What a perfect explanation! Could you please clarify also this case for N2H4? Since here we have 2 same central atoms, and the molecule is symmetric, the dipole moments should cancel each other.

I realize that's probably redundant because It;s explaining the same concept but I'm having trouble grasping a quick way to look at those models and conclude if they are polar or nonpolar. >.

I think SBr2 is polar. Sulfur has 2 lone pairs with 2 Bromine atoms on the side. Even though SBr2 matches with the rule that all atoms are the same, it does not fit the lone pair rule.
