Maybe they wanted to balance it out. Karen was always the rational, level headed Mom so they wanted Deb to be the opposite so Barbara and Moira didn't feel like they were playing the same character. I personally think it was a good move. Deb had some funny moments.

I can't believe that Barbra was pregnant here she doesnt even look like it:) and btw this was a really good scene i wish they wouldve found a way to put it in the episode!!:)

PhantomRaging they only let him stay because he said he lost everything and he only helped run Karen’s café for one episode .
