- It's been a while! Checking some of the usual thrift stores in my area and seeing what kinds of retro tech and random old oddities I can find. Plus traveling six hours to Richmond, Virginia to find even more because why not. Let's go thrifting, ooh yeah!

I feel like you really hit peak LGR Thrifts in this one when you find a signed copy of an obscure adult game and then say "but of course I already have a copy". Great stuff as always!
Ha!
that's also signed!
Danger Danger's song "Naughty Naughty" started playing in my head there.
@@LGRhey I put you tubers on vhs with real playback can I use your videos to I always give credit and link back to the video
I'd guess that quite a bit were probably signed. If it's obscure she probably signed a good portion of them? I could see a Playboy playmate doing that... The personal touch makes it more desirable.
It's finally happened: Clint has absorbed all the good junk into his house from 100 miles around and now needs to travel to find anything more
I kinda feel like a huge reason for the lack of cool stuff in recent years is Goodwill's kinda scummy shift to putting all the stuff they think they could get more money for on their website instead of selling it in the store it was donated at
Yep
Also cool stuff is becoming less common as years go by, similar to old cars on the roads. A few years back the ford taurus was everywhere, these days they are a rare sight to see.
this and resellers.
Looks like Goodwill has turned into a UK-style charity shop - 90% clothes, 5% books, 5% random. Welcome to our world.
Too right
When I was looking for a cheap keyboard a couple years back, I thought charity shops might have had one
I went through a good 3-4 and basically everything was just clothes and not much else
resellers are decemating thrift stores currently.it's so hard to find anything fun or interesting; clothes, electronics, etc have been hollowed out but these people who buy for $5 then resell for a 300% markup. it does seem like its starting to die down. so maybe we can get back to finding weird and interesting things soon.
Boomers need to let go and restock these videos.
@@rivalmindssThat and Goodwill in particular is diverting everything interesting online themselves...
@@rivalmindss Not sure about reselling. I recently got banned on 10 accounts for fraud which I didn't do ... all positive rating for 15 years and I lost contact to at least 20 buyers in that one day thanks to this.
Some idi-t reports me and seems like there is not much disputes. Another bad thing is you get reported to other places too and if they trace you it's like a domino effect.
It's the same thing like that I have going on, on a related note. I applied to lots of places for a job but I have a flag on me that I am being "pursued" so they rejected me, even tho the reality is that I inherited my father's debts which are a ton of money but it's being slowly paid out. Doesn't matter I have a flag on me and I am a cri-inal now thanks to all this ...
I honestly am thinking of running away and live in a jungle and meet my end there ... F--k so called civilization, there is nothing civil about it.
14:30 “UA-cam apology equipment” really caught me off guard. 😂
I nearly spit out my coffee on that one from laughter.
I had to wipe my screen off after that 😅 so much for the last sip of coffee I just had....
Clint’s dry humor is so under appreciated
100% agree
Loved it and the subtle delivery :)
thanks for shining a spotlight on my film CURSE OF THE WOLF. appreciate you dude
Wait, is this Len??
Your movies have been a go-to ever since a friend introduced me to Curse of the Wolf on one memorable movie night, haha. That theme song still gets stuck in my head at random 🤘
I love that Len Kabasinski is a LGR fan. Get on RLM again!
@SpaceIce, please take note
Oh, hey Len~
Director in chat! I still am amazed on how the creators of objects that UA-camrs show end up finding them out of nowhere. I have uploaded the GTA 1 soundtrack on my other channel, and I've gotten DMA design devs and other members of Rockstar commenting on their experience making the songs and working at DMA Design.
Speaking of "been a while"... bring back LGR Foods! Those sandwiches always looked goated
Honestly, LGR, the lack of thrifting finds is very relatable. Regardless of how often you'll post thrift vids, I'll always check them out. Sometimes watching other people's thrifting videos makes me forget that the whole process is about finding a needle in a haystack. This one really put stuff into perspective
"youtube apology equipment" was not a line I expected to hear from LGR lmao
14:33 "youtube apology equipment" lmao
Made me giggle too :))
Lol
Made me shuckle
beat me to it
Clint is so masterful blindsiding us with these jokes in such a chill video.
“It’s a drop of water… in a desert of diapers.”
Just what I needed to hear before my date XD
That moment when you realize the shelves of Adult Diapers are probably from the inventory of an older person who... doesn't need them anymore.
Or a shop ditching unsold stock at cost
Medicare facilities will donate their stuff to goodwill for tax credits.
21:34 The zoom in on the calendar really made laugh!
