WELCOME BACK EVERYONE TO THIS YEARS PLAYA HATA'S BALL This year we've got Net "Silky Johnson" gear as a running contender, when asked for a quote he replied "man I just gotta hate on these 240s, like they aint got what i got so you gotta hate on 'em, let 'em know, you know?"
Netgear loves these cars so much because they're sick, but the unfortunate truth is that their awesomeness has attracted the worst fanbase. It's like the Mk4 Supra, except that these idiots could actually afford an s-chassis. They bought 'em when they were cheap, Instagram made them ruin them with RGB LED and welded diffs, and now they're stuck with clapped out rubbish that nobody wants. This is why you gotta get interested in more niche vehicles. Things that the TikTok kiddies don't even know exist. Their forums are full of adults, useful info and reasonably modded cars for sale.
LED's can be removed and weldeds are just cheap mans LSD what reaaaally did these cars in was widebodies and lack of care. these cars were too cheap for their own good and it caused people to not give a fuck about cutting into them with an angle grinder or taking it to like 3 consecutive drift events where it would smash limiter all day without an oil change because "its a cheap missile, who cares man"
OBS Chevy/GMC for me. We either buy a basic drop kit or it’s lifted. But the market is wild. I bought a 97 Tahoe in 2021. The mileage on it is exempt and stuck at 120k and I still feel like I spent too much on it but I spent less than what people are asking for these trucks now lmao
Right these morons just talk shit and have no real reason to hate on it, don't take some cheeseburger walrus neck beards salty advice Canadian chassis also didn't come with those awfully annoying automatic seat belts.
the sad thing is the same happens to most old JDM cars. Skyline, Supra, RXs, Civivs and what not all once had a price low enough for many people to buy and ruin them. And even if that didn't happen the price surge induced many scammers that sell absolutely fucked cars and lie about the condition to get s high price, and people fall for it all the time.
I'd take a Canadian car for the factory manual seat belts. UV damage would be lower than most US cars too. Rust would be a gamble, but that's "all 240s"
3:50 The other issue of buying someone’s engine swapped, highly modified built is that if something “simple” goes wrong and the car won’t start, or stay running, or insert common issue here, you gotta tear the thing apart until you figure it out. If it’s your build, you might know “oh yeah, that ignition coil we put in was already used and was actually for a different car” and you might know some things to track the problem down fast. But someone else’s build? On a drift car very likely you’ll be tearing it apart and rebuilding it back within the first year for something simple. Also, many drift cars you can’t even register in half the states - and even if you could, great chance of breaking something in a drift event, so driving it home on a second set of wheels might not be likely. That’s why you need a truck & trailer, and a place to store the trailer and car… basically, depending where you live it could be easy bc everyone has a pickup and a spare barn, or difficult bc you have a small garage and limited street parking. (If I park my car in front of my house for a week without moving it, the city will decide it is abandoned, and tow it. No joke. In front of my own house. Have gotten the warning sticker many times after parking it for 4 days.)
I got a near mint condition top trim manual '84 corvette from its sole owner for $8500. Complete with a novels worth of service records, brand new nice tires, all new shocks and bushings, new radiator and cooling lines, and a relatively fresh respray in the factory color. It had 98k miles when I bought it. Currently going strong at 107k with no problems so far. You really don't need to spend $8k on a clapped out 240 to enjoy an entry level RWD sports car. There's much better places to spend your money if that's what you're looking for!
Hell of a lot of fun for the money! C4’s are being slept on right now. Did ‘84 have the crossfire injection that had issues? Either way, a 5.3 probably drops right in there (change headers, oil pan, intake manifold, etc) if you ever want more power. 👍
It does have crossfire, but I haven't had any issues with it so far. At its heart it's still just a small block so worst case scenario it can always just be carbed.
Shoot, $13k will get you a low mileage C5 these days! Ok, maybe $15k. But late C4’s and C5’s with low mileage and never driven above 2k rpm are easy to find - and you get a torquey V8 rwd car, stock, and will run for another 20 years.

There's some off importations in RSA (South Africa). Particularly when you consider that we had the turbo S13s sold here in South Africa. Also , Cape Town is coastal so here comes the rust
I can say I have a zero effs car. My 73 Continental. Ratty vinyl top. No door cards, blown out mufflers (its a 460. It still sounds good). It runs great and for the weight, its quick. I used to call it my parts car, for my mint 72 Continental. One is a suit and tie, the other is my leather jacket.
The reason that one 240sx seller wanted a buyer in AU/NZ is because the s-chassis/sr and rb tax is insane over here (I'm in NZ). People are willing to pay ridiculous prices for them, even to have them imported and hes obviously figured that out.
Watching these guys clown on 240s has taught me a lot about the car rather than making me regret getting one. Especially since I got one from c&b. And I know how they feel about c&b lol. Love the videos guys!!
Spending 13k on a car for sport/hobby is cheap in the world of racing. I spent 15k on a guitar but unlike the car, the guitar is only going up in value the more I use it.
@@carfriendsimulator9981 13k isnt peanuts. Not even to me. My point is that if its your goal 13k shouldnt be that hard if you finished high school. But thats just the car. Now comes everything else. Cars are money pits and racing is a much bigger hole. So if it were only 13k, thats obtainable. But this is almost bottom line race class car cost, and you dont have the 1200 dollar helmet or 2500 suit. So it you can afford racing you can afford a 13k car. Or stick to racing your friends on your bicycle.

