Honestly this was my way of honoring her legacy, especially at the end. Every time I do a deep dive I have a personal goal to learn something about comics I didn’t know before, and what I learned throughout my time researching this one was what an incredible woman Jenette is.
Just an inflation calculation for context on the $1 comic, today that would be $5.19 USD. So 66 pages of story for the price of a floppy today. Also the $0.30 comic would be $1.56 USD. Not sure what that says about modern comics or 70s comics, just interesting context.
Thanks for that! Comics at this time were still struggling to be seen as more than cheap, discardable entertainment, and the price of them being so low was a contributing factor. It's a part of why they did eventually fall out of favor with the newsstand market. Jenette Kahn is a direct reason why comics gained more respectability through the 80's.
Great video. I’ve been very interested in this topic since reading Slugfest: Inside the Epic 50-year Battle Between Marvel and DC. An excellent book that I highly recommend to any comics history fan.
Love that you reposted this, Jeanette Kahn deserves an episode Imo

@@TheComicsPals did you see recent longform interview she did with Mark Millar on his show? Incredibly informative and revealing wow. . . .
@@danalvin1184 I saw that she did a show with him yeah, I haven't had the chance to check it out though. It's on my watch list!
@@danalvin1184 I was gonna watch that, very interested in her after this video
This was a great lookback back of DC comics from the late 70s.
Thank you!
That was a great opening. Really brought lots of context into things and got me interested in the video topic
Thanks so much!
Great video. Learned a whole lot about Comic History I'd never even heard of before.
Thank you! That’s the goal!

Amazing video and great source of information for behind the scenes in the comic book industry!
I appreciate that! The history of our industry has to be told.

The Peoples: Comics!!
Me: Cats!!!
Great episode guys. It must have been a very difficult episode Sean
Thanks a lot Rami. These are time consuming but certainly a labor of love!
This should be fun. The only DC books I've read from this time were Green Arrow and Hard Traveling Heroes
I hope you enjoy!
@@TheComicsPals It's been awesome. A lot of characters are older than I would've thought
The blizzard was really bad. Nobody could go anywhere for days
Yeah, I saw pictures of people’s cars abandoned on roads completely covered in snow. It looked like a disaster movie or something.
Real bummer that that blizzard blew all these diverse sketches away...
59:33 Not the J word!! 😂
Hey man if the shoe fits!! 😂😂👊🏾
Can you get get Bill Buer on the show?
Don't know who Bill Buer is.
At least DC didn't filed for bankruptcy.😅
Of course not, they had the corporate backing of Warner Bros. Did you not listen to what they said?
Thank you for paying attention
I wish the sections were dated on the time bar because I don't know what I watched and what I didn't watch.
Thanks for the suggestion!