As soon as I saw it in the background I just knew he was going to do that.
This scene had "p*rn" written all over it. Even though it was (maybe) not.
me too, its waaay to flashy for a "serious" scene 🤣🤣
Ah, Ol' Dirty Golf Balls. My favourite member of Wu-Tang Clan
“PVC with a movie reference” is the best descriptor I have ever heard for Funko. That 2nd and Charles is insane, I don’t have anything that laces its boots up in Philly
"UA-cam apology equipment" had me laughing inappropriately on the bus.
I missed your thrift episodes. So glad they are back
Oh man... I would so spend hours in that big store. There's something special about physically browsing a store.
CURSE OF THE WOLF!!!! The greatness that is Len Kabasinski cannot be denied.
It’s legendary
That conspicuous zoom on the calendar was peak comedy.
"... Well, that's weird."
"UA-cam apology equipment" 😆
I kid you not, when my home page refreshed and I saw this come up I let out an audible “YES!”. I work in IT and the current environment is decidedly not healthy, but it’s videos like yours that keep me passionate about technology rather than apathetic. Thank you for being you, and sharing your love of tech with us! Thrifts videos especially feel like a warm hug. 💜
The Colleen shade had me dead lol. As always it’s a pleasure to see you shop, Clint!
Clint finally mentioned Warhammer. Life is complete
11:23 Rokenbok is a whole system of RC vehicles and machines, largely designed around material handling for little plastic spheres. You can set up a pretty complex "factory" with them, they're really fun to play with. That's the base station where you plug in the controllers. There are supposed to be little cards in slots 1-8 that correspond to the controllers. You would plug the card into the vehicle you wanted to control. 5-8 were either dummy units programmed with basic commands like always on or periodic controls unless you had a second base)
my face lit up when that was on screen man i LOVED my rokenbok stuff the intricate builds you could make were endless and then driving the things around my god i loved it.
glad to see someone mentioned it, i used to have a lot as a kid. sad to see they no longer make that toy line anymore though
These were awesome as a kid, albeit expensive. The snap-together frames, different vehicles... good stuff.
I loved playing with the display unit at my local “toy” store. I say “toy” store because it was more of an edutainment store than an actual toy store, and I imagine that parents who were obsessed with getting their kids into STEM fields were the exact target audience for Rokenbok haha
I saved all mine. Have tons of it.
Those movies look like something RLM would have on Best of the Worst.
"UA-cam apologie equipment" had me on the floor
Clint, you are the greatest thrift find of all. Unfortunately I don't think things are going to get better seeing how Goodwill now has a special site dedicated to making sure they harvest every remotely interesting thing they can before it ever reaches the floors of their retail stores. Anything of value now gets put up on their own custom eBay styled auction site. I think in the long run they are shooting themselves in the foot because they're removing the treasure hunting aspect which drove most of their business.
And they are removing items that could remain in the community that donated them. I hate this practice. People should look for alternatives if they want to donate things to a thrift shop. Here we have Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul and a few independant stores.
@@freecycle53215 I went to a Salvation Army several years ago that the electronics section felt like I walked into Walmart in 1994. It was amazing. Unfortunately, I wasn't in a spot to act. I have dreams about it still.
The Salvation Army throws out most of the interesting stuff that shows up though, unless you like collecting Bibles or Christian music (or maybe some inoffensive country at best).
Dude, ShopGoodwill has been running for over a decade, if you're going to bitch and moan about it, you're late to the party. Also more people know about eBay and trying to get a ton of money for their stuff now than ever, so the stuff is on eBay before it even leaves the owner's house and never makes it to goodwill to begin with.
When I was game collecting in 2003+, Goodwill was my game store. I got games for all kinds of random systems, and entire boxes of consoles and accessories. Got a jungle green and two shades of blue N64's there with controllers and everything for $10 back in 2007 ish - each. Entire Dreamcast system and 8 games for $20. Sega Sports dreamcast for $5.
There is no alternatives. salvation army and st vinnys have both went bankrupt all across the nation and only exist in larger cities. goodwill is the only thrift store in my city. @@freecycle53215
2nd & Charles is a seriously cool mix between pawn shop and thrift store! But once the vultures picked everything off it's just going to end up becoming another stockpile of sports games and classical music
I live a somewhat rural area in the mountains and the nearest goodwills are all full of furniture, clothes and lots of miscellaneous nonsense. It's quite sad how much thrifting has declined in the last few years.
Yep and the second you find something cool or interesting it’s insanely overpriced especially for a thrift.
