Brilliant, but for the rest of the tour please change the snare or at least the snare tuning, otherwise it doesn't sound like VH. I think the Tama Rosewwod model used on their first LP's could be the best choice !
They're playing a whole tone down to help Sammy, which he's been doing a while for songs like Poundcake. On one hand that changes the guitar sound too much, however, I like the original vocal melodies retained by doing that. I mean, I'd love to hear AC/DC play Thunderstruck like that and hear Brain sing it the old way.
Agreed! Like Zep did in their 2007 reunion show...Stairway was in Gm instead of Am...I much prefer bands dropping the key of any given song to accomodate an older singer's voice. Rather than the singer cheating the notes or melody. That being said, I saw Roxy Music a couple years ago and the keys were WAAAAY down to fit Bryan Ferry's current lower voice. It was very subdued and kind of a letdown.
@@TomBVoxman Wow, did they use a dropped-tuning guitar, or transpose? It's tough one because you change the character of a song either way, but on balance I'd rather here the right notes from the singer. Thunderstruck has sounded daft live for years, you can't blame Brian Johnson, the guy is 76!

i think vic johnson would have done a great job on this tour. They're basically playing the songs Sammy has played on tour throughout his solo career. With the exception of 2 or 3 songs. This is Chickenfoot.
I think Joe adds the name recognition. Vic is pretty good at playing those Van Halen songs.
Vic isn’t that good, solid player but really struggles to pull off much.
Brilliant, but for the rest of the tour please change the snare or at least the snare tuning, otherwise it doesn't sound like VH. I think the Tama Rosewwod model used on their first LP's could be the best choice !
Sammy rules
Excellent performance.
Wow..enjoy
Awesome!! ❤
Great post
@@Hologhoul not all songs, but Jimi tuned down a full step for stairway. Kashmir was in the original key. Plant was fantastic on that one.
Sounding Good
Can't wait for Atlanta tomorrow!!
