  • In today's video, we're diving into the guts of a failed Toyota U140F transmission to see what went wrong. Unfortunately, this one was too far gone to save. But don't worry, we didn't leave it at that! We got our hands on a U140F from a 2002 Toyota Highlander with a V6. Now, this transmission had a different final drive gear ratio and bell housing, but with a bit of ingenuity, we managed to combine the best parts from both to create one solid transmission. Follow along as we break it all down and show you how we turned two broken units into one reliable powerhouse!

Congrats again on going out on your own and following your dream, Will. Wishing you all the success coming your way.
According to a loud little old man that spits when he shouts on UA-cam, those cars NEVER EVER break, so you should probably play the lottery! 🤣

Warning, once you take the rear transaxle case cover off, you will need to replace the Direct clutch drum assembly with a new from Toyota. There is 2 Teflon oil rings on the case cover that wear a small groves inside the direct drum to case cover oil seals. This will not be a problem until reassembled which cause a flare 2-3 shift. That wasn't there before hand. Depend on your location cost is approx. $330 added to the rebuild cost.