It's been on a steep decline the last decade. Scalpers and the stores themselves catching-on have really driven it into the ground. It's hard for people with little cash to even get essentials. My local thrifts are pricing vacuums against "vacuum collector" prices on eBay even, it's that bad!
You might as well go buy the jeans at Costco because Value Village will sell them for the same price or more.
I think most stuff is sold online these days, like on Ebay and such.
Whatever lands at a Thrift store has either been thoroughly picked over, or if you're lucky, from someone who didn't know what they had and just needed to dump some stuff.
I truely think that thrifting just won't be a thing for digital stuff in a couple of years.
Way back in the day I remember finding NES consoles and things like that. Now it all goes to the internet and people don't donate cool stuff anymore, and if they do, well again... right to the internet. most people can easily sell things online as well, not like the old days where it was a yard sale or pay to list it in the paper.
Love you Clint. Few things
-your brother looks a lot like you! I saw him briefly and thought it was you.
-love the thrift videos. They made me comfy
-I’m very sad that life has moved on and we don’t see this kind of thing anymore, walls and walls of media.
-thanks for a great video. Makes me happy in a warm, sad, nostalgic place
Those movies give off the vibe of a Michael Scott joint!😂
Trying to find physical PC games is harder than finding the fountain of youth in Michigan. Wish I could go to Virginia like you, that store would've been my dream place.
The last physical PC game I bought (new) was Mad Max and all it had on it was a link to download it.
@@Safetytrousers Come to Australia man as most of out physical games do come with discs rarely do they have the key in the box due to out shitty internet
Same, I occasionally get lucky with random Sims 2 packs which is something I've been looking for but yeah the amount of cool stuff has been dwindling while prices have been rising
yep. out of my 40-ish thrift visits i have found big box pc games at all 2 or 3 times. i saw a sealed DOS mega man for $40 and a big box DOOM II for $100 the first time at an antiques store, was gonna buy the mega man but didn't have money at the time and when i came back the next day it was gone. second time it was heavy metal fakk 2 and total annihilation for $3/each at goodwill, great titles so i snagged them immediately. next time i saw they had a big box at all it was a big box copy of noctropolis and they had it at $30 in a glass case. someone eventually bought that one
I stopped at a random no name thrift store in southern Georgia on the way to Orlando last year and found a mint big box copy of Myst. Totally complete. Even had the original sales receipt from 1995.
15:33 that Funkadelic's Maggot Brain deserves a second look. No rerelease sticker and seems a bit beat up to be the rerelease but also impossibly good to be the original press. Not actually impossible, sealed copies go for crazy prices.
I’ve had a really nice copy for years myself, it’s a must-have
Yup saw that too - disappointed he didn't have a look. Its a classic!
Thrifts was how I started watching your channel. My mom used to be work for many years in a thrifts store so I found it very nostalgic to watch your videos after she died from cancer a couple of years ago now. Then I started to watch your videos on old computers and remembered how my dad loved to tinker with his computer back in the early to late 90’s. I feel like your channel is one of - if not the most - wholesome channels on UA-cam and I really appreciate your dedication, your passion, your dry sense of humor, your kindness and your humbleness. Your videos bring me so much joy and peace to mind, thank you for all of your videos over the years and happy 50th anniversary on Thrifts :)
This is my local 2nd & Charles!
Hello from Richmond! Super cool that you were here recently. It's a great town. Our thrift shop scene is kinda lacking, but if you're ever back in town you should visit Diversity Thrift!
that’s what i was thinking! there’s also a goodwill computer store in southside that i’ve been meaning to go to.
It's totally not lacking just gotta know where to go. Southside was some great stores. The hospice thrift, reclamation thrift, family thrift (found a full gundam kit and warhammer books here). A couple near forest hill.
Circle thrift also always has the weirdest stuff
I've been there. I don't remember how they did for tech, but it is a great store of weirdness and wonder overall.
Diversity thrift is the best one.
This has been going on for a decade??? Oh my goodness I remember watching the very first episode like it was a couple days ago. 😭
I missed these so much, honestly, love seeing them. LGR thrifts is why I subscribed, but the rest of the content is why I stay.
Wow that Little Professor calculator quite suddenly unlocked a childhood memory. I think I had one of those as a kid. Haven't seen one in probably 35 years.
Here’s to 50 more Episodes of Thrifting!
22:49 I... wha... That's an *amazing* find. That model kit is a limited edition lucky draw prize and can pull big money on ebay. That store had nobody who knew gunpla.
