People don’t understand the science of a tug of war. If both cars are good 4x4’s, the winner is always the heavier car. From those results, it’s certain the benz is heavier. It’s obvious with the way the land cruiser is skiding on the ground that there is not enough traction with the ground. The results will be different if you load the land cruiser to give it more weight than the benz
I came here to write pretty much this comment. It's true. Tug of war is determined by the tractive effort not just by power or torque although that does play a part. The tractive effort is the force a vehicle can produce at the drawbar. Both vehicles have sufficient power and torque to break traction. Thus the limiting factor in tractor effort is tyres and technique (choice of gear, amount of throttle input etc). Look at it this way. Hook up an F1 car to either of these. Has over 1000bhp, probably 10 times at the road than either of these. But won't win a tug of war clearly. Not enough adhesive weight on driving wheels and tyres clearly not up for it. Conversely, an F16 fighter jet has turbines that combine to something like 20,000shp (shaft horsepower) but the key factor is thrust. 17.8kN of the stuff. Now take a diesel locomotive. I'll choose a BR class 60 (not the most powerful I know of just one I know about). Its diesel engine produces a comparatively small 3,100 bhp. But the drawbar tractive effort is 474kN. That's over 28 times the pull that the jet plane could manage. OK its a ridiculous hypothetical example but it shows that in a pull, the amount of power available is relatively meaningless. Horses for courses. In any case, let's retry this exact competition in this video in 20 years time. The Toyota will win because it'll still resemble a vehicle rather than a scrapped pile of rust.... #navara

The skill of the driver 5. Mercedes doesn't make a pickup like that, they buy it from Nissan and it is just rebadged as "Mercedes", but not actually Mercedes, it's a Nissan.
The landcruiser has lower torque compared to the xclass...from its looks and sound... its the inline 6 not the v8 turbo.... the xclass must be the Nissan shared 4cylinder turbo... which i think 400Nm much more than the landcrusers 289Nm
