To be exact, Rosé was born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1997. Parents emigrated to NZ, from Korea, couple decades prior.
The family moved to Melbourne, Australia when Rosé was 7.
Rosé, at 16, and her mother, initially, moved to Korea, after Rosé auditioned among 700 others at YG Entertainment auditions in Sydney. The rest of the family also moved to Korea several months later.
you can't be serious, Rosé is Australian, her first language is English, by the way, Alicia keys the original singer for this song posted a clip of Rosé while singing this song and expressed her admiration. I know everyone has a different opinion, but this is the first time I've seen a vocal coach who has negative comments about Rosé and for me i found you'r comments rude gys.
Rose’ is Australian (New Zealand born, Australian raised actually), so it wasn’t a vocal trick, it’s her accent (and it’s charming) ..

i honestly don't understand how rose's ennounciation was off, maybe the first singer but rose literally learned english as her first language. and blackpink are still a four-member group as they have always been, the guy on the right was kinda rude.

Y’all are just haters, except for the girl on the left. She’s fine. You people are so overly critical and you take the fun out of everything. Neither of them were bad, they did amazing! But the guy on the right especially just pointing out enunciation is kinda giving me some racist vibes because not everyone can speak English and not everyone has to. Not sure I understand this reaction at all. No research on the artists you're critiquing, no research on the show you're reviewing, criticizing the accent of an artist singing in a second language, not much mention of the positive vocal qualities in what is clearly an incredible performance. I get that you're "vocal coaches" but you come off more as "vocal debbie downers."

a lot of comments about this already, most of them touch on what is going on. I will try and spell it out clearly.
This show was a variety show, which they got actors and singers to serve dinner, drinks and desert to paying customers on a beach front location during Covid, this is why everyone is spaced out so far apart on the beach front, it is not their parents but random guest. So after the food service was complete, they would ask the artist to go on stage and entertain the guest with a song or two.
The first girl is a talented singer from YG, SuHyun from the group AKMU. her english is pretty good for being a second language. The Guy is Onew from the Group Shinee, and then Rose' - who holds a New Zealand passport. she said she obviously learned Korean first, but only at the elementary level. and has picked up the Australian Accent after moving there at the age of 6 until her early teen years. So you could say English is her first/second language. when she moved to Korea to join YG / BlackPink at the age 15, Lisa who is Thai was speaking Korean better then her at first. And the group BlackPink is still together, but they have solo projects they sing when they are not producing music together.
At the Beginning of the clip, you see Rose' kind of laughing or shying away like Really... As this song was not planned. someone suggested they sing this song, and SuHyun said yeah, she know this song and started it off. as you could tell, Onew did not really know the song but most people know the chorus, so he was just following along though out the jam. Rose' who knew the song but not well enough was on her phone for lyrics, and you could see it in her eyes for help, or a simple, you are doing great, which she was. and this is when SuHyun joined in for a bit but tapered off again.
I will also comment on the manners of the panel, I do not think they are Rude or impolite. They may be un-informed about the group they are talking about, but this does not make them bad, which is why they are asking questions. People, There are no bad questions, so don't be so offended if someone does not know everything you know. and everyone is entitled to there own opinion, it is refreshing to hear someone say what they are feeling and not being obliged to say a nice word when they don't feel it. with that said, when I hear someone singing an english song and it does not sound the way I hear it in my own head, i too do not initially enjoy it, and sometimes it may take a few listens to fully enjoy the performance. everyone has different accents and styles, and this is what makes every artist stand out from the pack. enough said. great reaction.

I love how vocal coaches constantly criticize singers, while not being able to reproduce a sound even close to what their armchair critiques imply.
Rose' is from Australia so honestly her enunciation or pronounciation is correct and this is just a jamming so I don't really get where the boy's are coming from and there's a lot of American singers that really don't show of there voices

I whole heartedly agree with most of these comments. Like critiquing vocal technique is one thing but so much of the "critiquing" was just plain disrespectful and rude commentary plus context matters a great deal in my opinion when you are critiquing and they didn't even try to get a little background prior to their review. Like they don't necessarily have to if they are critiquing vocal technique only but that was not the case here. I have watched many vocal coaches give their reviews on technique but never on their preference for the singers accent. Guy in the green shirt couldnt even find one positive thing to mention. Also, they started off by saying Koreans really know how to sing and then proceed to rudely rip every little thing to shreds. There is constructive criticism but this was not that. Like what was anyone supposed to learn or take away from this?

This song was requested by an audience so it was not practiced or planned. More of a simultaneous trial in casual vibe during the street busking. It’s not for a Live TV stage or studio recording. They just wanted to have some pure fun by getting closer to general publics :)

@Draxle Lee, yeh, it was an unplanned unrehearsed extra song. More like a "jam" by those performing. I found out, after searching for more vision of the gig.
It's from Korean TV series 'Sea of Hope', & not an actual concert. More like watching a local band at a beachside bar or cafe.
Sea of Hope series is part Reality-TV, part documentary, & part "low-key" live music performances

Six months ago you listened Nightwish. The song was written to the voice of second singer Anette Olzon who has more traditional rock singing style. If you haven't listen Nightwish after that I think you would get more out from Ghost Love Score that let Floor Jansen's own voice come out more freely. She has one of the most versatile voices I have ever heard and you need to see many performances to get an idea of her range.

