Unboxing 2019 BMW K1600 GT Sport

- Hello to all,
Firstly, many thanks to the TEAM MOTO EURO Springwood BMW dealership for allowing me to view the unboxing of my new 2019 K1600GT Sport.
On the 20th December 2018, I was invited to watch the unboxing of my new 2019 BMW K1600 GT Sport (yes its my Christmas present for being a good boy...!!!) which had only arrived into Australia a number of days before, landing into Melbourne Australia and then road freighted into Brisbane, Queensland on the 19th December 2018.
The following vlog is the day in which the bike was removed from the production packaging and my first view of this incredible bike which will culminate in the adventure to the wonderful roads of Tasmania in January 2019...

Test rode this yesterday www.bikesales.com.au/bikes/details/2019-bmw-k-1600-gt/OAG-AD-18758116/?Cr=10. Great bike however would like to compare it to the GTL as I believe it has a different riding position more akin to cruising rather than sports riding. Is there a view about the differences or similarities of the GT and GTL. Also is the L bigger or just look bigger because of the Top Box arrangement ?
Hey you were out at Rolf Motorrad 👍, saw that bike come in about 8 - 12 months ago and knew it wouldn’t move at the price they were asking, now down to $33.5k, far better to what I paid for the exact bike 15 months ago & $42k but it was the first in Australia. Now your question in relation to the GT & GTL, yes the GT is a sport riding position, extremely comfortable even in long distances but the GTL is one step above that, basically it’s an armchair on wheels and designed in its pure form called the “Grand Tourer”, specially designed for European & American highways but she’s a very, very big girl, extra large fairing, armchair seating for rider and pillion and heavier than the GT Sport you rode recently. And this is the main reason I went with the GT, although I did have the 2015 model (best one produced bar none) and I also had the K13 & K12 in previous years, so I’ve always leaned towards a sports tourer. Question is - how did you find the GT Sport.....?

Getting a new bike even if it's second hand is an amazing feeling but a brand spanker in a box I'm jealous as mate !

I have the 2015 sakir orange. It would take alot to trade in for an identical bike.

Any reason why you are replacing your 2016?
Did you ever consider the 2019 1250 RT ?
If you did the comparison what did you choose the K1600.
I’m considering either so if you can enlighten me on your thoughts
Actually it was the 2015 model I previously owned and to be honest, I fell in love with the new colours for 2019 and the trade price was just to good to refused (I did push a very hard bargain 😱). The reason I didn’t look at the R1200 or 1250 RT as I have a 2018 GS Adventure in the garage and I don’t like the “bulbous” fairing of the RT, preferring the GT’s sports fairing and much bigger engine. Hope this helps and safe riding 😁👍

Where is the wind screen during shipping? I am sure it cannot fit in the side case... I assume it's in a smaller box inside the crate that we did not see in the video?

Gren Phelps eventually with an aftermarket product, my GSA has the Akrapovoc exhaust so might head in that direction 👍
