My very first job was in Hull, i left around April/may 1990 and remember all these buses and the old bus station like it was yesterday. I went back to Hull for the 1st time last month and the changes around there are incredible - some good, some not so good ;)
Ah memories - sitting on the top of a decker waiting for the bus to leave for home in Withernsea. Some new Lego fresh in the box in a carrier bag whilst mum puffed away on a silk cut. Always remember Hull being cleaner, but then your memories play tricks on you. Come to think of it, anyone remember all those bloody ringpulls off cans in the gutters. Not to mention white dog *hit.
As a few people have commented Hull "coach" station was a modern health and safety nightmare. Buses driving randomly in both directions, drivers dropping you off in the middle of the road in front of another bus...all whilst cars drove through aiming for the station car park and pedestrians walked across to the departure stands!! Yet by a combination of common sense and luck it worked. Many thanks to Dave for filming it... I wish I could time travel back with a modern camera and phone and film it all, or just see it all again 👍
How there wasn't a weekly death I'll never know. Drivers would let you off 10 Foot from the Pavement and to catch your bus home you needed to cross the pass of everyone coming in. Happy days.
Blue box for goodies straight off the bus from school... Class days
Meet you at the blue box

Ferensway, as I remember it, with LA’s there and the distinctive windows in the roof of the building next door at the lights (forget what it was now).
Met few birds at that blue box took em.for few chip butties
Ah the daily dice with death that working in the city centre offered. As dangerous and as cold as it was, it still had a certain charm and I miss it.

A Lada Samara. And surprising how many Leyland Atlantean buses still in service in the early 90s.
I was using those buses in 1990, as were you!
Great to see the old bus station and rail station entrance again. Happy memories of my youth in Hull.
I had to watch twice, I thought I spotted myself at one point, wasn’t me though, guy had the same jacket, and a few pounds lighter,
Number 10 bransholme
Great memories. Just think that xr2 fiesta at the end would be worth about £15k now😮
