      If someone is choking you in the front, and against a wall or a laid surface, can you use your legs to kick their chest or groin? I was watching a show where one of the characters gets choked by someone, and I was confused while watching the scene because couldnt they kick them or try to push them off with their legs?

    If you face an attack by a trained striker/boxer, knowing how to slip and parry can be essential skills to train. The punch blocking and striking skills shown here can be very effective as a counter to a slower or sloppier attack. When to make the transition from parry and slip to getting inside can be essential to train for in the event of a skilled(boxing) attacker.

    We practised the choke in our last training in Krav Maga , and my buddy was extremely strong with two iron hands, and a second after he put his hand around my throat and start to squeeze I couldn't move or do anything, so to make it effective, you literally have to execute the move the second he touch your throat ,( as it demonstrat in the video ) you'll not be able to do much after your opponent start squeezing your airway.

    • @Victor-md8jt

      The best way of breaking a frontal strangle hold is by using this method.
      (1) Raise your right arm over the attackers left arm and grab his outstretched right wrist and turn your body swiftly to the left, this will release the right hand around your neck.
      (2) Whilst still holding his right wrist force your right arm downwards so his left arm is held against your chest.
      (3) Using your left hand exchange the grip your right hand is holding on his right wrist and position your right hand underneath his biceps and execute a hip throw.
      It will take a little practice to get your timing and speed right but it does work, and positioning your body for the hip throw should come naturally when all the moves synchronise together. The benefits of this defensive move is you have complete control over the attacker, even after the hip throw you can maintain the grip on the right wrist and bring your foot down on their exposed neck.
      Practice this with your friend, his strength won't make any difference to the outcome, more likely he will be flat on his back grinning at you.

    So let's talk about the different levels of choke holds. That classic two-handed throat grab, which is what Homer Simpson does to Bart Simpson, is _pathetically_ easy to defend yourself against. Sure, it's an easy choke, but the least effective. Now when you get chokeholds from _behind_ where the guy's arm and elbow make a "triangle" around your throat, _then_ you're in trouble, because that's a blood choke.

    Being chocked?....Twist 180* lock his arm under your armpit and elbow to the face. OR just step back and twist out of the way. OR bring your arms upward from the outside cross them together and lock them over the choke hold and drop down and step back breaking the opponents wrists from your body weight.

      I am doing Krav Maga lessons, and in our course they teach us to push forward for a while after the first defensive attack.
      In this case (a front choke), the way I was taught is: release his hands from your neck and at the same time kick him in the groin, then uppercut, grab him at the back of his neck while holding his other hand twisting it, two knee kicks in the groin, punch in the neck and push him away. All this in a matter of 5 seconds.
      That should take care of him

    • @Tonofhats
      @Tonofhats 10 років тому

      You can either retreat to run away or you can push forward and attack even more, it's honestly up to you, sometimes it is better to retreat and the knee to the groin will give you a good few seconds to just leg it.

      Rand Name substitute "fighting" for "training" and you are correct. Let me say this and contemplate on what this means; fear & shock are some of the most powerful emotions that the user creates. "You cannot whip a cow if you want it to give you more milk, and you cannot yell at a chicken for it to produce more eggs than it can yield, but you can force a human to give you their money."

    • @wattlebough
      @wattlebough 6 років тому +1

      Frank Mckenzie Yes the problem with this defence is that if someone is choking you while standing they will be aggressively forcing you backwards if there is space behind you. If a defender tries to throw a kick or knee while experiencing backwards momentum they will be off balance and fall over. My Krav Maga school under the Protect syllabus of Itay Gil has rejected this choke defence and adopted the rotational force of turning the body 90 degrees while throwing an arm over top of the attackers choking arms, and then dropping your elbow on the opposite side of his arms, and then countering with a reverse elbow to the face with the same arm. It’s possible to do this while being forced backwards.

    Anyone whos ever done some jiu jitsu knows that the front choke that makes you not able to breathe is the worst thing you can attempt because it takes a too long time to do and too much energy, you can survive it for more or less 2 minutes. With that in mind isnt the best thing to do just wait until the other person is tired from choking you and then go for all of those moves? Because your chance of succeding escalates the more tired your opponent is.

      @innerfire81 2 роки тому

      Good question. I would say kick his opposite knee from the side or deliver a very powerful downward kick to the shin. Even the first step is problematic, though. I wouldn't even bother trying to peel the hands off. If someone has a very strong grip, it won't work, no matter how cool it looks in this video. I wouldn't struggle with the attacker's grip; I would just clap the ears hard and/or double punch over the top of his arms, palm-heel strike under the chin (forcing the head back), or why not just gouge the eyes (that should immediately distract the attacker). The instructor talks at the beginning as though these things are too difficult to implement. They are very simple and require just a little practice.

    I don't know anything about this martial art but I do know that a lot of the techniques taught here are not the most effective way to do things. When I attended kickboxing, we were taught to grab the thumb and use that leverage to completely throw the person off balance and on to the ground with their arm under your control, it was quicker, more effective, less energy used as you are using their weight to control them and you don't have to continue by punching them repeatedly.