I know you guys talk mostly about domestic cars. How do you feel about importing? I know netgear has an imported s13. Was really considering importing a Jzx. I love the chassis and seeing the prices of cars in the us it doesn't even seem that expensive. Thoughts?
It is insane to see this corner of the market get so bad. I bought a miata a few years ago for $2750 and it has been a fantastic vehicle to modify the way I want. I cannot understand how anyone is buying these rusty as hell shells for $5k and above. The 240 scene is getting so much further out of reach than people realize, and the good ones are $10k+. These are not an affordable project car in the current era for new adopters. I have been watching you guys for a long time, and there has definitely been less than 10 total 240's that were on the "worth it" scale. RIP
Gotta be auction cars/junkyard cars, brought back into circulation, by less handy, shady resellers, as the reason why so bad. Just like a manual gets marked as an automatic on a lot of Facebook ads I see, I bet a lot of them are claimed as clean title but probably salvaged. Factor that mixed with this, alot of them were made into autozone specials, back in the 2000-2015, when money was spent on them, nowadays I don’t believe anyone with the intend to resell had the passion to put back to stock pre-resale so they look like; this (junky)>not worked on>not completed>not sold> officially junked>auction>pulled back into circulation> etc. effectively erasing the history of said car, (even tho that’s how they happen to come into possession for dirt cheap because of it’s obvious problems/weak history) then turn around and try to resell off the name alone, or mentioning a “previous owner” 🙄 (atleast their were no lies in saying they were flipping it), to a poor young sap (and probably have the gall to claim, ‘a sucker is born…’ blah blah blah). When resellers invade… (cue doom music.)
Had 15,000 dollars of fuck off income. Bought a GSXR-1000. Drift car would be cool but now I’m the fastest thing on the road 99% or the time unless I run into a turbo Vett or something.

I’m not gonna lie, the IDGAF builds are liberating and that’s what I’ve built for the past few rides. I grew up building lowriders and mini trucks and in the beginning, they all had to have sick custom paint and I’d have to wash them all the time, I only drove them on pristine nice weather days and I’d cringe at the site of any new rock chips… my past two trucks (c10 and c1500), they’re honestly junk by going from my prior standards because they’re rough around the edges and have their issues in the body and paint department, but I drive the ever loving shit out of them and if it rains, oh fucking well… plus I live in Michigan so your cars get beat to fuck just driving down the roads and the weather, so the idgaf builds are where it’s at if you just want to drive your shit and have fun. Now if I lived in Florida or somewhere the roads were glass, I’d probably still be striving to build show worthy cars/trucks. But then again, my zero fucks builds may differ from some other people definition of a zf build. 🤷♂️
There were a few problems with 7th gen, bad piston rings leading to engine covered in oil and requiring a rebuild and such, but that was early models go for the later models and evade the ones that have a 1zz-fe go for 2ZZ-GE, it revs higher and has more torque(also more aftermarket support). Overall they are reliable and cheap sports cars, evade all riced and/or rusted ones at all costs. I personally would go for a 6th gen but it all relies on a personal preference/taste. Also do your own research.

