No matter how good or bad the beads can look to me. If they hold enough to get you out of a pinch, they are golden. A welder is one thing I’ve yet to add to my arsenal of tricks.

Definitely something to look at…I’m surprised you don’t have your own setup already

I have to decide if I carry my kid or the welder, lacking space in the rescue runner. lol, yes the limited space is that bad.

I have one and have used it a few times. I think it’s worth every penny.
The dude who sells them is cool too. Good people.

$1000 for a cordless flux core welder is cheap. At minimum you need 2500 watt generator to run a 120v welder, so a brand new Predator 3500 Watt inverter generator is $800. Then another $500-600 if you go with a Harbor Freight welder.

Welding rods. Trying to figure out what type of rod to use. The old days. A really nice piece of portable gear.

Use a torch to heat it up before you weld. You'll get better penetration and stronger welds. You can use a torch for all thicknesses of metal. 🤘

Just get some training/experience FIRST before trying to become a trailside welder. I grew up on a farm. My younger brother is still a farmer/bush mechanic. Sh!t like trying to weld while sitting in a puddle of water.. A great tool if used wisely! I have to say, younger bro pretty much taught himself. Trial and error along with a couple of old farmer mentors. But this is going to be 2024.

Those welds aren’t that bad, buddy. Get some burn time in and you’ll have it dialed. Stay sharp and keep the shinny side up.
