      Why is water polar if it's central atom oxygen has no lone pair of electrons. And all the atoms around it are same ?!!!

    This is really helpful. After the semester being moved online in March because to COVID, I felt like I didn't learn much from CHEM I. Now that I am in CHEM II I have felt confused, but this made much more sense to me!

    4.5/5 Understanding , What I learned: very hard for molecule to be nonpolar, non polar if the molecular shape around central atom has no lone pairs or if it does its either square planer or linear, 2 all atoms around the central atom are the same.

    This video is so so helpful!! Thank you for simplifying this concept! I have a question. What about when you have c2h2f2? Because that can be drawn as a cis or trans. And we learned that the cis is polar but the trans is non polar. Do you mind explaining that example!

    What a perfect explanation! Could you please clarify also this case for N2H4? Since here we have 2 same central atoms, and the molecule is symmetric, the dipole moments should cancel each other.

    Do you have any videos walking through this using the structure formula (Not sure if that's the correct term. The one with the hexagons...lol).     hello sir. May I know if H2SO4 non polar or polar? From your lecture it should be non polar since there are 4 Os surrounding the central atom S, however 2 of the Os has 3 lone pairs. does that make H2SO4 polar?

      I think SBr2 is polar. Sulfur has 2 lone pairs with 2 Bromine atoms on the side. Even though SBr2 matches with the rule that all atoms are the same, it does not fit the lone pair rule.
