Hi, thank you for this content. FYI, I need to do the first-time GIT setup before I did the commit changes in my Visual Studio Codes and then followed by Sync Changes. Big thanks 🍉
The hard part where I & most beginners are confused is how to find good first issues *corresponding to my own tech stack* like for example if my tech stack consist of java, spring, Hibernate. Then its difficult to find repositories for these certain technologies and even if I find out any of the good first issues, corresponding to my tech stack then in most of them contributions are ALREADY made by others ! In that case what a beginner can do ? Its really hard to find out typos or any other fixable mistakes !
This is something no youtuber will make videos on. They just make videos on how to make pull request. Nobody goes into telling what exactly to do Or find issues
Understood, I can make a video on this, do some contributions to real world projects like Flutter and show it live. I believe a video like this is not made as it will be too niche down. People who are interested in open source and that too Flutter would watch that specific one. If you're really interested, let me know I can make a detailed course on this on my courses platform (courses.alisolanki.com) just like I had made for making NFT collection
@@AliSolanki I am glad you noticed my comment & yes if it would address the process of finding good first issues easily for our preferred tech stack & understand the given task then it would be a really helpful course.

But github PR is too general, I wanted this to go to the people who were making their "first" PR, that's why "how to start". Also I've also taught about merging the PR, making changes in an existing repo, talked about how to find repos to contribute to and a lot more. I feel the title you're suggesting might mislead the audience
It would have been nice if you had shown by setting up a random open source project or finding good first issues instead. Whatever u mentioned above - first pr, merging pr, making changes, searching, etc all comes under "github" context. This is a pre req before u contribute to OS, it's like people not knowing github and wanna contribute to OS.
I'm scared of contributing as I feel I need to be very good in my domain to even understand the code base and contribute which I am not currently infact I never feel prepared enough.
content is nice but keep the pace a bit slow because as the content is meant for beginners and its completely new for them it takes a bit of time to process the content.
how are we supposed to clone big/large repositories ,your repo just have a readme file so it took some milli seconds but while contributing to large projects cloining there repo will take hours i guess
Heyy no actually this is for beginners and that's why I created my own repository where they can try their hands on with PRs and raising issues instead of spamming open source projects repositories, had no ill intentions for it
I was able to follow up until the “sync fork” part. I tried sync fork option but it shows a message “this branch is not behind the upstream alisolanki:master “ . Can u help me with this . Btw thanks for a simple explanation.liked it.
The video is good. But the problem is that my dreams are too big. I want to contribute to Kafka, Redis, Neo4j and Axon. I want to start with Axon but god its very complicated.
