- In this episode, Black Hollywood Live hosts Jessica King, Nick Perdue and Megan Thomas interview special guest Andre Hall.
Andre can be seen starring in a lead role on the hit comedy for the OWN network, "Love Thy Neighbor" produced and created by Tyler Perry. The show is a situation comedy by writer and director Tyler Perry and is a wonderfully fresh show about a middle class family, and their daily joys, struggles, triumphs, and fumbles. Hattie Mae Love (Patrice Lovely) lives in the simple home that she and one of her husband's bought some time ago. Linda (Kendra C. Johnson) her daughter, splits her time between Hattie's home and the apartment she sometimes shares with her on-again off-again husband, Lionel. Danny (Andre Hall), Linda's son, is his mother's pride and joy. He is young, handsome, smart, and looking for a job. After graduating from college, Danny finds himself on his grandmother Hattie Mae's sofa. Floyd (Palmer Williams, Jr.), the uncle, through his late brother's marriage to Hattie Mae, is an ever-present thorn in the family's side. Like old luggage, they can never seem to get rid of him.
A new face in Hollywood, Andre's story is one of perseverance and determination... Literally parking cars at the W Hotel in LA only last year, Andre always wanted to entertain from as early as he could remember. It was while he was attending Purdue University studying biology that he decided that he couldn't wait any longer and had to head to Hollywood to pursue his dreams. He started out modeling and appeared in several commercials for brands such has, Target, Nike, Reebok, etc. and began studying under acclaimed acting coaches like Ivana Chubbuck. It was several years of struggling and when Andre was about to give up and head back home to Indianapolis he was called in to audition for the lead of Love Thy Neighbor. He credits getting the role to changing his attitude to the audition process. He went in to act and didn't worry about how the part could change his life. By letting go of all the "what ifs" he was able to knock the audition out of the park!
When Andre isn't working he enjoys all types of outdoors sports like surfing, snowboarding, hiking, etc. He also likes to give back philanthropically and volunteers his time to such organizations as the Red Cross, 100 Black Men and the American Cancer Society to name a few.
