hi bushy beard and bushy mom!!! thanks for reacting to Morissette's new video..actually "Usahay" is a courtship song sang by folks when they want to court someone during the early times..it is in a dialect known as bisaya, a dialect of the Visayan islands in the Philippines..she sang this together with Moon River because she actually came from Cebu, one of the Visayan Islands..music actually plays a big part in courtship during those times..for me this meshes well with Moon River since it it is also a sweet love song along with the jazz vibes incorporated to it 😊

Yes. The 2ng MTV is in Visayan dialect, her real 1st language mainly spoken at central Philippines down to some part of the South. Tagalog is the National language. Tagalog and English are the common languages used to interconnect different dialects. 👏👍💙🇵🇭🥰

Love you're commentary! I hadn't heard this song done other than by Andy Williams which i know bec my dad would make me replay this LP record over and over again when i was a kid in the 70s i. FL AND CA. He's long passed so when i heard her rendition and in her age genre....it was more than a pleasant surprise! Luv her emotion and feeling and brought me way back....the eay songs should be sung!! Now i replay this one myself but with the hit if a button of course! Tomes have changed to say the least@@

Usahay is a Visayan word for "Sometimes." Visayan is one of the many local languages in the Philippines. Born and raised in Cebu City, Philippines, it is actually Morissette's true native dialect (not Tagalog/Filipino). So proud of her singing this timeless, classic, Visayan song.
English translation:
"Usahay nagadamgo ako nga ikaw og ako nagkahigugmaay."
(Sometimes I dream that you & I fell in love (again).)

Usahay is kundiman ( folk song ) from the south of the Philippines., by the way she’s from the south also a Cebuana at that, that’s why she sang Usahay beautifully..
