- How to Burn Defenders like MacKinnon - MacKinnon 1on1
If you've ever watched Nathan MacKinnon Highlights, you know that he is one of the most dangerous players in the NHL off of the rush. He beats defenders with speed - but also his footwork. We examine his footwork so that you can learn it and implement it in games.

You are the most helpful hockey teacher I’ve ever heard from thank you.
Thank you for watching! Let us know if you need any help! -Coach Mason
Solid vid. The c-cut weight transfer is the key!
Using the toes and the head direction to force the defenders to push that way! Love the duck bunny analogy I started taking on a defensive center role and started struggling to make moves because I wasn’t really putting effort into thinking on how to move the defender was just like yeah I’m gonna burn this guy this is definitely gonna change the way I move the puck on a quick 1on1/2on2 rush. Needed this video
YES! Another MacKinnon vid. He's amazing.
fluntimes what do you like about him?
Train 2.0 - Jason Yee MacK is the kind of explosive player I've always tried to be. But more than just power, he's got slick stick work and a hell of a shot, all of which he can activate at speed. Only a few players in the world have that imo. McDavid being the other obvious exemplar of skill at speed. That goal MacKinnon scored last year against the Capitals where he scythed through the D before roofing a backhand is a great example.
One of the best in the game now.
My favorite skater in the NHL.
you should do a matthew barzal skating anylists
Nathan Mackinnon Isolation? And where do you find the videos for the isolation
Can u do a video were you show us the best way to rush the puck for wingers. Like were to be and go
OutLaw Dipper15 yep! Is there a player you’d like to see me break down?
Train 2.0 - Jason Yee Mitch marner
it is just becouse of one simple factor and that's momentum he is going faster than the defensive....
Do these principles also apply to inline hockey players?
No question.
He zigs...when they zag...hmm simple enough
Patrick Kane isolation ?)
UA-cam Lynx workin on it!!
In the old days we called it a deke.
What professional league did you play in? hockeydb says otherwise.
Duck Bunny 🦆 🐇
This is kinda like the Rasmus Dahlin one where he changes the way of the player
IceAnt87 Similar principles, yes! What did you notice that was the same?
Train 2.0 - Jason Yee The way they both expose kinda the puck and then change directions
IceAnt87 Exactly! Great work seeing the pattern.
Train 2.0 - Jason Yee Just trying to get better 😆
This isn’t that special. drill drill on stickhandling then change directions really quick, keep the defenders guessing with different looks and feints
So, pretend to go one way, then go another. Why didn't I think of that?
Thats what every player in every sport does!
(The duck/bunny-analogy).
You really try to sound smart but the content is so trivial.
This was no help at all
it made a lot of sense to me. it's all about deception, and then using certain mechanics (c-cuts) to utilize that deception to create space. not that complicated.
