We send out and have a special coating also on the cavities of the molds that run 33% Glass filled Nylon resin developed by Dupont.
The coating will protect the mold , that glass will eat the steel. I have to run the molds at 190 degrees and resin at 560 degrees. Dangerous stuff. You don't have to worry about that.
I wouldn't use that Rust-Oleum spray for my fishing lures I would rather put some grap oil or coconut oil in to the plastic on them to make them shiny

Nice explanation. However...I think it's more than just putting a shiny finish on the lure; with a more opaque colorant, the smoother finish makes the glitter and mica or whatever's mixed in the plastic more visible. I've noticed that when I shoot the same plastic in a cnc mold and a sand cast mold. The cnc molded lure has more flash. I'm try out your paint method on the Do-It slick shiner mold I ordered. I'll paint a few cavities and leave the rest rough...and see what's up. Don't know whether the fish even care...

All the videos you are doing on this are interesting for sure, you have me wanting to do this. One thing though is I'm not sure I don't like the more flat look versus shiny, I tend to rough up my plastics before I fish them, makes them look less shiny and brings out more salt. Your thoughts on that?
I really don't notice the difference on bites.