16:09 as someone who grew up listening CCM artists like Amy Grant & DC Talk, that moment gives me such nostalgia like mainstream artists does
80s and 90s CCM hit different than mid-2000s and beyond CCM for obvious reason, iykwim
and seeing that amount of CD like in the heyday of record bars is such a joy
glad you go beyond your usual place and see this series getting an update
'Let's go thrifting.' Words I never thought would come out of Clint's mouth again, haha. Happy 50 Episodes mate! Love this series, always worth re-watching!
This has sadly been the Goodwill situation in San diego for the better part of a decade. Want clothes? Yup. Cups? Yup. Lamps? Sure. Speakers? OK. That's why I enjoyed your thrift content so much because your stores always seemed so packed with goodies.
Even Kobey's isn't what it used to be
Goodwill situation in general, they're really lacking on the east coast in the Philly area as well.
13:54 oh wow, a jaguar with its CD attachment and SNES Lawnmower man. xD thats a horrifying combo to see!
14:35 youtube apology equipment... its sad I get this reference.
Did SNES Lawnmower Man ever win the baseball tournament? I can't remember.
I don’t get the reference, what is it?
@@selenamertvykh6481 i assume you mean PJ's baseball tourney? Don't think so.
@@mrb692 it was a reference to a certain apology had a ukulele and was a big joke, i dont even wanna say her name it's bleh but you can definitely look up ukulele youtube apology and probably find it 😅 the video is just called "hi."
As someone who used to work in sorting and stocking a local thrift store, I nodded in solidarity at calling out Janet Evanovich. Never heard her name before working there, but we had entire shelves dedicated to her.
I used to go through the thrift stores near me for finds like these, but it has become rarer and rarer to find any tech gems these days. Books on the other hand seem abundant. Since I read books to my kids almost every night many of those books were acquired from thrift stores.
I’m not allowed to go to second and Charles unsupervised. I always end up coming home with some used video game system. 😂
I wish we had one near me
That store was legit. I would also get in trouble there.
Our local version of that type of store has gotten lame, expensive & they can keep the "we're better than you" attitude.
I live in Maryland, so second and Charles is within walking distance, and I’m not allowed to go there unsupervised. 😂
That hoodie is GLORIOUS
I didn't expect to be yelling "Michael Shanks?!" at my monitor this morning
Both LGR Thrifts and DankPods Cashies Specials scratch a very niche itch for me. Thank you for staying dedicated to the series!
Thrifts! These are my wife and my favorites. Thanks for doing more of them!
I'm certainly okay with modified thrifting, vintage stores are a great place to find blasts from the past!
9:41 the slow turn to reveal the MASSIVE rows of funko pops is absolutely brilliant
My buddy just introduced me to that WWF album maybe 2 weeks ago. Glad you found a copy of such a masterpiece!
UA-cam apology equipment 😂 that got me
Literally started binging all the thrifts yesterday, this is amazing ❤
It’s strange to be nostalgic for thrifting from 10+ years ago, but the pandemic seems to have changed everything.
Even on a bad day, you still find better and more stuff than we ever do.
“A drop of water in a desert of diapers” 😂😂
Been watching you for over a decade. The level of comforting warmth these videos bring me.
That Final Fantasy XIV cookbook is amazing both for silly lore but also really good food. There is a breakfast skillet that my wife makes for Christmas every year that the entire family adores.
14:32: "an assortment of UA-cam apology equipment": LOL
The state of your local Goodwill stores hits home for me. Every store within 50 miles of me has looked like this for about as long as I can remember.
Nice hoodie at the start, comfymaxxing is the way to go!
LGR, I love your voice, it's like being LISTENING TO THE RADIO
That short clip you played from Toe Tags... the painfully slow speed of the camera tilt to show the woman is cracking me up.
Crap, almost a decade already? Welp, means it’s a decade well spent. Cheers to more Thrifts, Clint! 🎉
That zoom in on the calendar killed me.
UA-cam apology instrument 😂😂😂
Also good call on the Herb Alpert lol it really is everywhere
"A bad hi-fi stack."
*Looks over to the early identical hi-fi stack right next to me....
"Hey!"
The Thrifts videos are always some of my favorites. My parents split up my senior year of high school and then my dad lost the house (and all my belongings) my freshman year of college (out of state) so I've lost a lot of stuff I loved. When I saw the Mind Trap game, I immediately remembered it and had to pause your video to go buy one on eBay. One tiny piece of my heart restored.
Hey LGR thanks for releasing a Thrifting video I really needed this one timely as they say if you know what I mean been a little bummed lately and you always cheer me up thank you so much and this is my favorite series ❤
Hey thanks for watching, and wishing you better times soon :)
That film at the end looked more like a porno than a horror.