I miss the days when all these cool cars were plentiful and cheap !
Feed destroyed Netgear with phaks and lawjik. Bringing balance to the cynicism. What a pro, you guys.
The reason that one 240sx seller wanted a buyer in AU/NZ is because the s-chassis/sr and rb tax is insane over here (I'm in NZ). People are willing to pay ridiculous prices for them, even to have them imported and hes obviously figured that out.
Canadian cars tho usually have more standard features, like abs was required there 10 years before the US
Watching these guys clown on 240s has taught me a lot about the car rather than making me regret getting one. Especially since I got one from c&b. And I know how they feel about c&b lol. Love the videos guys!!
Netgear a professional yapper. He complains more than his mother.😂
Spending 13k on a car for sport/hobby is cheap in the world of racing. I spent 15k on a guitar but unlike the car, the guitar is only going up in value the more I use it.
Cheap in the world of racing, but that doesn't make cheap for a normal person
@@carfriendsimulator9981 13k isnt peanuts. Not even to me. My point is that if its your goal 13k shouldnt be that hard if you finished high school. But thats just the car. Now comes everything else. Cars are money pits and racing is a much bigger hole. So if it were only 13k, thats obtainable. But this is almost bottom line race class car cost, and you dont have the 1200 dollar helmet or 2500 suit. So it you can afford racing you can afford a 13k car. Or stick to racing your friends on your bicycle.
me personally Ill stick to my bicycle.
Netgear hating on Canadian cars solely for the cluster gauges being in kilometers and not miles is misguided.
He should be hating them because most Canadian cars are rusty pieces of shit.
Should do a special episode looking at the s chassis market in japan
I'm not into that respect the build off the top but your boy in this video doing all this stupid talking is like what's wrong with him is he super broke or something?
First he's complaining about somebody spending money on what they want to spend money on then he says what he would spend money on that he wants to spend the money on.
What car are you going to buy for 13 Grand that doesn't need something question mark and I'm in a car that has panache to it
As a Canadian I think Netgear should say: "I'm sorry aboot the Canadian insult."
Based Canada haters
Player haters ball ep go crazy
That gold car that came up second is pretty much how any English s13 looks today ….. no sills no rails but 5k cheapest listed 🤣
Soo glad that EG Hatches aren't nearly as bad market-wise.
For 13k you could buy a c4 and 5k dollars in tires for driting and have just as much fun
I’ve always been too tall for these cars. Main reason I’m going down to one car
Warmup for the stream tomorrow, gonna make it rain! (bOnErs)
240 Collector Feed would be a better name for this channel
I know you guys talk mostly about domestic cars. How do you feel about importing? I know netgear has an imported s13. Was really considering importing a Jzx. I love the chassis and seeing the prices of cars in the us it doesn't even seem that expensive. Thoughts?
It's a solid option honestly, your money will buy you a much nicer car in Japan
Doesn't swapping out a gage cluster make a car salvage title? That's what I've always heard/been told, at least.
Canada car comes with no rights
But it has free healthcare, so it fixes itself.

As crazy as these prices seem as these cars get more rare and collectable these prices will probably seem cheap 10 years from now ....Especially as millennials start to reach there peak earning years they will have a mid life crises and want there old dream car at any cost ..., Just like the boomers did with muscle cars ...
Netgear hatin hard asf in this video but I love the realism 😂
Honest question guys. Where and when does mileage become red flaggy for a car? I say 150k is the cut off.
Is mileage a location to you?
@@OwO---Drunk_Seulgi---OwO born and raised lul. U know what I meant
@@AlphaFlight It depends man. If the compression is good, no leaks, smooth idle, and it's an engine known to last you should be fine. You could also find an Audi, VW, or Hyundai with 60K miles that's full of carbon and ready to explode. You gotta do more research.
Can we get a Netgear guntube video for the lols?
9/10 if the freeze plug is out the engine is fine because the freeze plug did its job. Speaking from experience
All you gotta do is tap a new one back in with a balpean hammer or something of the sort
Another video on the hard truth of 240SX's🎉
Spending 13k on scratch-offs is a better investment than that 240.

Netgear 3:40 , I bought myself a 370z for less than this, probably just as fun, but also possible to daily, only caveat was high k's, but who cares its a Nissan.
net gear was rambling about the canadian 240 like drunk dad lol
Y’all should make an episode on geo metros/Suzuki swifts!
Is a Canadian speed limit still a speed limit?
yellow signs arent
Would you guys consider the 7th gen celica as a decent daily or a high schooler’s sports car
Anything could be considered a high schoolers sports car so…… sure
There were a few problems with 7th gen, bad piston rings leading to engine covered in oil and requiring a rebuild and such, but that was early models go for the later models and evade the ones that have a 1zz-fe go for 2ZZ-GE, it revs higher and has more torque(also more aftermarket support). Overall they are reliable and cheap sports cars, evade all riced and/or rusted ones at all costs. I personally would go for a 6th gen but it all relies on a personal preference/taste. Also do your own research.
If your in high school you need a Volvo S80 or XC90 until your not a dumb ass high schooler anymore
@@maineiacman cmon man, let him be the coolest guy in the school, he is still young and wants to stand out. Speaking of Volvo's, Volvo 850 T-5R could also be a good option, but they are pretty pricey. Older RWD Volvo's could also be a cool project car or a reliable daily, that would make him stand out, since all the wagon owners are no longer soccer moms, wagon owners are now chads.
@@maineiacman also the ones you recommended are fkng expensive as hell, no highschooler can afford it and no reasonable parent will give that amount of money for a first car.
Netgear, bring the hate 10:45

Could you do some videos on the Toyota mr2
you could unfuck that drift car to... drift that car... but also do other track stuff. but yeah its not for everyone

How come nobody ever calls a motor an engine, but they call engines motors all the time?
