@She-Ra Princess of Power If only it was that simple She-Ra. The power of the masses and mainstream media have it so even the most polite and gentle person will most likely be attacked verbally by the brainwashed groups surrounding that person. The gentle person will be ganged up upon in conversation. I have seen it in classrooms when a pupil would speak the truth and the entire classroom gangs up on that person calling them a nutcase to a point it emotionally destabilizes the gentle person. Making the gentle person feel like a human being pointing out that the Earth is not flat during the dark ages where you would be burned at the stake for pointing such a fact out to the public.

@Streets Is A Myth it's not all online. I used to go to parties where a friend of mine was in social groups I just didn't fit into. I kept my mouth shut with everyone but him because I knew I could trust him, but then some of his friends started getting mad at me because he liked to talk to me about stuff that angered them. Eventually, they started confronting me at the parties, insulting me and trying to start shit. He would intervene and get my back, but I stopped going to the parties because the online crap drifted into the real world and I wasn't going to let that happen. Sadly, I haven't seen him in years because he lives with those people and they don't want me around anymore. That shit started online, but it's definitely in real life too. It's not common, but it is there.

Yes. Neil is so intelligent though with so much information. It's not super fun to listen to, or experience, but there is a lot of valuable information in listening to him.
Most professors/intellectuals/scientists are poorly skilled communicators because their brain space is used to innovate, and inform us of new ideas which leaves out the more entertaining and pleasant communication. It's very important to find a balance in everything, but not everyone can be everything!
Scientists are going to be intellectual and informative.
Entertainers are going to be entertaining and interesting.
      Etc.
Everyone is a mix of everything and let's just appreciate that we need all kinds of different people in the world !

All I can say is if you’re a good listener and you pay attention to what the other person is saying and then respond with something relevant rather then bombarding them with topics that random pop in you head. You don’t have to worry. My issue is, I have this young guy at work, he will unload on me about all kinds of random stuff, I don’t necessarily care about all of it but I listen but most of the time I try to respond to what he is saying, his eyes glaze over or he starts looking at his phone.

I had heard that people during the time of Abraham Lincoln would just talk to each other for hours and hours and the conversations were incredibly deep and significant. It’s only really during our lifetimes that we have lost the art of conversation and I truly believe that this will be the end of our civilization if we cannot get this crucial communication method back. Because without it, and you see it today, without it, we are right at each other’s throats.

The art of conversation is the art of rhetoric, taught from ancient Greek times; how to converse, how to discuss, how to debate, how to argue.
Its a lost art now. Individualism, being locked into headphones, and social has made taken people to a place where we cant write, type, spell, and talk, and every conversation is a heated hated argument.

I notice this with my younger friends. They misinterpret almost everything. It's easy for me to notice these personality traits because I teach old Koreans in one an one conversations and they are known to be socially inept and lacking in decorum. They will lament for 5 minutes about what is bothering them, I kindly respond for about a minute saying I understand what they are ssaying, and give them my thoughts on their story, then I tell them a similar experience I had, and they don't listen at all as evidenced by their next response having literally nothing to do with what I said. It just feels like a one way street conversation - that they are not showing me the respect and consideration that I am giving them. 3
It wasn't like this 5 years ago. 5 years ago most people would ask me a ton of questions. They would be just as proactive as me in bringing interesting topics to the table. They would listen to me well and remember the things I said when we would meet again months later.
I blame social media - especially twitter for having this effect on young people and then that trickling up to older people. Friends I have who years ago were fun to talk to now feel like robots.

Loreley I love meat & potatoes but it seems that society has deemed that evil. Being an old man when I was growing up my parents never bought junk food. When I was 21 I hit the road as a salesman and boy did I embrace junk food. Cheeseburgers, Tacos, Chili Dogs.
Then I marry a woman who hated to cook so we indulged in fast food & restaurants.
Being a teen in the late 60’s I started record collecting and by 2000 I had 6000 albums & 1000 45’s. Bizarre, Metal & Krautrock were mine. Frank Zappa, Faust, Captain Beefheart, Tangerine Dream, Guru Guru. By the time I was 20 and dating I learned to never play my music around others.
      Tag, you’re it. 😜
P.S. I sold my collection on eBay because my sons didn’t want anything to do with them.