Your comment is a fair comment, BUT these people reacting are vocal coaches & singers and should at least know about who their analysing, when the artist is a major world-wide artist. Don't expect them to know it all, but even I not young, & rarely watched/listen to BP, know Black Pink are 4, & are Rose, Jenny, Jishoo & ... that one I'd have to google. Also, Sean who's channel this is has said in other video he goes to Korea couple times of year (tho not past few years of course), & said he's friends with some Korean singers (such as Maytree) when reacting to some vids of some singers; so he really should know that Rosé is in Black Pink. AFIK there's only one Korean now international singer in the world named Rosé.

Guys this was a Korean TV program aired during the pandemic where famous Korean celebrities ran a free, for the lucky few, outdoor restaurant and bar called sea of hope.
This performance was an unplanned encore request by one of the guests.
Rosé appeared in 6 of the 12 episodes.
The cast all live in a small shack on the beach rehearse and prepare meals and drinks in the morning and perform in the afternoon and evening.
The whole show had to fit around the artists regular schedules so some of them pop in and out.
If you have a look at some more of the covers I think you'll be impressed.
But Rosé first language is English...

Well in the show they were running a mini beach bar where they also entertain customers by singing to them. I also understand the problems with the enunciation. In their defense, Suhyun is Korean while Rosé is Australian so their pronunciation will not be the same as when an American does it. Even Texans sing differently compared to let us say a New Yorker 😅 But I get it each has his own preference. At least you are honest with your reactions.
@Pau, thanks for the backstory. Was this like an "unplugged" show, or an invitation event (as not huge audience, like normal)? Happening either side of a main gig? (EDIT: eventually found answer). Interestingly, Rosé was born in New Zealand, but grew up in Australia, from the age of 7, until 16 when she moved to Korea. As Rosé was relaxed, maybe she was singing with Aus pronunciation lol. Didn't notice that much (until replayin), but then aussie pronunciation I'm very familiar with lol - & the extended "hanging on" of vowel sounds of at end of words, such as Noooh. So Australia's to blame. Ha.
Also, I love anything chilled like that & an ultimate dream to be at a favourite artist's gig if was something like that. Was going to ask if more of BP at this but googled (& translator) & see it's from a TV Series, Sea of Hope (in English) which is part reality series, part no audience performance, & part live gig.
For others reading (summarised from Wiki): Sea of Hope is a healing show which combines three themes: sea, bar, & wish. Participants open a bar on the sea-side & offer to the customers various food, drinks & musical acts, so they can escape their daily lives for a moment. (although that doesn't exactly detail some other episodes, I had a brief look at part of)

The girl who sang at first is Suhyun, from Akmu, and the man was Onew from SHINee, they r both great vocalists and so talented too. There was another duet between Rose and Onew ini that show, they covered"Lucky", i think that will be so much fun watching or reacting them, the chemistry just so cheef's kiss!!!

Guys maybe you miss the point. The young lady gets it but the guys seem clueless. I don’t care about vocal technique all I know is that when Rosé sings there’s something that pulls you in. She’s got over 74M followers on IG and their MVs have billions of views. Most of these people will tell you they would rather hear Rosé sing while reading the lyrics off her phone rather than some vocal technique genius. Don’t tell me why she isn’t technically the best singer, tell me why so many love to hear her sing. 😊

I think i'll just stop at 6:23 😂, simply bcuz about half video in i just couldn't bare my straight face pulling out "let them talk first" tolerance expression anymore, like i'm usually quite okay when people being skeptically critical over somebody who they rarely watched in their own time, but then again some comments in this video and judging by what people have been said in the comments are enough to tellin me that some of those who so called vocal coaches can be plainly ignorant, shockingly off within their observation and even fairly lacking in their professionalism
Like i get it some people defending these vocal coaches by saying "oh yeah finally something refreshing comes out with such an honesty", "singers could have a bad day or two", " ennounciation blah blah blah", but nahhhh y'all fans of this channel were mad blind over some important details in this video, like as an example these coaches were fully predicting that SEA OF HOPE might just a relaxing jamming session which normally are not that intense/serious when it comes to the whole staging quality and yet these coaches still proceeds to criticize each one of the performer in this video by saying not impressed (which is fine since everyone entitled to their own ego/preference), they also said that ONEW's gesture shows that he might be sick of the performance quality and many more baseless claims 😂
And remember, these statements were coming out from vocal coaches, vocalll coaches with no proper knowledge about BLACKPINK nor LEE SU-HYUN nor ONEW nor SEA OF HOPE evenly, and y'all fans of this channel somehow still not getting something's off from their reaction yet?

It is very amusing to read the reactions of some people that just because the reviews of the vocal coaches on this video is not the way the fans want it to be that it means they don't know what they are talking about. For me, I like reactions that are real and honest which I believe what they did respectfully. They are vocal coaches so, of course, their focus is more on the voice, techniques and delivery and not more on who the singer/s are. Singers are people, they have good and bad days. They are not always perfect and even in their imperfections they can still be good. So, don't shoot the vocal coaches commenting of what could be done better because they are basing their comments on the current video performance and not about who the singers are, their achievements, nationalities, etc. I love this channel because they actually provide lessons for those who want to learn. Remember, people learn best from their mistakes and I believe that every decent artist will prefer constructive criticisms rather than just saying they are perfect all the time. So, I hope this channel continues to deliver honest reactions and lessons to those who truly appreciate what a true reaction video really means. Bravo!!!
