  • This Private Pilot Ground Lesson explains aircraft safety belts, shoulder harnesses, and all the other SAFETY regulations you should know about as a private pilot! Does a pilot need to wear seatbelts and shoulder harnesses during flight? Are passengers required to wear seatbelts on an aircraft? This video explains all the seatbelt rules as well as other safety rules like oxygen requirements at high altitudes. I even discuss minimum safe altitudes for pilots! This is Private Pilot Ground lesson 56! This training is intended to follow the aeronautical knowledge areas in Part 61.105 section b for single engine aircraft.

    I love how the PIC in that short clip throws in the “he’s at the max on it” when talking about the seatbelt. Interesting way to tell your boy he needs to lose some weight😂

    Thank you Josh for this channel and for all your hard work. Coming up soon on April 15th my son ( he’s 10 years old ) and I are doing a discovery flight. He doesn’t know what we’re doing that Saturday, but I’m super excited about it. I’m going to allow my son to sit in the copilot seat and control the yolk while I record his performance. So the discovery flight is for the both of us. I will post the experience and get back to you if I have any questions about aviation. Again, thank you for all your hard work.

    Thanks a lot Josh. All your videos are helping me a lot. Been a student for a couple of months. I only fly once or twice a week. I have a busy schedule but every time i watch tv. It has to be your videos first before NBA.Need to learn something from you first before sports. Anyways is there a big difference between Cessna 152 and 172 maneuver wise? I've been flying 152 but I'm thinking that 172 is easier to control.?

    • @FreePilotTraining
      @FreePilotTraining  Рік тому +2

      You’re welcome! I’ve never actually flown a 152, but supposedly they handle very similar. The primary difference is that the 172 has more power and has higher airspeeds for almost everything. All the principles of flight are going to be the same though

    • @fivie234
      @fivie234 Рік тому +1

      @@FreePilotTraining Thanks for your response. I just thought that its easier to control 172 because almost every time i try to do a power off stall on 152 they drop to the side and when I recover i have to maneuver back within the 10 degree heading from my original position. I was just hoping it would drop straight to the front. It's much easier that way. By the way I live in California and light wind is probably one of the reasons for the side drop even with rudder control.

    Josh, thank you so much for producing these precious lessons. They really helps for anyone who want to know fm little to everything about PPL. I am planning to finish all your lesson, and I wonder if I still miss anything to pass the PPL exam? and if I want to proceed to CPL what else channel or videos would you recommend for resources like these? Do you have any pages where I can send DM? gratefully thanks.

      @FreePilotTraining  Рік тому

      Your welcome! I’ve got about 5-6 more lesson that I’m trying to finish up before I’m completely finished with the PPL content. I highly recommend the Pilots Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge to fill in any gaps, and the Airplane Flying Handbook to get ready for your check ride. You can DM me in Facebook if you have access to that

    I am new to my training and have watched all your videos once already (I plan to watch several of them multiple times). I was wondering if you have made a video (and I missed it) or are planning to make a video about recommended "non-plane equipment," I guess I'll call it. For example, my list so far has: headset, kneeboard, and iPad. Also, what are all the recommended apps and websites I should have loaded? I know you have mentioned ForeFlight and the Aviation Weather Center site, but what else? And anything else you can think of--I plan to buy a new set of sunglasses soon too--things like that. Thank you so much for what you are doing, it is amazingly helpful!

    • @FreePilotTraining
      @FreePilotTraining  Рік тому +1

      You’re welcome! I actually haven’t made a video yet on all the stuff you actually need to get going. I really need to do that. I highly recommend an iPad with Foreflight. Yes, it costs a little more, but it gives you access to all your charts, weather, weight and balance, and a bunch of books that are fantastic: The Pilots Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, the Airplane Flying Handbook, the FAR AIM and so much more. It really is a hub for all your pilot knowledge

    CORRECTION or at least a regulation conflict! I don't think that you are permitted to fly below 500AGL "ever" (except takeoff or landings). Reason: A property owner "owns" the airspace above his property up to 400FT AGL. The reasons for this are antique but still hold true today. Barnstormers back in the day often would get their jollies by chasing livestock and many a broken legs and other injuries as well occurred. Injuries like these are literally lethal injuries to livestock. Thus, minimum AGL altitude laws for aircraft were put into place. I believe that they still stand! I know for certain that landowners own both the land and the airspace above their owned land up to but not including 400ft AGL. (In the USA)

    • @FreePilotTraining
      @FreePilotTraining  Рік тому +1

      This is an excellent point. You can fly as low as you want over water or sparsely populated areas, but I’d say that if if you’re flying below 500 feet above someone’s cows or other property, you are creating an undue hazard. If it’s open water or it’s sparsely populated that’s often public property. In that case, it’s fine.

      Thanks for the feedback. I’d love to remove the ads, but unfortunately that’s how I get paid. I can’t control how long they are either. However, you do have the option for UA-cam Premium which is about $10 a month. This is still half the cost of any ground school out there and you have access to all UA-cam videos without ads at that point. Once again, I wish I could offer these without ads, but that’s the way I can afford to spend time and make these videos
