    Did you think of a ball change? You stayed in the idol like you were married to it- “until death do we part.” And it was death of your tournament. When you make poor shots it is one thing, but when you make good shots and can’t catch a break, you are in the wrong ball and it makes you pay for bad shots and doesn’t pay you back on good shots. .

    • @ForrestKritzer
      @ForrestKritzer  Місяць тому

      Yes, I changed several times, but it was not on camera. I wasn’t filming the entire time. Didn’t have good ball reaction with my other equipment as well. The idol gave me the best look at the pocket.

    Tough loss Forrest. You were not alone with the vicious taps with others like to big man with stone 7, pocket 7-10, etc. Does not make any easier to swallow but better luck and look next time Forrest! Approaches were wood? I remember bowling in county tournament years ago. Got there late after falling asleep at home. First frame without any practice shots slipped and fell on first shot. May have been someone using powder on there shoes but who knows.

    Great vid Forrest, I’m sorry you had such a tough time! I had a tournament this weekend and had the exact same issue, throwing it good, not carrying, and missing easy spares, super frustrating when you have decent ball reaction with one ball but nothing else. I had to buy new shoes to be able to bowl at a local house in the fall. They were so tacky and I could not get past it mentally. Luckily the new bowling shoes have a variety of slide pads to choose from. You don't know how important the condition of the approach is until it goes sideways on you. My only thought was you could have changed balls. But that probably wouldn't have saved you. Keep up the grind. Your videos are fun to watch.

    The Optimum Idol remains a ball I can’t figure out even though everyone says it’s a benchmark ball. Sometimes it picks up in the friction and sometimes it just slides through it just cuz and leaves weird splits. I think I’m going back to the Sublime since that is a bit more predictable. Keep on working on equipment. Curious on what you land on.

    I'm sorry I'm old school lt looked like left or right had at least 5 boards you could hit and still hit pocket to me that's an easy shot but I think bowling is at least 20 pins a game easier now than it was back when I was young in the 70's and 80's I can say this because in 79 I had a 206 book and lasted year I bowled league after not bowling for over 30 years and avg 217 with using plastic and it's not because I got better in my 60's

    Great video as usual
    Here is the problem on the front 5 games. You played too deep... and needed to shift right and soften your hand up. You need to be more up the back and walk the ball in than trying to wheel lanes that are over under like what you saw. Tough games... but I really think you should work on playing more up the back and walking the ball in for some light mixers/swishers. Some lanes require light hits and some lanes PUNISH solid 1-3 pocket hits for no reason at all...BUT...you now have something to work on... because I think this is a missing part to your game. Instead of turning to DRASTIC measures like LOFTING or moving in front of the ball return... Ball down and soften your hand up and you are back in the pocket and striking guaranteed.
    The second half... would have seen a much better result if you could get the ball into a roll faster and have it DRIVE more. So often you are playing deep for no reason. If the outsides are juiced then ball up and run a 1000-grit surface or perhaps a 500-grit. Wheeling shots on medium patterns is just impossible to be consistent for most talented bowlers. So take that part out of the equation and play up 5 and in or 8 up and in... get that ball into a roll and drive it into the pocket and not deflect, as you enter into the pocket, with your move left that you always do.

    • @ForrestKritzer
      @ForrestKritzer  Місяць тому

      Too much oil up 5 board. Not playable there

    • @therealhonestraider7921
      @therealhonestraider7921 Місяць тому

      @@ForrestKritzer Okay, so if you had a Big Asym with 500 grit... you're telling me you couldn't walk it in? You are one of the most talented bowlers that exist (Sucks about the bad luck that happens often).
      If you can't take the XCELL and toss some low grit on it and up the back that thing between 10 and 5... then that's what you need to practice.
      Your weakness is your short game... you can wheel a ball easily... sure... but I have NEVER ... and I mean NEVER seen you brute force a line... EVER. When you do that... you get the BRAD ANGELO effect... where you push oil into the breakpoint for those who ARE trying to wheel the ball and get stuck washing out... while you smash the pocket. Effectively playing defense.
      Note: Watch the PBA 50 World Championships that just happened. Watch how Brad Angelo basically forced Chris Barns to wash out 50% of the time just by brute forcing his line into Barnes BreakPoint.
      Practice your short game (put yourself in an uncomfortable position to the right and force your elbow in and your hand behind the ball) and walk that ball in... become a master at that... and you will see your game EXPLODE with success(Walter Ray is the most winningest bowler of all time and he made his name on UP and IN). You just have not explored the right at any point.. in any video. Yet the videos keep showing the same thing... you get stuck in an over-under scenario and you get lost... when you should change equipment and match your ball with what you are trying to do... just a bit better.
      I love your channel.. and I have been following you for quite a while now. I know you can do it, brother... just try to be flexible. Thats all.
