    Looks like I got a steal... bought with my house for $1500 total with the Travis Court series-2 twin beds, dresser, vanity w/ mirror, and stool, buffet with mirror, 6 chairs and the dining table with leaf (the table had never actually been eaten on as the family had this beautiful case/cover made for it)... yay 🎉

    Thank you for the informative video! I recently bought a used end table and found out it is a Drexel Heritage piece that had been painted a white rustic farmhouse look. It is beautiful and such good quality!

    Thank you so much for YOUR time. I wonder what happened to the furniture business that they had to close up shop after all those years of making such beautiful furniture. What are people buying instead? Ikea?

      Hi Lois. Thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately, many American furniture companies were forced to compete with imports that were so much cheaper from overseas. I think this, and a generally shrinking middle class made manufacturing and selling furniture extremely difficult for these companies, sadly. But we can still enjoy their pieces because they generally last for generations. Thank you for watching!

    I found a 1980s Drexler Heritage Black Chinoiserie black lacquer cabinet at an antique store with a gold Habersham sticker with black fonts on the right door. I checked the back of the cabinet and its painted black but a section of look like a label was taken off??

    9:36 This was fascinating. I had often wondered about the history of the name changes by the company. About 40 years ago, I
    I traveled to North Carolina for the express purpose of buying bedroom and dining room furniture for my home. The mahogany pieces I bought were in the Heirloom collection by Heritage. It is remarkable how well these pieces have stood the test of time. I am now looking for a nightstand from that collection. I believe there may have been two almost identical nightstands in the collection but one is slightly taller than the other. Where one is 24 inches tall the other is 25 1/2 or 26 inches tall. I am looking for the taller one.
    In order to avoid significant freight charges, I am trying to find this in the Northeast Florida area. Any thoughts?
    Again, thank you for taking the time to make this video. I watched every minute of it and enjoyed it all!

    Hello! I have a Drexel Heritage side table. The numbers on the bottom (two lines) are 861 - E (first line) and 12 - 57 (second line). I'm trying to figure out how to read these - meaning any indication of the year of production, product line, etc. This is a travertine-topped, walnut side table. Any insight you are able to provide on how to read these numbers, would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

    • @VintageFurnitureGuide
      @VintageFurnitureGuide  Рік тому

      I'm guessing by the style stated and numbers possibly 1960 thru 1970 since they made lines for quite a few years years ago..if in perfect condition maybe $300 since u have one and not a pair..minus commission on a selling site that's reputable...at auction maybe $5 to $40...retail with flaws maybe $25 to$75 hope that helps

    Hi, thank you for this information.
    I have a beautiful Drexel double bow front dresser (10 drawers) and would love to know more about it but can't find any info on it.
    The serial number on the back is 2302-2 MARY 95 (then maybe a 3rd number but can't tell).
    It's a beautiful, sturdy piece. They really crafted them well! I just love it.

      Make sure when yoy shine a light in front you can see a pin in the middle od the lock, otherwise you would need to rip off the back of the cabinet to remove the lock from the inside and replace it all, work and a cost of anout $50 today, everything is up so high.... but the key sets should work no problem, no cheaper way sorry....keys have shot up

    I have a couple pieces of Drexel bedroom furniture that I acquired from my aunt when she passed. I believe I have the 'Biscayne' 8 drawer dresser (Mirror got broken during a move), a chest of drawers that has 3 long drawers at the bottom with 2 cabinets on the top. On the right side of the cabinet doors is a split level shelf, and on the left side it has 3 smaller drawers inside. I haven't been able to find this piece online anywhere. The only numbers I could find on the back were 2480 - 2 .854. I'm guessing the 854 represents it was manufactured in August of 1954. I also have a nightstand and a end table. All of it must be from the 50's and it's in really good shape. I've been thinking about selling but I'm not sure what price to ask for it. I'm not trying to get rich but I'm also not trying to short myself. Any suggestions?

    I have just bought a Drexel tall shelf as it was listed. It is a bookcase, from a second furniture shop. Did not realise how valuable it was until I sent a picture of it to my friend and the price of £70 I paid. She said being second hand it was overpriced so out of curiosity I did some research and found I came across a gem. It also has the markings at the back with the name Drexel. So happy I have it now, the vendor normally sells them for £150 but needed to get rid of the items in the holdings as it was costing hime money to rent the holdings. The only way I would sell it would be if I do not have a place bigger enough to house it but I doubt it it is 197 H, 76W, 34D (cm). Just evaluates my pantry. Great video! Old is definetly better in my opinion.

