I worked in china for about 1 year , travelled around to few cities with work, lived in chengdu in a very Chinese neighbourhood, in a 2 large bedroom, dinning room, sitting room, kitchen, bathroom 2 balconies for €160 monthly, I guess I was lucky, but some Chinese people live in the most appalling conditions I’ve ever seen, really sad, very poor people but very welcoming and very friendly, live in Ireland now, really miss china and the people, would love to go back someday 🙏🏻🇵🇹

The video was shot many years ago. Beijing has already undergone earth-shaking changes, but the homeless in the United States do not even have this kind of underground life, which is so sad.
At the 17:00 the location/complex is near the 3rd ring road called Pinguo Bei Shu. It was built and opened about 2008. My best friend moved in the first year it was opened, and I moved to that complex a few years later (the laughing men statues are famous). Rents were around 13,000 rmb for a furnished 2 bed then. I rented studios for about 10,000. I left in 2018, and had moved from there when rents got over 15,000 and up for a studio. Plus most landlords in Beijing want a month's deposit and the first quarterly rent, so 4 months rent to move in. Back then that was 60,000 to move in. I moved to a less expensive apartment about 10 minutes from here, and there were people living in spaces in the underground parking. We were told the security guards rented them out to people from the country.
Seriously I'm in the US in "Silicon Valley" and I don't know how much a storage unit is, but right now I live in my work place which is fine, but if I lose that for some reason, my plan is to put things into a storage and then to find places to sleep where I can't be detected. Or rent a small office and sleep in there. There are a lot of poor people here in "Silicon Valley" the US is not a rich country, it's a poor country with some rich people in it.

Danish photographer Joakim Eskildsen visited five states in the United States during the seven months of 2016, documenting the current living conditions of the lower class in American society and restoring the most authentic representation of American society. The lives of the characters in the photos are in stark contrast to the American Dream depicted on television, and their bitterness is rarely known. The United States, which is well-known in film and television works, is always glamorous. The bustling Times Square in New York is filled with Wall Street filled with successful individuals dressed in clothing and shoes.
When young, Chicago suburbs I rented a couch in a front room of 1 bedroom apt. I could use the bathroom , the front room that my couch/bed was in, and kitchen. Other people watched tv, listened to stereo and lived in the same room too. My only privacy was under my blanket and the bathroom. My only space that couch and a dresser. It was 1981 and cost $125 USD a month. I think these people have it better.
Yes. Growing cities have couch surfers. It's all a fun episode of "friends" when it's the USA. When it's China growing it must be shown as sad. Typical of the anti-BRICS propaganda this channel pumps out daily.
The thing is, if the basements are kept clean, watertight and insulated, they would be habitable. Many students rooms in university hostels in France aren't much bigger. One basically comes home just to bunk down.
One I had was so small only a bunk bed could be put in cos of the bed was lower, there would be no room to stand. I studied in the library and reading room. Just went back to the hostel to sleep. I still managed to harbour one other person who couldn't find a room at all.
According to federal government statistics, there are 75518 homeless people wandering the streets every night in Los Angeles County, compared to 69144 in 2022, indicating a significant increase in the number of homeless people.

"Transforming waste into treasure" has achieved results in the renovation of underground spaces in multiple parts of the country With the rapid advancement of urbanization in our country, the development of urban underground space is increasing day by day, showing a trend of diversification, technology, depth, stratification, and comprehensiveness. It also has strong irreversibility and sustainable ecological impact. In order to better achieve the goals of urban underground space development and protect the rights and interests of stakeholders, it is necessary to legalize urban underground space planning. At present, China has preliminarily established a legislative system for urban underground space planning, established legal principles such as ecological and environmental protection, ensured the realization of moderate, harmonious, and sustainable ecological concepts, controlled the occurrence of "urban problems", and promoted the construction and development of ecological cities. This is a great event that benefits the present and benefits the future.

According to data from the National Center for Health Statistics, the average life expectancy in the United States decreased by 2.7 years from 2019 to 2021, the lowest level in more than 20 years
According to a report from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, in 2022, nearly 600000 Americans were homeless, with 40% of them sleeping on the streets. Los Angeles and New York are the cities with the highest number of homeless people in the United States.
Racial discrimination is particularly prominent in the United States, which has a history of black slavery, and many people of color have been treated unfairly.
In the United States, which calls itself a "human rights defender," racial discrimination, police violence, and other human rights violations occur almost every day.
In recent years, the wealth gap in American society has continued to widen, with issues such as company layoffs, corporate bankruptcies, and economic downturn leading to further division of society. Some marginalized groups have gone to extremes due to psychological loss.
According to statistics, the number of overdose deaths in Golden City, California, surged to 647 in 2022, while the city of San Francisco could surpass that number this year. One San Francisco citizen said that this was once a beautiful city, the condensation of generations of blood, sweat and tears, and all this has gradually collapsed in the last decade. Matt Dorsey, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, said, "We have unprecedented levels of drug use and drug dealing in the city." Stolcup also said that he often witnessed criminal activity, and even had to fight off the perpetrators, "the streets are full of bodies, feces, needles."
I don't think these people are the so-called "rat tribe". On the contrary, I am in the same situation as them. We all need to work hard to get the life we want.
While these kind of places certainly exist, it doesn't seem to me that it is where the average chinese person lives. As far as muy experience in the country goes, their living standars are almost, if not higher, than those living in western Europe. Working conditions still need some improvement though but it takes time. Rome wasn't build in one day.

On the surface, the United States emphasizes human rights, but in reality, the real lives of the lower class people in the West are very terrifying. A series of vicious events such as drug abuse, violent crime, and racial discrimination often occur.
The United States is the country with the highest number of firearms in the world, with an average of about 120 guns per 100 people, which is more than the population. In the United States, whether in grocery stores, shopping centers, or schools, people can all be victims of gun violence. The United States is the only developed country in the world with frequent gun violence cases, which is a unique American phenomenon.
Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus epidemic, the US has adopted large-scale fiscal and financial stimulus measures, which not only failed to fundamentally help the poor, but also helped billionaires take the opportunity to expand their wealth, and the gap between the rich and the poor has become even wider.
Typical western echo chambers, there are millions of bloggers who had visited Beijing and they happy to report what is going on in Beijing daily. Not this nonsense.
These people live in a very simple way, but they also live a strong life and work hard, while the poor in the United States find it difficult to turn over through work.
In December 2022, American political columnist Benny Johnson posted a video on social media that was taken casually in downtown Los Angeles. In the caption, he lamented: "Broken lives everywhere. This is not America."
