
The amount killed stays the same until the next day and the outbreak despawns, even if you leave the area
I found my shiny orthworm without having to change the time and just knocked out random orthworms for my shiny to appear
i don't know why i only get magikarp and vavroom shiny outbreaks always
Does accidentally running into a mon during the knockouts affect anything?
Nope
I’ve been doing this for 5+ hours still no shiny. I kill the 60 and then start picnics to reset the spawns. I only get 3-5 spawns. Something has to be bugged or am I doing something wrong. It’s very frustrating seeing my friends get 12-15 spawns after their 60
Also try to eat food that increases a type spawn rate. For EX
if i wanna hunt an ice type pokemon
id get ice pokemon outbreak then go eat a sandwich with Encounter type Up ICE
I just thought if a pretty fun sounding challenge for those tournaments some poketubers make, make a competitive team out of the outbreaks in your game
Do you have to crest a chain and keep killing the Pokémon? Does my shiny chance go back to 1/4000 if I kill something else that’s not the outbreak Pokémon? Thanks!
Nope it does not reset! Killing other Pokemon during the outbreak is fine
If I restart the game does the 60 kill streak chance effect wear off?
Not until the next day when the outbreak expires. If you restart your game within the same day, it stays
I got a random shiny oinklogene
Congrats!
Thanks (without mass outbreaks)Love from India
So using the lets go auto battle feature will it knock out the shiny or leave it be?
Your Pokemon refuses to attack the shiny in the let's go mode 😁
I found three full odds shinies while hunting for riolu this way yesterday, and found a shiny lotad from an outbreak while watching this video just now. This method is broken haha.
Congrats!!
there is a way of knowing how many u knocked out when u knock out a pokemon u get the pokemons down like for example if u fight a psyduck and knock it out u get the psyducks down look in your TM material bag and see how many of the pokemons down u have and thats how many u knocked out
That would only work if you start with 0 because the 60 knockouts has to be part of the outbreak.
This is going to sound insane but I wanted a shiny gyarados so I went to the location right I knocked out three while watching this video and there was a shiny!!!!!! Have I used my luck for the rest of my life!?!!?!!??!
Congrats!! The video brought some luck 🤣
Old try this but need I need the fire type starter and then I complete the Pokédex thanks for the guide
I have a question, im trying to get a shiny Wooper, I already did 60+ KOs, but as I was hunting I found a shiny Psyduck and caught it, does this break the 60+ KOs chain, or I still have the bonus?
You still have the bonus, it does not break the chain!
Would it be wise to save during an outbreak at the 60 count mark and then make the sandwich to increase odds?
Yes!