    Hi!
    In 1988 I purchased a Drexel Heritage,Cherry, Queen Anne (Carlton) table with 2 leafs,4 side chairs and 2 arm chairs. I’ve taken very good care of it, so it’s in great condition. I was interested in selling it, and was wondering if you have any thoughts about that particular design, and if there’s even a market for it? I would appreciate any input you have.

    • @VintageFurnitureGuide
      @VintageFurnitureGuide  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Roz. I do think there is a market for gently used Drexel Heritage Dining sets. Queen Anne is a classic, but it may sell to someone of traditional taste (therefore a buyer older than 30). I would say if it is in "like new" condition, you could offer it for sale anywhere from $400 to $1200. Certainly it depends on where you offer it, but many of my clients have had good luck with Facebook Marketplace. Best of luck and thank you for watching!

The pieces were given to me in the 90's used, Im guessing maybe made in the 1960's, the finish is redish, thought maybe maple or cherry wood! Just wish I could get some more info on it? Hello, thank you for the video. I am trying to find out when a piece of Drexel Heritage Furniture was made. It has a long sticker on the bottom that reads, Drexel Furniture with a number 05767 inspected by a name and Plant 8. Is 67 the year it was made?

    • @VintageFurnitureGuide
      @VintageFurnitureGuide  2 роки тому

      My best guess would be yes 67 is probably the year. Quite a bit of furniture was made for at times a decade or more with no real changes.. I have had 1940's Kling furniture that was identical to a 1970's Ethan allen furniture nightstand, in that case Kling was eventually bought by Ethan Aleen.

      sorry we dont do appraisals, the value is in the condition and the look and your ability to sell and deliver the item, a small side table in used condition i would look to buy at auction for $5 to $50 and spend about $60 to $200 to refinish, then lose about 20 to 30 percent selling it online due to commissions marketing costs and our store, thats why for instance we do not do any consignments. hope that helps , also selling just one piece is alot harder than having hundreds for sale which casts a bigger net.

    I'm having trouble pricing an entire Bedroom set (5 pieces), Passages by Drexel. Do you have a Drexel Catalog?

    • @VintageFurnitureGuide
      @VintageFurnitureGuide  Рік тому

      I have catalogs but catalogs usually do not include price lists as furniture stores markup what they can. You need a price list which at times can be found on ebay for different years, Drexel made many lines of furniture though. Passages was popular and today you will see high prices but i wouldnt consider those as a guide and unless you a proffesional seller since prices factor or back in many costs. The last set of passages at an auction with many resellers shopping went for about $1200 to $1600 used in almost immacualte condition. An insurance appraisal type estimate i would think would be about $3500 for a complete set. A lone wolf resell price would be about the same as the auction price but may take some time to sell and arrange delivery which would run about $600 to $1200. hope that helps.

      We call it 1940's typical mahogany, was very much made by most furniture companies in the 1940's and 1950's. It is mahogany veneers on top of mahogany . Sadly today many pieces like it are called painters as they get painted modern colors.. Look good refinished but are at the lower end of resale value at the moment.

    • @VintageFurnitureGuide

      Hi Stephanie, you bed is used so yes its vintage. Pine is not always very desirable in furniture. The value would be in the condition, like new with absolutely no flaws or marks with nice clean hardwood slats for the mattress and ofcourse tight frame we ask about $500 to $600 for the pair. If only one maybe $20 to $100 dpending on condition and look, desirability etc.... pine was used often in the 1970's

    • @VintageFurnitureGuide
      @VintageFurnitureGuide  2 роки тому

      Hi Phyllis! I am not sure I know this particular model... However, the value of a vintage Drexel Heritage Secretary desk can range from $400-$1500, depending mostly on condition and finding the right buyer. I know that's a big range, but the condition of your piece really matters. Also, trends really play a part. I would say, try to use words that describe the style ("French Country," "Georgian style,' "Federal Style," "Early American" etc) and try to search that way for your particular desk model. Best of luck! I hope it finds a new home! Thanks for watching!

      Condition is everything, if in like new condition with no flaws at all we would price it at about $800, in as found or used in any way condition at auction we would expect to pay $75 to $300 and then spend $$ to refinish it, on a site like facebook marketplace i would ask about $200 to $300 in the condition you described.
