Hello! Just to reiterate, THESE ARE FAKE BLYTHES! At the time of filming this video, I had just returned to the hobby after a long break and was unaware of the influx of fake Blythes - especially them being marked as “factory”. Please excuse the confusion I had at the time. I will leave “factory” in the title for consistency with the video.
Woolly Alpaca you’re right, these days they are! But originally ‘factory’ Blythes were made from rejected and stolen parts from the official Takara Blythe factory. They were only sold for about a year until the factory was changed. They became rare and so the term ‘factory Blythe’ was used by sellers as a marketing tool to sell fake dolls. It’s all very confusing! 🥴
I'm really considering getting a factory Blythe or an ICY "Blythe" doll for my birthday. I've heard ICY dolls are excellent quality and they are much cheaper than Blythe.
eleventeen // I’ve never had an icy doll and don’t know too much about them, so unfortunately I can’t make much of a comment. It’d be a great comparison video if you ever get the opportunity! Would love to see how they match up and your opinion
Factory doll hair can be sometimes better then Stock it just they all come with no cloths and cost much less it’s like buying a top in a factory outlet when the same top in dept store cost more
I’ve got 6 coming from AliExpress... 3 girls and 3 boys. I’m going to customize them. Make clothing and probably cut or style the hair. Maybe change them!
actually i have 2 bjd, 16cm one and 62cm one... and i actually thought about buying blythe next.. but i am afraid that i will spend my money like crazy cause a pretty girl deserve a pretty dress and shoes😂😂😂😂 but i think about getting the bigger one... is 30 cm the biggest?
Gita Nisa it's funny, that's the exact reason why I haven't purchased a bjd yet! 😂 30cm is the largest, and if it helps, I've heard some 'slim tinies (bjd)' can share clothes with blythes... whatever that means hahah
Can i please have your opinion on this.. im ordering a blythe from aliexpress and i dunno if i should get a doll with a short grey wig or a long pink wig?
Woolly Alpaca that’s a tough decision! If one has straighter hair I would choose that one - much easier to manage. Short hair usually arrives messy and needing to be re-styled where the long hair is generally fine and doesn’t need much work. Having said that, long hair can be heavy and affect posing. Personally I would choose long hair because I like having the option to cut her hair short later if I wanted. Hope this was helpful ☺️
Okay i didn't know this until really recently but factory apparently isn't the right word for her(?)as she isn't made up from the original parts of the Kenner Blythes. So fakies/knockoffs are probably better words (not an expert obviously, just sharing what I know). Love your videos btw!!! And yeah, I agree, I just got my first legit Blythe (from a raffle in Blythefest Australia 2018), It's the Mermaid Tasha doll and her hair was severely gluey (I used the baby powder method to fix it) and crispy with really dry ends.
You’re 100% correct! I was still a bit naive and confused about the factory/fake definitions at the time of filming, I thought the terms were interchangeable oops! Congrats on your Blythe! What an amazing prize 😍 I hope the crispy hair hasn’t put you off too much, it’s such a shame considering the high prices of these dolls
plasticdays I watched from other videos that they’re factory run offs that didn’t make the cut to the edition but yes it’s mixed parts like you guys are saying above they’re talking about as well. They’re the brand though. I feel.So they’re Takara idk why ppl consider them fake. they’ve defects that I see that’s all. I mean it’s always fun to diy 🙂right? I mean I have the icies so they’re made in China but definitely different look to the mold and eye shapes to icies. I know they consider th sister dolls or clones? I have had nice clones as characters from Hong Kong shipped that make the doll collection fun but definitely they’re knock offs to me. Lol so hard to get them where I am the real ones $$$ haha for me anyway.
Sha Bamm they aren’t made from takara parts anymore, takara found out about the stolen parts and decided to change factories because of it. So the “factory” blythes now are just fakes that use the same mold. I don’t have anything against factory blythes because I own a few myself.
sparkly duck they’re jointed body fake Blythes 🙂 You can find them mostly on aliexpress! Although the majority of fakies will have the jointed body these days. Thanks for you’re support ❤️
Martha Vargas yes, these ones are from Aliexpress (China) and purchased a few years ago. I don’t think they come with the cute little bags anymore, shame :(
