Great to see the Late John Douglas. John was a great example of Corby. Coming from hard Conditions in Scotland. That generation came to Corby with a good work ethic, honesty and a determination for a better life.
My grandparents moved down from Glasgow to work in Corby, so I'm one of the descendents (now I live in Scotland, ironically!). I was brought up on Scottish stuff, I always got my Oor Wullie/The Broons books at Christmas, and I understood Glaswegian well so that prepared me well for moving up, haha. Heavy Edinburgh accents are actually harder to understand. Corby had a REALLY rough time back in the 90's when I grew up there, but the town has improved a lot and is actually quite nice now. I like visiting and seeing how it's coming along. I like the song!

Old Protestant Scotland movin' out to England: Corby's folk are straight Scotsmen the way they used to be before Scotland itself incorporated Irish folks who had to flee home. Scotsmen were as anti-English as they were un-Irish and thoroughly Protestant, let's face it. They could be fiercely Scottish and at the same time not share the 'Celtic identity' with the Irish, yet still sounding very much anti-English. I'm saying that without any shade of disrespect towards the irish, let's state it clear. It's just a wee bit of history.
What a load of pony. Get that chip off your shoulder. In all my years, bar the odd eeijit, there has always been a great mix of Prod and Catholic. To say they were all Proddy Calvinist English hating Scots Nationalists is not fact, it’s BS.
