KATHMANDU AIRPORT You Need Second Runway Seriously (one hour waiting in a plane to get Airborne)

- Very Busy (TIA) Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepalese Government should think seriously to find another place in Kathmandu for New Airport OR at lease build a second Runway this will ease flight operations for now and for the future at the current situation Kathmandu has only one Runway which they are using for Takeoff and Landing for both domestic and International flights.

Even if the government builds second runways or airport inside Kathmandu, you still have to wait. Because there are big mountains on one side, where big planes can't take off (this is what the captain said in speaker about one-way). The other side there is only 1 gateway and is between 2 mountains so traffic is high. This is why its called Kathmandu Valley. 3 new international airport are on works right now inside Nepal. Will be completed in couple of years. Closest to kathmandu is Nigadh airport and recently the road project to connect kathmandu to that airport has started.

@MrNepaliThakur Thank you for your comment big planes do takeoff from the other side of the runway TIA need to relocate the Heli Hanger and Helipad and build second runway for domestic flights use the whole circle for small planes movement from runway to terminal that will ease air traffic in my opinion this is the only option TIA have & they must build second runway as quickly as possible rather than spending huge amount of money to do new experience in making of new International Airport in another city which is far from capital.
@@natureinspirations9367 Nope, no big planes take off 02 runway and never has in history. For that to happen they have to ascend at a very steep angle with a 100 degree turn at the same time which is not normal on any flights They do however land through 20 runway sometimes and that is if they miss their approach and they do 180 turn. Or if they have to descend faster at high rate. Having a domestic runway in place of the hanger is of no use. This means international and domestic are using the same runway because they overlap. The same rules in aviation will apply which mean both runways have to wait certain minutes before another landing takes place.
The second airport next to ktm is will be a big hub for south asian passengers. The current airport can only handle 3 million passengers max. Even if increased, they will able to handle at most 5 million only. The new airport will handle 15 million passengers. Pokhara international airport will be used for tourist going for treks there. Lumbini international for Buddhist pilgrimages. . This means ktm airport will have less stress in future.and wil soley be used for pasenger coming into ktm.

Government is trying to make 300 metre runway extension and making wider taxiway.Also government plan to make TIA as World's First Beautic Airport.
viral Society Thank you for your comment and information you share about TIA plans but in my opinion this airport seriously need another runway they should move heli hanger some where else within airport boundary and across the runway where they have current hanger use that huge area for second Runway that is the only place I can see they have plus they should keep landing directions for all of the planes same including domestic flights. They should land from Koteshwor site and take off from opposite site rather than using same directions for both landing and takeoff.
TIA Needs least to least an addition runway for domestic flights keep them separate from Intentional operations that will help a lot and ease controlling situation will no confusion.
Don’t worry,the new international airport is about to be in work after 6 months in Bhairawa(lumbini)that may help to resolve traffic issues !