It's a nice series to document the retail apocalypse. 👌
I've been collecting since 2010 VHS and records mainly, and have noticed as well Goodwills are absolutely abysmal in recent years. I've had a lot of luck at antique malls that allow collectible booths in, so focus has shifted from thrifting your typical thrift joints to antique malls and such. Still hit up occasionally a goodwill but it feels like you really have to get there on a lucky hit when a nice drop comes in. PC games have been the bane of my collector existence! Crazy to see this series at 50 episodes. Always happy to see it though! cheers
Holy cow you were in town! Im the reason that 2nd and charles is picked clean of vintage computer stuff hahaha Next time you are in town you HAVE to go to another Antique mall called Oddballs its just about 2 miles up broad where 2nd and charles and it is filled to the brim with vintage toys, tech antiques radios, equipment and the like. It's where I got a NIB Commodore 64c and a Plus4 NIB
Goodwill no longer puts the high value items out on the floor anymore. They go straight to their own corporate auction website. I have had better luck at St. Vincent de Paul stores and locally owned thrift stores.
clint's neighbor from childhood watching this now: "THAT'S WHERE ALL MY GOLF BALLS WENT"
Never stop these! I’ve been watching it for years, they are very comforting.
I’d love to go thrifting, but I live in the UK, and we only have shitty charity shops. The best thing I ever found was a decent set generic of shielded PC speakers. They are shit.
Thrifting has changed in recent years, because of stores no longer wanting to sell expensive vintage items on store shelves anymore. My local goodwill has mostly phased out selling vintage physical media like VHS tapes and even video games! But 2nd and Charles in Richmond looks amazing, this is what thrift stores should be like for physical media!
Yeah shifting towards putting all of that stuff in their online auction instead
@@ragequit_taco_gamingthey’re trying to combat show-rooming, with putting those items online, because they want people to bid on those products and sell them more quickly.
Great video. That line about "UA-cam apology equipment" when referring to the ukeleles had me cracking up.
I'm out of the look on this one. What?
@@jameswalker199I don't get it either. Do UA-camrs use these to make apology videos? I don't remember seeing one
That zoom to the calendar broke me. 😂
17:50 random dancing guy 😂
That's my screenshot at 22:53.
My first contribution to a LGR video! 😀
Aha my first contribution is at 22:54!
Nice score! Mine too, he got my shot at 23:44.
Books a Million is the Only Bookstore left in Somerset KY, unless you want to consider Walmart a bookstore 😆
Your thrift videos are some of my favorite content on UA-cam. 😄
the Macho men song at the end got me in tears. Music for the Apocalypse.
"UA-cam apology equipment" got me
There's that WWF CD! That thing is a treasure.
its really annoying that thrift stores are becoming more and more "used clothing / furniture" stores rather then the place for weird stuff people tossed out
LGR will be watching this video in 30 years: "Dang! Should've bought those adult diapers!"
That 2nd and Charles store looks like heaven. Wish we had something like that this side of the pond!
WOAH NO WAY A NEW LGR THRIFT EPISODE
WE EATING GOOD TODAY BABYYYYY
New LGR and CRD thrifting videos in the same week? What luck!
LGR THRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFTS!!!!!! I love these, oh my gosh, I even have nostalgia for these at this point lol.
"How about Elsweyre?"
"Khajit has thrifts if you have coin!"
Jaguar with Jaguar CD add on is a crazy thing to see at a thrift store
Nice to see you trying still on the thrifts. Problem is that most of the thrift stores are doing auction sites to sell their expensive and unique items now. So long vintage monitor or radio. Its shipped to the highest bidder e.e
Yep. Goodwill especially is hardly worth going to anymore- 90% of interesting things will just get put to online auction, and the remainder will be priced at retail value. Local competitors are better, but come in various levels of quality. So-called "vintage" shops can also sometimes have interesting things, but prices can be higher and item turnover is much slower, so it's not somewhere to go every week.
This is why I stopped going to Goodwill completely. Do they want to have a physical store or do they want to pay employees to list everything online? You can't have both. If you take literally anything decent and list it online then there's no point in going to the stores. Their stores are just rubbish bins now where they sell nasty used clothes for 90% of what they cost new and beat up garbage furniture that belongs in a crack house. I miss when thrift stores were actually decent.
13:56 - Woah, you found the Gjallarhorn!
"UA-cam apology equipment " 14:31
I had to stop the video because I was laughing so much
