@@speed6725 Yeah what I really miss is seeing a Nitro car on 98% that sounded like dynamite being exploded, that had fire in the pipes @ idle and did half track plus burnouts, and did a series of dry hops. Also miss Match Racing and US 30 Dragstrip
@@timothyturner2165 Yeah, remember when one guy would do a dry hop and the other guy would answer with his own? They were like insane Nitro drenched beasts ready to do battle!
In about 2010....me and my lady friend went here with my White XLT metal detector and found several silver coins...pennies and a hundred old pull tabs. The track was still sort of still there all shriveled up and weeds growing out of the cracks. The concrete launch pad with ahra insignia was still readable.I went here as a kid about 7 times....and raced my Yamaha XS 1100 down the track a few times.Great memories.
This is awesome. I think mid 70s to mid 80s was the best time to be a drag race fan.
Maybe, fan since 1966, every decade was awesome, still to this day
There was more variety in funny car, body wise. Today it’s either a Dodge or a Chevy Camaro. And a couple of Toyotas.

@@aakar88 I grew up in MI and went to a bunch of races at 131 and also Milan. The burnouts and the dry hops were as important as the actual race.

Used to see Bergen all the time at OCIR before it closed, RIP Roland. sure do miss dry hops!
Add to that a good smokey burnout.

Thank you for this video.
Hal Canode is still racing yellow cars. Saw him last year at Muncie Dragway.
My favorite Driver John Force at what was US30 Smokin Drag Strip! Where the GREAT RODS RUN
One thing that always bothered me about drag racing....the announcers would never shut the hell up !
They want to be the stars!! Clueless and disrespectful of the greatest sport on Earth!
Great find, but man, those mph's were bogus!
